Channing Tatum is 44, and he's starting to show that extra weight we all struggle with in middle age. You could see it in DP&W. The mutant saga isn't starting for at least 3 years. And unlike Wolverine, who's an old character and can lend himself to an older actor, Gambit is a slim, young, "heartthrob." That's a tall order for a man going into his 50's. I just don't see this as a role he'll be able to keep through another entire 10 year saga.
You get it. And I'm glad you also acknowledged Gambit's status as a heartthrob. He is the cool, young, attractive guy that all the girls wanna be with and all the guys wanna be. Casting a past-his-prime Channing Tatum in that role would make absolutely no sense.

@ghostchick5275 yes we do and he is the relief for the team outside of when they focus on his story! Remy is funny and charismatic but that doesn't take away from the serious part of his character!! You could do a Deadpool and Wolverine TVA Team that helps with branching timelines that maybe get out of control or if it’s a powerful hero/ villain that needs pruned
I like Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry and Channing Tatum, but if these characters are gonna be in the MCU for the next 10 years or more, you're gonna have to recast with younger actors, period.
Channing is perfect for Gambit but they’re looking for longevity. He’s in the 40’s club. They’re looking for late 20’s, early 30’s so he can grow with the multiple movies they wanna do 4:25
Everyone needs to be recast and renewed. EVERYONE. If they want to make a Wolvie/Deadpool trilogy, keep it separate from the main MCU mutant saga. Make it a completely separate universe. Then you can have Hugh, Channing, whoever the hell you want.
unpopular opinion Henry Cavill as Cyclops or Scott Eastwood as Cyclops.. then Ben Barnes as Gambit.. but yeah that was my castings 10 years ago..sadly now they are kinda old for a young Xmen MCU.
For the main team age-wise, my favorite stories in the comics are from when they were all like this: - Cyclops: around 30 y/o - Jean: around 30 y/o - Storm: mid to late 30s - Beast: mid to late 30s - Iceman: early to mid 20s - Angel: around 30 y/o - Gambit: mid to late 20s - Rogue: mid to late 20s - Jubilee: late teens - Kitty Pride: late teens - Colossus: around 30y/o - Nightcrawler: mid to late 20s - Wolverine: looks 40+ y/o (he doesn’t age, so it doesn’t matter) If they cast actors around those ages, I’d be happy.
I think after the reboot, they should have it so that a few universes remain. One of them would be the universe that the Deadpool and Wolverine franchise continues and they can have Channing Tatum's Gambit there. And then in the main MCU timeline, you can have the new actor play Gambit.
I prefer Nick Bateman - his two short films on youtube are awesome; Channing is too old, he is too bloated in the face, etc. His time is past unforutnately.
Oh stop it. He looked ridiculous and they had him saying garbage gambit would never say. Far from perfect casting. I’m convinced yall don’t think there are many actors in this world capable of ACTING.
He has a passion for Gambit, yeah, but simply does not look like him. His face is too wide; it looked like his mask was gonna split open at any moment. He's not lean enough either and he's obviously not a martial artist. And Gambit has just a slight cajun accent, not nearly as thick as what Tatum did; the guy who voices him in X-men 97 did a much better job. I do feel sorry for Channing though because he really does love Gambit, but that is not enough to do a character justice. There's a shortfilm here on youtube featuring Gambit, Rogue, Magik and Eric Roberts playing the badguy; THAT guy looks exactly like Gambit.

I hope we get new actors and actresses in secret wars through variants for each member. I think taron egerton or Daniel Radcliffe should be the new Wolverine. Sophia turner or sadie sink as Jean grey alexandra daddario as rogue. patrick schwarzenegger as cyclops Favorite Hero: Batman

I liked Channing Tatum as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. Part of that was in the fact that it was a one-off, keeping him on as Gambit would in hindsight make his story in Deadpool & Wolverine less impactful and interesting. They should cast someone else to play Gambit.

The more different versions we get of a character, the less we associate anyone with that character and the harder to will feel for the audience member to really see that person as that character. The good side for Marvel is that once characters are famous, they tend to ask a lot of money. However, all this multiverse stuff makes everything kind of meaningless. NO one is any character, so why would the audience care if there are 100 iterations of them? If one dies, well, then just take another.
