The way he lives his life it makes sense that people in his life didn’t really care how he was doing in jail and were more concerned about what he could still do financially for them.
This is what I don’t get about the alpha male culture. It’s not versatile enough for the unpredictable nature of life so it’s makes no sense to subscribe to. Because the alpha can only be alpha on good days, he can’t get cancer, he can’t die, he can’t get disabled , he can’t get old etc because everything else falls apart including huge impact to children or child brides. Partnership relationships are more resilient to the unpredictability of life.
Urgh its the fact this is a clear PR stunt that I cannot take this seriously, it is his way to rebuild an audience and get more people to feel sorry for him and think he's a good person which is just a classic narcissistic move. If he is indeed a sex trafficker than it saddens me that anyone is bothering to empathise with him, it's rude to his victims, he is not a victim of anything but the consequences of his own actions.
I think it’s critically important we, as advanced humans in 2023, really understand that EMPATHY is different from SYMPATHY. Dr. Kirk would not be able to have his profession if he only practiced selective empathy. The incarceration system would be a torture-house without empathic reasoning, that gives us restorative and rehabilitative justice and humane treatment of inmates. Empathy is NOT sympathy - even though this is a PR stunt, I agree. Empathy is a HUMAN TRAIT.
I say this as a survivor of childhood SA and former adult dancer. I would be in far worse condition if I didn’t learn about trauma cycles and empathic understanding of intergenerational SA.
@@Ms.Prairie I get that but I didn’t say he is sympathising I said he is empathising, when instead he could just not cover this at all. Sometimes we don’t need to cover these toxic people giving them constant air time when that’s exactly what they want, Andrew Tate isn’t worth the air time.
@@Ms.Prairie but I understand I am biased and probably just a bit upset because I was abused by a narcissist and it destroyed my life for two years so I’ll own that. The way Kirk describes narcissistic abuse is from the eyes of someone who hasn’t experienced it first hand and doesn’t actually realise the gravity of their behaviour on a partner etc. again it’s fine to have empathy, but there’s a fine line when discussing people that hurt others that’s all I’m saying.
So were you're wrong with what you said about it being a "PR stunt" is that he does GAF about the people who dont like him. He's NOT trying to cater to all the people who are skeptical of him. He only cares about the people who understand his message and agree with him
If I am not mistaken, I think he spoke about it in one of the podcasts. I think if you search for gilmore girls and psychology in Seattle you'll find it.
Yeah, it's been a while since I watched it, but from my limited memory, I think Rory might have been lost in some ways - like, her choice in men, her direction in life, etc. - because of the ways her mom acted. But I'm sure it's way more complicated than that.
I find it quite interesting that Rory ended up repeating the same scenario. Both women have the same name and I don't think it's a coincidence how things turned out. Lorelai literally says in the first episode she wants Rory to have everything she didn't have. Rory probably will end up a single mother herself. I also think the father figures were problematic . Anyway, thanks for taking the time to leave me a reply. I love psychology and your content.
When Andrew says he didn't have time to feel pain I would have asked about the pressure he feels, which he goes into anyway. It's a feeling I very much relate to. I think by going after that we could have tapped into feelings more - but I'm only I'm only in practicum, so I don't know. I would love to watch Dr. Honda do therapy and actually see his style in practice (If he ever wanted to do that and get consent from clients etc.).
He doesn't give himself time to feel pain and for him it's incredibly destructive because he never adjusts course as a result and runs people over and then crashes into a wall
It seems that he believes his self-delusion is the reason for his success. I think if he would let go of that he wouldn't know who he was or if he could be "successful".
omfg I know so many straight men who have watched Gilmore Girls multiple times through it's so funny 😭 What is it so addicting about this show for us I love it lmaooooo
Well obviously I have no idea what the culture was like for you growing up in your home, but my thought towards your question is that Rory and Loralai have a relationship that straight men lack (at least with each other) because of the way straight men are socialized by our society in general (again, I don’t know what it was like for you in your immediate family/community.) You /straight men are getting a look at what it would be like to be open about all your vulnerabilities and have them be received in a vulnerable way within the context of a same-sex and platonic relationship. Women are more socialized for the kind of relationship that Rory and Loralai have. That doesn’t mean all of us have that, but it’s more acceptable…I mean, they did make a very successful show out of it haha
It's not about whether or not the things Andrew says at time make sense and sound good. It's all a mask and disingenuous. I know someone who has very similar walls up, and let me tell you, it's nothing but destructive.
He might be a psychopath too… that would explain him not feeling pain and just being goal oriented, they are all narcissistic but also they don’t understand a lot of the emotions that a healthy brain has.
Consider changing the name of the videos to replace AT’s name with a descriptor (like misogynist, or defendant in r*pe and human trafficking cases). AT makes money from social media / trending algorithms. So every mention (even when critical), and every audience engagement (including likes and this comment), directly or indirectly boost his income. There is strong evidence that he spends that money on human trafficking and abusing others. At minimum, his coaching business encourages s*xual assault, and it’s not hard to find that in his own words. I didn’t want to watch or engage with this series because I didn’t want my engagement to fund abuse by even a penny. I appreciate and can learn from Dr. Honda’s insights, however. I’m sure Dr. Honda can continue his channel without contributing to or benefitting from AT’s dubious & harmful “business.”
Hi Dr Honda. Would you at some point consider doing a podcast about psychology of Elon musk. Would love to hear your analysis given some of elons mental conditions and his upbringing.
Sadly no one in the comment section can help you directly with this. I’m not sure where you’re from, but hopefully you have access to a counselor, or a local library where you can check out books to get you started. BetterHelp also might give you the tools you need to find a therapist right for you, I would search that online.
One of the things that really sets therapists apart is that they first gather information about your symptoms and then they should be working together with you to develop goals that reduce those symptoms. The problem is no one on the internet really know you personally in order to help you. I know 17 years is a long time but they say finding the right therapist is like finding your spouse. It can take a lot of trial and error to find the right fit. Even then, clients also have to be able to be open and and give feedback about what is and what isn't helping for them. Meaning that you might have to try a variety of therapists and a variety of approaches to see what makes sense for you. It's also a good thing to remember that change and progess is slow. Lasting progress is slow. That can often mean we don't even notice it when it's happening. I know for me personally, I am very different than who I was 10 years ago. I a lot less underfunctioning than I use to be, I've gotten better at boundaries and assertiveness. However, it never actually feels that way, but I compare my past and my present and there definately has been change even though I have a long way to go. I think therapy has helped but really I also know it was me me doing the work and making choices/changes one step at a time.
