“Boiled book pages”? How on earth do people come up with ideas like this?! I’m so glad there are whackadoos in this world, because life is so much better with them in our lives. What pretty pages!
Great tutorial! But I must admit, I found it SO random and hilarious when she said ‘I’ve got a few rusty things I’ll just throw in there’, and then she put in an old rusty chain 😆 that was great!
You did a great job. Your laugh is so contagious. Makes me giggle when you giggle. I will definitely try this process. Looking forward to your next video.
❤ We're so glad we saw from beginning to end. The Fun we had seeing and learning together. The enjoy in learning something new and trying on thinking outside the box . news ways too create. Ty for sharing 💓looking forward on learning more.
It’s 2023 🇦🇺 I love your video tutorial. It suits me fine to use a simple approach without having to buy Alum….no one here sells it locally. Looking for rusty nail! Starting today and can’t wait. Thankyou
I made a couple batches myself, they come out wonderful and I loved the process! I love how you never know what'll happen unti it's over. I did figure out for myself, too, that boiling the pages twice - with new plants in them each time - can make REALLY cool results!
I LOVE your videos you always make me laugh! LOVE your personality! These are SO PRETTY! Living in the pacific NW we have a lot of green, my yard is like yours! 5 acres of stuff
OMG I can’t wait for our weather to be nice and flowers to bloom so I can do this too. Awesome idea to use the mesh and wire and rocks and rusty junk. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you dear!
I'm just starting out scrapbooking I'm 86 years old can't get outside so I decided to do something inside but this is fascinating I really enjoy your channel thank you a lot for sharing
Keep it up. My mom just passed away at 90. This sort of thing helped her. I wish she had done more. She did some of it with my kids, which was a win win for everyone. I was her caregiver, and I'm positive that doing things like this are absolutely useful in helping you to stay healthy.
Fun tutorial Shannon. OK here's a clue girlfriend. "Leaves of three let it be"!!!!!! If it has only three leaves per cluster it is no doubt poison Ivy. Great idea to "sew" it up to secure it all together. The end result is amazing. Sooooo...guess what I'm going to do lol. Your videos get me in trouble, I should be cleaning my house instead of foraging for leaves & weeds lol. Plus I have to roam the neighborhood for some rusty junk too, OH MY LORD Shannon lol.
This is awesome. I love how the papers came out. I guess I'll be watching out for a pot now. lol They remind me of the Rorschach test...which I have never taken mind you. lol Thanks for sharing Shannon. Loved it. :-)
The thing I appreciate most about you, Shannon, is how you always unselfishly promote other artists, but of course I always love your ideas, execution, and genuine sense of wonder at your results.
The mauve flower is vetch. Those came out so awesome and brilliant!!!!!!!!!!! I really love 💕 this, and I’m going to definitely have a go at this. Thank you so much Shannon xxx Mags
Really AWESOME tutorial and results! I was waiting for you to pull out some hemlock. And then the internet would groan with a collective, "Nooooooo!" Hahahaha ;-) "Leaves of three, stay away from me!" for poison ivy. (Painful lesson from the summer of 1973). Also, they turn a bright, beautiful red in the Fall and then drop off and don't stay in three's--because they are evil.
No, more likely if it's a mud stone, rock has to be thousands of degrees hot to change. Shale and slate are metamorphic and mudstone is sedimentary. Sedimentary is less stable and may release a mineral colour when boiled; may .....
I've always heard "Leaves of 3 let them be" That would be poison ivy. I love the way they turned out! I would love to do some but I just don't have the patience with my anxiety.
Shannon, check out Carolyn Arnett on TH-cam as she has 2 videos on the how she does this and the results. She only boils for 10-15 minutes, let’s cool, pours off the water and let’s the papers sit 24 hours before separating. She had beautiful colors. She did not add the vinegar but I’m going to add some to help the colors stay set. Red and yellow onion skins did great. She did different papers like yours too. Her videos were 2 months ago.
Shannon Green this is amazing!!! you mentioned poison ivy. Some plants have poisonous juices you may not want to make a stew of that and breathe in vapors or expose your skin. Research would be good beforehand especially if kids will be included in collecting and wrapping the leaves in paper.
I think these are absolutely fantastic and such an easy process with a surprise reveal! As I was watching, from across the room I hear my husband say "Debsue, close your mouth!" I realized I was in such awe with the results, I had my mouth wide open! And it's so awesome you get a different design on each side of the paper and the shades of color are so pretty! I definitely need to try this! Thanks, Shannon! Hugs, Debra!
I live in New Mexico and have the same problem. But, I just gathered what I could and tried this. Willow and tamarisk worked beautifully. It wasn't easy, but I found enough to make a beautiful batch.
So cool! I need to find myself a pot! I've heard that you need to boil outdoors because of chemicals released. Is that true? Thanks for sharing this, Shannon! ❤️
Great testing and I love the results. I was excited to see each paper lifted to see the results. It was as if I was right there with you. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great discoveries here Shannon. Thanks for the smile while you filmed. I had to laugh at the wasp thing. I would have been gone before anyone knew it myself lol. Great vid.
WONDERFUL!!! I have a hike planned for later today, so it is perfect that TH-cam suggested your video!!! I can't wait to try this! Your information was clear. I feel like you walked us through the whole process. Thank you!!
WOW! Have no words for how much I love this technique. Some came out very strong patterned some really subtle, but I loved them all. Thanks for opening a new world.
Very nice, I always thought it was so complicated to do this, but it seems not. Well done , I love them and will have a go. You also make me laugh and that counts as much as the art doesn’t it
That's pretty cool. ive got to try this these arexawesome I liked these so well that I subscribed to your channel. Keep on with your beauties. I thought that all of them were nice, but your faviorites were indeed the best of the lot.
Found this video by accident but watched it because I thought it looked interesting and the style of paper would be great to use for a scrapbook mini album. Great video, thanks for sharing
This is so cool, and I have some of that wire, too! This has opened up so many ideas. ...hmmm-I am going to try this. You are a lot of fun to watch. Great video, thank you.
I knew that you can put the leaves and paper sandwiched under heavy pressure to get a similar result. I didn't know of this method, thank you very much for sharing, I think the finished book pages are wonderful, nature is such a great inspiration and paper loves nature!
What a fun way to eco boil papers etc using weeds & vegetation. The outcome of these is so stunning whilst being quite easy to create without too much fuss. Lovely papers & idea. TFS
I see you have the 'natural' landscape too!! We do mow some of it down but golly it grows fast. I should try this next year when the wild roses start blooming.
Oh my goodness, Shannon, this is one of the most fun instructional videos I have ever watched. I love your relaxed and 'oh well, let's see' attitude and your adorable laugh! The results were absolutely beautiful. As far as what you're going to do with the paper... coming from a serious paper addict, who cares... it's paper... :)
Dear Shannon, I so hope you'll pick up the comment on a long-ago tutorial, but thank you so much for sharing this experience. While I was ooohing and aaahing I had to laugh, because it seemed we were actually having a conversation over DIY. Great stuff.
Such a great idea, they came out beautiful. Just in time for my holiday craft making. I am preparing my stash, and these would be great. Thanks for sharing.
OMG you had me giggling so much when you started talking aboit about poisonous plants hahaha. When you said save me from myself that was it for me 🤣. Because thsts so me. Dive head in without making sure cuz I get so excited to do whatever it is thats got me totally enthralled. Only a couple minutes in my first video of yours and I already adore you ❤

