Thank you for this marvelous video! Shows you all the access points. I think the 830 record is a lot easier to open up and service. In the end, it is always about how easy it is to maintain.
@mjremy2605 I will do a quick comparison between the Bernina 830 and 930 Record, Bernina 830 Record is a good old classic, without electronics, while Bernina 930 Record is a slightly more complex model but also with more options, Bernina 930 Record also has electronics that are very simple for today's circumstances but effective for smooth sewing and strong piercing power for the needle. Both sewing machines have their own advantages and disadvantages, in my opinion the Bernina 930 Record is a better sewing machine, but a little more difficult to maintain. Thank you for your response and for your comment, greetings to you in the distant and beautiful California from Bosnia, you may not have heard of Bosnia, it is a small country in Europe.
It's a very annoying situation, it happens because the cover lock is not good, the problem is a small lock or free hand damage.. Check the position of the lock on the cover to see if it is worn or broken.
I thought that after watching this I might service my machine. I need explanation and better video. Numerous times he reached into the machine and did "something" and that's when things get broke, bent or misaligned by a DIY person. Still don't know what the rubber-band was all about. He obviously knows what he is doing but I'll take my working machine in for servicing and if they screw it up it's on them.
Rubber band keeps the door where the bobbin is, closed. Without it the door just flops around and could get broken. The second rubber band holds the lock arm back so the hand wheel can be turned freely.
Yes, that's a big difference, the Bernina 930 Record is for me the best and most versatile sewing machine ever. Bernina 930 Record Service Manual: www.masinskikutak.com/2021/09/bernina-service-and-adjustment-vintage.html

The free arm cover has started to pop open while sewing. Do you have any ideas why this happened? Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. The 930 is not that different from the 730 which I inherited 5 years ago so I can apply the same methods to cleaning it.
