Saw Deka Walmsley as the dad in Billy Elliot who was simply incredible in that role. He was also in the released DVD recording. Worth a watch. Would probably see this based on that previous role, if it hits London. But a little worried now following your review guys. Thanks again for an honest and balanced review. Chris
Great review - saw the show last Friday (opening night), wasn’t overly familiar with the story. I enjoyed it, apart from the ending - it just kinda stopped, & left you to think up what YOU thought happened - not a fan of such endings. Sorry I missed seeing you here in my home city of Nottingham. Hopefully see you on a future visit
I do struggle with understanding why a woman gets cast in a part written specifically for a man!! I would also struggle with a man playing a specifically female role!! I do not understand why that is even necessary!

Ibsen is one of the world's greatest playwrights but I can't get to Nottingham, so thank you for your review. Your format is still great!

oh, the hair, Simon
I thought Norway was one of the most progressive countries in Europe. Is that reflected in the adaptation of the play?