It’s 2023 🇦🇺 I love your video tutorial. It suits me fine to use a simple approach without having to buy Alum….no one here sells it locally. Looking for rusty nail! Starting today and can’t wait. Thankyou
wow, love this idea going to have a go. We have a lot of foliage in Ireland so no shortage of leaves fabulous
Go for it!
I got just as excited as you did with every page... love it
Thanks so much!
I made a couple batches myself, they come out wonderful and I loved the process! I love how you never know what'll happen unti it's over. I did figure out for myself, too, that boiling the pages twice - with new plants in them each time - can make REALLY cool results!
Ooohhhh, what a great idea!!
:)
I laughed when I read that "you never know what will happen until it's over". That pretty much sums up about 99% of my art projects!
Hehe mine too! If not 100%! :D
Those ARE beautiful plants. Nature made them for you.
Thanks for watching Karin!
fabulous! I'm really tempted to have a go. And maybe throw some beetroot in too, for a magenta hue.
Ooh, fun stuff! Definitely want to try this. Tfs!
I LOVE your videos you always make me laugh! LOVE your personality! These are SO PRETTY! Living in the pacific NW we have a lot of green, my yard is like yours! 5 acres of stuff

I'll add my awe to the fray! Do it AGAIN!!!
LOL Thanks my friend!
Wow! We did this in grade school... the second one you opened, looked Absolutely Camouflaged (the envelope"
OMG I can’t wait for our weather to be nice and flowers to bloom so I can do this too. Awesome idea to use the mesh and wire and rocks and rusty junk. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you dear!

Shannon, great process video. Everyone has their own take, after experimenting. Really appreciate your sharing with us. Happy Crafting! mbb
Thanks for watching Michelle!
This is awesome. I love how the papers came out. I guess I'll be watching out for a pot now. lol They remind me of the Rorschach test...which I have never taken mind you. lol Thanks for sharing Shannon. Loved it. :-)
LOL All Rorschachs look like a uterus to me and I'd prefer not to have that analyzed!
lol Can't say I blame you. lol
Thank you! I've been wanting to know how to eco dye; now I just HAVE to try it! Yours are the prettiest I've seen! Thank you again
Thanks for watching!

