    If you are building something like this, make sure axle and wheels are in good shape when buying used... lay down radiant barrier foam panels and then a floor, or pay to have the entire bottom of your trailer insulated and waterproofed with spray foam to cut down on headspace reduction of insulating reefer box. If you pack a trailer, do not pack it like it was shown intially. those reefer trailers, like home refrigerators, rely on air circulation or they get hot and cold spots, condensation and tendencies towards mold and other enviromental conditions that make product spoil faster . Leave plenty of air space around items and use fans to circulate air from high to low and side to side. Check out figure 8 oscillating wall mount fans for fairly cheap alternative to ventilations systems, although in a small space like that you may need something other than a small ac unit to allow ventilation.

    Thank you for this video Diego. I will need a walk-in cooler as my business scales next year and I can't have a walk-in cooler like Curtis because I do not own my home. This is extremely helpful.

    That's genius. I know a guy that worked in a commercial trailer manufacturer and in their reefers the test they used was keeping a 55 gallon drum of water from freezing with a candle in the winter.He claimed it never froze.

    Will that dry out veggies or mushrooms like a frost free fridge would?

      Sorry but checking the coolbot omg You can do the same thing for under a $100 with off the shelf parts.
      I spent the last 35 as general maintenance tech in the food industry refrigeration control was large part of it.
      One more thing window AC units do use a compressor thought I let you know .; )

    Good video. How about buying a couple good used fridgerators instead of a walk in? Probably only cost 200-400 dollars.

      Household refrigerators aren't big enough.

    Great idea ... But that cost of a cool bot is crazy! I guess it should pay for its self.. Idk

      With an AC unit it is cheap compared to a commercial compressor.

      The coolbot does seem expensive at first glance for a small plastic electronic controller, but I can assure you it is worth every penny. That trailer we built has totally transformed the way we farm, and made it possible to buy in product for our webstore and hold it fresh. If I have produce that doesn't sell at my weekend market, I can put it in the walk in, and sell it mid-week through our webstore. It's paid for itself many times over in saving product that I would have lost without the refrigeration. And the cost is cheap compared to a commercial walk-in compressor.

    how cold can the cooler get?

    • @DiegoFooter
      @DiegoFooter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CoolBots can be set down to a target temperature of 32°F (0°C), but most customers use their CoolBots in the 38°F - 40°F (3.3°-4.4°C) range, which is where most veggies, meats, and prepared foods are recommended to be kept (most fridges are set at 38°F (3.3°C)).As you push the cooler below 38°F (3.3°C), the A/C has to work increasingly harder. To the extent you want to push the temperature below 38°F (3.3°C), you can help by (a) increasing the A/C size, (b) decreasing frequencies of door openings, and (c) building an extremely well insulated cooler.Most customers with an R25 insulated cooler hit 36°F without any issues. Customers getting their coolers below 36°F (2.2°C) have the best-insulated coolers (with insulated floors), open their cooler doors less frequently and almost all oversize their A/Cs vs. our recommendation to be conservative.

      thank you , I'm building a mobile walk-in cooler for my pizza-shop, and I was debating between going with the traditional compressor unit or the Coolbot.

      what side of AC would you recommend for a 10x6x6

      Checkout the CoolBot site. The have a guide to sizing the AC to the room size.
