That thunder beam is so much fun, and despite it's stone drop flaw, I do like the magnetic beam a lot, it was a very interesting tool to put into a platform game, not sure if many platformers before megaman 1 did that, just a shame it's usefulness was a little niche, but they certainly improved on tool use in megaman 2! Great race!

Two or three accidental save states and subsequent killing myself as quickly as possible to restart and refill my weapons numerous times at Dr. Wily stage, I gave up.Not gonna race anyone in this game. No way. I'm happy that I actually beat the game in, I think, 1998 for the first time - and it was on NES without any save states! You guys are crazy for racing in THIS game. Of course, this game is great because of the limitations creating so many variations.
Look at the Psychedalic Eyeball & Raving Loon screens 40:25 - 42:35. Looks like a larger level with two Megamans. Especially when Psych is on a screen that is below Loon's. 40:38 & 41:00 are good examples.
Watching Killer Emcee playing Alfred Chicken without knowing how to use the downward drill attack is quite painful. Also the game on the NES looks shitty when compared to the Amiga version. It was quite the fun Amiga game.
Finished at 33:44 on the run timer and started with elec man. I used the minor skips on cut mans stage and wily 1, and select pause. I also used a glitch to get the magnet beam early. My final score was 1,102,800, and died on fire mans stage, and twice on wily 4.
I like how Ragny is able to beat Ninja Gaiden 1 damn near no problem blind and manage to beat someone who had beaten it before, yet the moment he touches a controller with Mega Man popped in, he just fumbles around like a ditz. Though admittedly in this case, he did fairly okay for his first(two) runs through Elec, you can kinda tell that stage is an experiment with controls vs, ascension. Ascension won.
The easy way to play this game and win a race like this: It's highly recommended to start with Guts Man's level, you're just going to have to learn how to properly jump on the tracks. did you know there is an awesome chibi version of this game on the psp called megaman powered up! It has 2 new robot masters! And a level editor! And the robot masters as playable characters! and ROLL as a playable character along with PROTOMAN and the slide and slide+charge versions of megaman! ITS AMAZING!!!!!

To me, starting Elec Man is "hardcore" but Guts Man is the smart move. If you're looking to race, you want no backtracking! You either backtrack or do Guts Man platforms without the Magnet Beam...no choice in the matter...
Raced my brother, got 49:09. His time...well, Ragny beat him. Let's not say more. Also, did not use the pause trick on the Yellow Devil. Kudos to Psych for doing it legit.
Sad to say this is the Megaman game I'm the best at (of the original ones). It's just when it comes time to do Wily's Castle that is where I'd get royally fucked up. If that select trick is what I think it is, I had to use that to beat a certain monster. Sucks there is no Betus but I'm starting to know some of these other guys too now.

Imo, Psych was the winner of this race just for being the only person who didn't use the pause glitch.
Psychedelic Eyeball won. He's the only one who beat the game. Everyone else gave up when they used pause-glitch on the Yellow Devil.
