Interesting that you should choose the figure of -17°C as a reference point. That is exactly the temperature in which I used my hammock last winter. I have a Dutchware hammock and a down '360' top quilt and under quilt set from Cumulus. I have to admit, I was cold. I'm of an age now where I do feel the cold. It's also possible that I didn't quite adjust the underquilt correctly to maximise its insulation properties. Guess I'll have to give it another go this winter before all the snow disappears.
Can't lie that tip for chucking your storage bags in the UQ. . Sounds silly and simple BUT it's genius! I'm forever loosing them in the bottom of my bag come the morning!! Good shout Dan. . Congratulations again on 100,000 subscribers 👏👏🎉. . Please help me hit 1,000 😂😢😅
I’ve considered buying a down quilt but I’ve been using a sleeping bag unzipped like a quilt instead. I can’t see much difference but at least with a sleeping bag, you can use it like a conventional bag if you want to.
Brrrrrrrrr 🥶 🧊 ☃️ 🧥 ❄️ great video, Dan, braving those temperatures , 🥶 but I personally prefer a tent ⛺️ ❤, I thought those were your undies drying on the line 😂😂😂
Hey Dan. Great video again. I did make a previous comment. But someone, started to troll me. I remember your video, about that sort of thing. Hopefully, I can still make comments, to you. Thanks, and cheers 🍻 mate
i was out in the peak district from edale to grindslow knoll and itt was 45mph gust and -10 and -14 WIND cchill and waist deep snow in areas it takes alot out of you ! and i had 5 layers on lol
Nice video, i have always wondered how u use an under blanket, never knew about the top quilt... But would it not be easier to use a winter sleeping bag?
Muitos lindos aí amigo, aqui onde eu moro não têm neve ❄ eu moro no Brasil em Aracaju Sergipe. Você mora em Londres é muitos bonito e perigoso. Deus te abençoe e te protejas. Um abração. 🍀🌻💙🤍💚💛💙🤍🇧🇷🇧🇷
I was carrying my tools into a job today. And stopped waiting for the place to open.Snow, fog and -3.I thought to myself wonder if any of my camping subs on you tube have braved this? And here you are🤟
Absolutely fantastic hammock Dan went on to one wind website they are amazing I'm going to ask the wife if she can buy one thanks Dan for sharing this great video.
Dan when a sleeping bag says -17 that is the limit, but if you look at the information when you are going to buy something like that, there is a comfort number, Which is the one people should be looking at. Not the limit, MANY people get caught out like that. So please read the comfort number for sleeping well and warm. Not just stayin' alive. 🇬🇧😱🥃👍
Excellent video Dan Love the explanation of the lofting of the under blanket Really good and easy to understand Keep warm up north Love from the Solent ❤
I've got a One Tigris hammock and underquilt and Tarp, my partner has got a NapSack Hammock with a Snugpak Hammock Cocoon and One TigrisTarp, friends use D.D equipment. It's really each to their own.
I'd love to try this, but I'd also be scared to, as I'm so clumsy. I broke my foot and chipped my ankle just getting out of bed, after falling asleep with my foot under me, so who knows what damage I could do to myself with this. 😂
ive got a one tigris hammock so yes they do and quilts tars just not as much other bits as onewind dutchware superior gear hmk gear ect ect ect.. , send me sum snow..
Very Interesting to see a hammock set up, the test bounce makes sense! Better safe than sorry. Looks cosy Dan! Ideal weather for some experimenting cheers for sharing ❄️⛄ ❄️ ☃️
I would need to loose weight before i even think about laying in a hammock. I'd just think it'll give way and dump me on the floor. But i need to loose weight so maybe in the future.... 🤔
@CragScrambler I'm shorter by an inch but probably heavier, but I don't know because I haven't weighed myself in years. 😆 I need to loose weight anyway so it's just another reason to do it. 👍

Not including buckles is a bit strange.
I donr think it would be great setting it all up in the rain or heavy snow fall
Lovely you did not need your mosquito protection net this time of year 😋 creations from Sweden 😊😊👌👌

Really enjoyed that
If you took the ridge line down, could you lie on top of the bug net and do the poppers up then? Stay safe and warm atvb 👍🦊
Are you talking fahrenheit or celsius?
Celsius
Gotta be honest, that looks massively uncomfortable.
Fair play for the review tho
Wack a tent up. Sorted

I'm 6'2" and 19 stone and am fine in an DDHammock, so if you're about my size you should be okay.
