Love using my kayak, been a weird year...avoided getting shuttles or I would have used it more on my tailwaters. But, redfish season is here for me, so hopefully no more hurricanes in sela!
Thanks for making this. Good memories. My home water for 3 years during the glory years of the 1980s. When the flows were consistent, water temps were in the low 40s year round, not a brown to be found above Cottonwood Campground and rainbows is the 20’s even 30s everywhere.
The San Juan is such a goofy trout fishery!!..LOL.......Like fishing in an aquarium in places.....but it sure is fun......I went 4 times a year back in the 90's for a decade.........Does the water still run a cold 40 degrees?.......Great video!!
Started fly fishing the SJR last year and knowing that you come here every year is an extra movitation to keep fishing that amazing river. Hopefully one day I’ll find you fishing on the river. PS: do you come here in NM always around February-March? I’ve seen in one of your recent videos that you were back on the SJR a month ago or so. Anyway, love your channel man. Keep up the great fishing and great work 🤙
Great 2 vids on the SJ! I live just north of Nashville and taking my father-in-law there as soon as the park opens back up, planning on camping at the Navajo Dam park. Ive fished it years ago and was like you, one of my top destinations for sure. I tie all of my flies and the tailwaters around here are pretty much a midge fishery like the SJ...what patterns/colors were they liking and were the dries adults or emergers? Cant wait to get out there!
Thank you! Mostly black midges. Had the most success with a poly wing emerger. Dries were great in the afternoon sz 22 mostly behind a larger pattern I could see...no name for it just something I came up with.
Man I’m so glad you got rid of the music. Still love these videos but I love to hear the river flow and watch your indicator! Such good content
Amazing channel man
So cool man. The life right there.
First time seeing you in your kayak and was a different view that helps me refine technique. Thx Drew!

So I've heard. Can't imagine those days, especially since it's crazy now!
Nice vid. You must have got there right before the state parks were closed due to Covid 19.
Thats why no ones there fishing.. he just got lucky he didnt get caught.
Michael Roybal It sucks but on April 9th it’ll be hot
Yeah, I was there when they closed the park to camping and a few days later the river. Super lucky!
@@Lifeofcorre the 30 th now I believe but it's going to be crazy good!
@@funckycoMEDINA I was there the week before not after they closed the park lol!
I live a couple hours from the san Juan . me and my 8 year old son JoJo go sock it to em couple times a month !. keep the awesome vids coming Drew! 👍
I was just thinking about the juan, such a cool stream. Definitely planning on it!
@@LooknFishy yeah man its a really unique place .. Packed with nice fish ! 👍

So very true. Not sure I'd go anytime other than winter now. I know my beer felt like it was on ice after letting it soak for 30 mins!
@@LooknFishy February is great, cold but good fishing, river is pretty much empty, same stuff....Wd-40's, midge patterns, etc...etc.....
Awesome!
Thx dude!
Thanks for the Closed Captions. Much appreciated. The "music".....not so much. Don't need no steeeeenking music (please).
Amazing fish . I hope to make it down there one day. Great vid and thanks for sharing 👍
Much appreciated, I'm definitely going back soon...maybe for ant season...that would be a killer kayak trip!
Um - You like drove off and left your go pro in the parking lot at the end there - In case you were looking for it?
What a trip!
man you're fast...sure appreciate it man!
Man you get around
I stay busy for sure! Just got home from another trip lol!
Glad New Mexico was good to you, one of my favorite rivers here , long day trip drive from Albuquerque but worth it every time
Yep, I'd be there once a month if I were that close. Great river!
What was your rod setup there?
Thank u, the orvis h3f, 10ft 4wt has become my favorite rod!
@@LooknFishy I’ve been wanting that rod, pretty light and fast?

@@LooknFishy awesome man! I have plenty pol wings tied up and should be good...looking forward to getting bak to the SJ, thanks for the input!
Did you have someone shuttle your car down to where you took out?
Yes, forget the guys name but everyone uses him. I just called Abes and asked for the shuttle guy's number.
Sweet thank you, I haven’t thought about a kayak on more chill rivers
@@kyle_juhl4716 I think a kayak is a great choice on the Juan...can re-run the same drifts all day!
@@LooknFishy yea, I would imagine it is easier to row than a raft or drift boat.
Who is monster? The human themselves or the poor harmless fish?
Neither!
