  • Hey guys, this is stop 2 of 2020. It's March and I'm Fly Fishing the San Juan River New Mexico for 6 days. I was looking for a winter destination and after talking to Fisheads, decided to drive up and fish the Juan. All I can say is, it was awesome! So awesome, I had to make this video 2 parts (link at end of video). Wade fished for 4 days and kayak fished one day. Hope you guys like the video.

    It's a nice tailwater beside a paved road. I have floated from Texas Hole and shuttled with my fatbike, but you did it right by hiking up from there towards the dam and wading. Nice. Very coolio. De Opresso Liber.

    This guy is just so mellow and down to earth. I don't fish with other people often but I wouldn't definitely fish with this guy. As I say this I see a stone fly on my window so I am off to fish spotted bear

    One may stay at the Navajo Lake campground 10 minutes away above the dam for $15 a day which includes the San Juan day use fee. Can't beat that! 😁

    Drew : Enjoy your videos Would like to see you talk about the flies ( size and name of fly) you use and your rod/ line set up ( if a dropper, how far up etc.)for the water you are fishing.

    Hi Drew, I'm planning to fish the San Juan River in a couple weeks and while searching TH-cam saw the trip you took there 5 yrs ago. Looks awesome.
    Did you use a 4/5 setup or 6wt for those bigger fish? My 3/4 wt, 6 wt and euro nymphying rod will be my weapons of choice.
    Take care and tight lines.

    Member of healing water group in CO. Will be “healing “ Dec-feb. would love to plan a March trip and tie some flies. What nymphs and dries do you recommend? Also, I have a bellyboat. Do you think that may work too?
    Thanks for your insight and great videos. I really enjoyed the rivers you fish in the videos

    Hey Drew, great video! I'm from CO but have an opportunity to fish the San Juan in a couple weeks and was wondering where you are staying in this video? I'm hoping to find an affordable place to crash for one night. Thanks!

      Man, I want to get back this winter. Just waiting for them to open back to out of state visitors. So Abe's is probably your best option for 1 night and reasonable!

    Do you ever fish dry flies? I see almost all nymphs w/ strike indicators in your videos.

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the time. There were some dry fly eats in the Juan series, part 2 for sure. Almost all of my Colorado and Wyoming (part 2 and on) series is dry flies!

    Planted Fish, Lazy fish, Contained fish, Deceased fish, No wild trout here and payed for 12x the recycled cost of used fish. That's the only fish you will find on The San Juan River in New Mexico the dirtiest river in the west. San Juan the biggest hidden Trap for fishermen! The Pecos has clean free fighting wild trout and believe me you will know the difference!

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear ya. Also heard there were a bunch of stocked rainbows in the Pecos?
