For a single ended signal going into, say, a Schmitt triggered input, how would it matter that edges are degraded? Isn't it much the same situation as evaluating the crossover point of two differential signals? Not sure I understand why one is much better than the other here.
Shouldn't we take care of the time which been spent to convert the data from series to parallel? In this consideration is the parallel bus more quickly than differential pair oder?
