I'm that person. I'm scared of insects and I'm terrified by spiders and arachnids, but I still research them; particularly the arachnids. I learned which venomous spiders live in my area, and in which areas in my country which type of venomous spiders found there live, as well as a run down of their basic habits that might make them more dangerous. As an example, there's a type of brown spider that can be found on my state, albeit being more common down south, that has a habit of hiding in small spaces; in nature, this would mean it hides on tree holes or whatever, but here this causes it to hide on drawers and shoes; and this spider bites if it feel threatened, which includes if it's moved suddenly, and if it's being compressed or cornered against a wall or anything similar, plus it can bite you even through a thick sock. All of that leads me to always check my shoes, specially when they've been stored for a while, to make sure nothing snuck inside them. Also, bees are attracted to certain colours; if I remember right mostly yellow and white, that's because that's their favourite flowers' colours; and a bee mistaking you for a flower is cute and all until you startle them and they sting you. Gotta know your enemies' habits and how they work, so you can overcome them; or, in my case, avoid them and avoid a hospital trip or possible death.

I also store anything that sits for a while in airtight containers that are sprayed with human safe bug spray regularly and rotate those as well.

My coworker made friends with a bunch of crows after she rescued one that got caught in a wire behind our workplace. She set him free, and I learned crows have insanely good memories. They remembered her, and he and his crow buddies will show up on days she works and caw at her or leave shiny trinkets. She sometimes gives them seeds or small snacks but never directly interacts because, y'know, they're wild animals. But the craziest thing is after about a month of them showing up they would only show up on the days she worked. They learned her schedule. And if she didn't show up due to rescheduling I would go and give them some seeds instead. It was wild to see.
There was a family that fed crows in their backyard. One day the mom was out and about in town with her nice camera taking pictures at an event. She lost the lens cap and couldn't find it. She went home, and later that day she found the lens cap in the backyard where they fed the crows. They saw her at the event, they saw her drop the thing, investigated it, and carried it several blocks home for her.
Yeah crows can hold mad grudges too. To the point that they'll stalk you and harass you on a regular basis. And bring friends to gang up on you and bully you. But that's the other side.

More cool bug fact's: That bug isn't just capable of hurting you, its venom is corrosive, and basically has similar effects and sensations to car battery acid being injected under the skin. This is not a bug to piss off, because it will give you something to remember it by.

@@MatthewBrown64 if you ever need to do it again, metal trash can lid and a cowboy hat works best. At the farm I work at we can’t have any chemicals, so all wasp killing must be done by hand. Cowboy hats because of how large they are, plus how quickly they can move, makes it pretty easy to hit them out of the air. Once you do they’ll hit the ground, you have 5-10 seconds to then find and step on said wasp. The only real downside is to get this to work, you must first aggravate them to make them fly towards you. Which means hitting the nest with a broom. Afterwards, use the hat to swat the starter defense, for the average nest it’ll be 2-3. Then, use the trash can lid to deflect any second wave attacks. Usually there’s at least one, sometimes two or three depending on the nest and how many others are out. After all wasps have been taken out of the air and crushed adequately. Nock the nest to the ground, then simply stomp and twist. This will kill the larvae. I’d recommend doing this last, as not to provoke more wasps too quick.

As a kid I once caught a bee in a matchbox. The thing buzzed like HELLFIRE in there and I had no clue what to do. Eventually I quickly opened the box and threw it outside of our front door before the bee could come out, thinking it would just fly away. There was a window next to the door and I watched as the bee got out and flew away like 20 meters - only to turn around and accelerate towards me like an absolute rocket. It slammed against the window right in front of my face with such speed it almost sounded like a pebble or something. I never imagined such a small insect could have the emotional capacity to want to take revenge this badly 🙁

@@Ratchet4647 I once burned a wasp nest on the side of my house via the good ol Lysol + lighter, and oh my god did I underestimate those wasps. it was a small nest, thankfully, so only about 2 came out, but they were still flaming and coming right at me. ended up throwing the lysol can and running for my life after 5 seconds of spraying.

@@MatthewBrown64 if you ever need to do it again, metal trash can lid and a cowboy hat works best. At the farm I work at we can’t have any chemicals, so all wasp killing must be done by hand. Cowboy hats because of how large they are, plus how quickly they can move, makes it pretty easy to hit them out of the air. Once you do they’ll hit the ground, you have 5-10 seconds to then find and step on said wasp. The only real downside is to get this to work, you must first aggravate them to make them fly towards you. Which means hitting the nest with a broom. Afterwards, use the hat to swat the starter defense, for the average nest it’ll be 2-3. Then, use the trash can lid to deflect any second wave attacks. Usually there’s at least one, sometimes two or three depending on the nest and how many others are out. After all wasps have been taken out of the air and crushed adequately. Nock the nest to the ground, then simply stomp and twist. This will kill the larvae. I’d recommend doing this last, as not to provoke more wasps too quick.

Specifically that is the Asian giant hornet aka the "murder hornet" from a few years ago and with a bit of googling I found that hornets use there photographic memory for navigation
So even if the hornet recognises your face one of two things will happen
Either
A it stays away because it nearly got eaten near that landmark
Or B and this applies if you are close to the nest it will recognise you as a threat to the hive warn its buddies and before you realise it you have a swarm if these hornets on your ass

As a kid I once caught a bee in a matchbox. The thing buzzed like HELLFIRE in there and I had no clue what to do. Eventually I quickly opened the box and threw it outside of our front door before the bee could come out, thinking it would just fly away. There was a window next to the door and I watched as the bee got out and flew away like 20 meters - only to turn around and accelerate towards me like an absolute rocket. It slammed against the window right in front of my face with such speed it almost sounded like a pebble or something. I never imagined such a small insect could have the emotional capacity to want to take revenge this badly 🙁