The thing I appreciate most about you, Shannon, is how you always unselfishly promote other artists, but of course I always love your ideas, execution, and genuine sense of wonder at your results.
Thanks so very much Susan!

The mauve flower is vetch. Those came out so awesome and brilliant!!!!!!!!!!! I really love 💕 this, and I’m going to definitely have a go at this. Thank you so much Shannon xxx Mags

Crown vetch was used along the highways for weed control in PA back in the day.
now i didn't know that... :)
Awesome papers! Your video was great and a great tutorial, very easy to follow and definitely makes me want to try it.
Thanks you for posting it.
Really AWESOME tutorial and results! I was waiting for you to pull out some hemlock. And then the internet would groan with a collective, "Nooooooo!" Hahahaha ;-)

Those sneaky ivy leaves!
"Mwahahaha!" ~Ivy leaves
I remember watching one and she had these pretty purple flowers which I recognised as Nightshade.. lol she seemed fine after :)
Oh ma gosh!!! Think I'm going to try this this weekend! Tfs, Shannon! ♡
Great weekend project!
simplemente bello un besazo y mi like
Thank you!
Te quedo precioso Shanon, saludos desde Costa Rica.
Excelente trabajo.
Hey, you are making Stone Soup!!
LOL Yes I am!
looks like shale or slate
Do you think that's what gave the grey colour?
No, more likely if it's a mud stone, rock has to be thousands of degrees hot to change. Shale and slate are metamorphic and mudstone is sedimentary. Sedimentary is less stable and may release a mineral colour when boiled; may .....
I love you, your tutorials are very clear and you are very talkative which makes it interesting and funny. Have a great day.
I get a lot of criticism for the chit chat so I appreciate you very much!
I've always heard "Leaves of 3 let them be" That would be poison ivy. I love the way they turned out! I would love to do some but I just don't have the patience with my anxiety.
Thanks for watching Donna!
these are so cool looking. I really like the envelope that you showed 1st as you were separating the paper wet.
Me too!
Shannon, check out Carolyn Arnett on TH-cam as she has 2 videos on the how she does this and the results. Oh how interesting, I will definitely check her out. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for mentioning C Arnotte. Also check Nic the Booksmith. I think she got the best results of all.
Carolyn Arnett
They are really cool. So I guess I won’t throw out my large pan yet! Tfs. Blessings.
You'll need it the day after you toss it ;)
Indeed, that always happens to me! Glad I saw your vid before tossing my large pan out. Had been thinking about that, lol. God bless, Lenneke
You could throw old tea bags in there too!
Great idea!
Ooooh, and different kinds of tea...
I sometimes buy tea that I end up not liking the taste, so I save those for tea dyeing!
I felt like it’s Christmas unwrapping these gifts. Very cool.
Each page was a surprise!
Those were Oak leaves. You should get a book on trees and plants of your area and study it. Would probably be a big help.
It probably would!
not only that but there are a few hundred different kinds of OAKS hahaha
Deb Cobern I agree. Knowing the tree name would make communication clearer and more exact. These are beautiful.
Shannon Green this is amazing!!!
you mentioned poison ivy. Some plants have poisonous juices you may not want to make a stew of that and breathe in vapors or expose your skin.

LOL Thanks Debra!
Super cool! Too bad I live in the desert where every plant has sharp spikes lol
LOL Deadly technique for you!
What about trying vegetable leaves like beets, purple cabbage etc left from preparing food?
I live in New Mexico and have the same problem. But, I just gathered what I could and tried this. Willow and tamarisk worked beautifully. It wasn't easy, but I found enough to make a beautiful batch.
Omg your comment made me laugh so hard I had to run to the bathroom. I needed that!!! Thanks
JUST A PITY THERE ARE LAWS AGAINST SENDING GREEN STUFF, COULD HAVE SENT U A PACKAGE.
I watched this twice already! It’s fascinating and I have to do this! Thanks for the tutorial! I love it!
Give it a whirl!
So cool! I need to find myself a pot! I've heard that you need to boil outdoors because of chemicals released. Is that true? Thanks for sharing this, Shannon! ❤️
I have no idea about chemicals being released. I know that Rosemary does hers inside her studio and she's still relatively sane so... Heh ;)
Not so much the chemicals, but the smells might be a little MUCH for in the house!
Shannon Green hahaaaaa!!
There is a slightly not-too-pleasant odor if you stick your head right over the pot, but it doesn't stink up the whole house...not even close.
I heard that too. Someone suggested finding out which plants are tonic.first
Great testing and I love the results. I was excited to see each paper lifted to see the results. It was as if I was right there with you. Thanks so much for sharing.
And thank YOU so much for watching!
you made a veggie burger
Ha! Sure did :)
I love your selection of rusty metal pieces!!!
Thanks Debbie!
