    Thank you guys for doing what you do! As a new Magic player, watching people play a game on MTGO is so dull that my brain wants to implode... and most of the time I don't even know what's going on! The commentary and explanations of WHAT the cards are and WHY they are a good choice in x or y situation is invaluable! AND the show is really engaging, entertaining, and helps me feel more connected to the game of Magic as a whole. You guys rock! Keep it up!

    So THAT's how the sausage gets made. Amazing results of an amazing amount of work and talent. Also, getting such wonderful guests on the show has been great, but I hadn't thought of how much would have to go into physically getting the guests there, let alone all the extra work that the guests themselves have to put in both during and after the game when it seems so natural in the finished video. Well worth it, however. Good luck staying true to Josh's vision to always be improving, you've set a high bar, and as they say "Only 1 ma-. . .hundred hours of editing until the next game knights!"

  • @MagictheGreatening
    @MagictheGreatening 6 ปีที่แล้ว +92

    I feel like the people who demand GK episodes once every 1-2 weeks have no idea how to edit. Even my short 5 minute low quality deck tech videos take about 6-8 hours of scripting, recording, re-recording, and editing. I assumed GK videos took about 400 hours to edit and I was almost correct. We as an MTG community do appreciate all the little details you put in to these videos and hopefully this video opens the eyes a bit more to the nay-sayers. Keep up the great work guys!

      @CrossVaniaGames 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally true! I don't even make MtG content, but depending on the video, it could take me ages to finish scripting, recording, and editing. This just gives those nay-sayers a chance to see what it is that they go through

    I love Game Knights because I like seeing the thought process of when to play cards, or what to play. Due to this I would love to see more of them, but I do understand the amount of time it takes to edit these. This video made me aware that it is even more time than I thought. Thank you to all of the MTG community that produces the videos I have become addicted to watching and/or listening to!!

  • @bladerunner2006
    @bladerunner2006 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for this one guys, I was actually very curious how you did things, especially with the interviews about the plays.
    Also, like many others here pointed out, you‘re really the only show out there where someone who‘s not a complete pro can actually understand what‘s going on. Seeing every card up close, having explanations for the more complex interactions and the proper pacing really make a difference.
    Most shows just have one camera looking at the playing field from the top and a card reader, where you can see a slightly bigger version of the card, but it doesn‘t even always work.
    Looking at you, LRR.
    The bottom line is, you obviously put a lot of grit into these videos, and it totally shows. Success well deserved.

    I want to say that sadly i have never played a commander game once. And i dont have friends who would like to play MTG.
    So what do i do? I watch every video what is about commander. My favourites are the Game Knights. I appreciate the work and effort you guys put into this.
    You guys and your guests are making me laugh so many times, especially the Fan game with JACOB, he was so brilliant. Invite him again!
    Well i love your videos, the quality, the cutting, also the music is chosen perfectly.

    I really enjoy Game Knights. I only started playing Magic in December 2017, and I appreciate that there’s enough explanation of what’s going on that I can follow the action; I’ve tried watching some other actual play videos, and nobody else explains what’s happening. Not only do I learn when I watch Game Knights, but it’s also very enjoyable.
    Keep up the good work.

    The best part was Graham from Loading Ready Run at 19:00 recording video of the Command Zone stage setup to bring back knowledge learned to the LRR crew to make their own sets. We live in the best timeline.

    No idea how much work it took but it's worth it. The editing makes it look seamless and love the popouts of the cards since I'm just learning. I think I enjoy it more knowing the love you guys put into it. Keep on keepin' on!

    Thank you so much for all your hard work making these games for us to watch. I love the pacing, the cards jumping up so we see it, explaining things, and having these guests on showcasing the cool deck creations. Love this show!

    Much respect for all the work you do. Also, that 'window' you run Geoffrey Palmer's Living Cards on is such a great idea.

    I just want to thank both of you for all the hard work you out into these videos. A couple of weeks ago I had hip surgery (which sucks) but have basically been binge watching a lot of your video content which has helped out pass the time. I still have 5 1/2 weeks left of recovery time so I look forward to the future videos that are to come out. Again thank you for what you do for the Magic community :)

    I love you guys and at this point you are probably one of the only TH-cam channels that I watch. I go on basically every day to check if new episodes are out and I hope that you continue to make game knights.

    This was a great look into all the work it takes to make the show, really interesting and seems like alot! This made me pumped for a few future videos for sure, particularly the episodes with Lrr, and a commander game with wedge. It is crazy how far you guys have come since the early days of the podcast, it's been awesome to see!

    You guys are freaking awesome. Like, I understood this series in particular takes an immense amount of time and effort to produce, but this helps paint a much clearer picture of just how much. Y'all do some incredible work that never disappoints, and it truly has evolved beautifully since the first Game Knights. I'm more than happy to support the show in all the possible ways I can. Card Kingdom, Patreon...I even got myself a shirt. Totally worth it. Here's to another fantastic year! Best of luck!
