  • Ingredients for Puliyodharai Powder:
    Chana dal: 1 tbsp
    Urad dal: 1 tbsp
    Coriander seeds: 1tbsp
    peppercorns: 1 tsp
    fenugreek seeds: 1/2 tsp
    red chilies (dry): 4 nos
    Asafoetida / Hing: 1/2 tsp
    Puliyodarai Mix:
    oil: 5-6 tbsp (gingerly oil is preferred)
    mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp
    Chana dal: 1 tbsp
    Urad dal: 1 tbsp
    Dry Red Chilli: 4 Nos
    curry leaves: 7-8 leaves
    Asafoetida / Hing: 1/4 tsp
    Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
    Peanuts: 1/4 cup
    Cashews: 1/4 cup
    Puliyodrai powder: mixture
    tamarind 1 big lemon sized: 1/4 cup in water for 30 minutes
    Water: (250ml)
    Rice: 1 bowl
    Salt as per taste
    Puliyodharai, also known as tamarind rice, is a famous dish from Tamil Nadu that is enjoyed for both lunch and breakfast.
