Film on Manavlok

In the early 1970s, a socialist group of youth began seeking solutions to local, social and political problems with the general aim of achieving a more just and happy society. After nearly 20 years of effort and agitations, however, they concluded that socio-political change was not possible without economic change. With this point of view in mind, they established MANAVLOK
in 1982, a voluntary organization for socio-economic upliftment of the rural poor. A new experiment in rural development was launched.
MANAVLOK has been developing its activities over an increasing scale, never straying from the tenet that programs be based on the specific needs of people. Soil and water conservation, a mobile health clinic, community wells for marginal farmers, legal support for destitute and deserted women, skill training for women and landless farmers, a hostel for impoverished college girls, the Employment for Community Development program, empowerment for the rural poor specially women, organizing small farmers, landless labourers, women and youth to solve their problems with available resources. These are just some of the important activities initiated.
