New Order: ICB @ Celebration 1981

- Filmed in Granada Studios in Manchester in 1981. Unfortunately Barney's guitar was much too loud for the first half of the song...
Line of force from heaven
A tear in a strangers' eye
When it goes forever
Where all things never die
People look whenever
These races have been won
Lives just go on breathing
When these moments have just begun
It's so far away
And it's closing in
It's so far away
It seems to draw me in
Taken from the killing ground
By an all-providing hand
With no sense or reason
They came down (??)
(??? forgive me, I'm not sure
what he's saying ???)
This is what I'm rolling for (???)
(?????)
This is much more immersive than I had anticipated the song to sound live.
So dark and cold what a beautiful track....
other than the original version from the Movement album. this is def one of my favorite recordings of I.C.B
you can def see and hear the ghost of joy division and the influence of Ian's frontman style in this performance. young New Order was so damn good.
Velvet Underground meets Kraut Rock...immense.
Gillian is the most underrated musician in history. No Gillian, no New Order.
Bullshit on an epic scale statement. GF of Steve's so auto hired
LOL
covers barney's awful lead guitar effort here lol
@@leafsinseven what are you talking about?
Oh that's new. An early New Order gig with Hooky facing the audience...
David Davidson it was released years ago on an official New Order dvd, with rare 80s live footage!!!
It's so good to have these videos, even if Gillian's guitar is too loud.
'Movement' was a cool album...."retrospective reviews for Movement have been very positive" says Wikipedia.
Guitar is just right
One of my fave NO post Ian songs. The Peel session is the best version worth listening to be honest. This live version comes together towards the end nicely
Barney Sumner playing the guitar like Marty McFly when he's fading out of existence at his parent's dance....
Reason maybe Guitar was too loud..in Hookys book "Substance" he said they were not able to do a sound check before going on due to union rules...
I believe it is Gillian's guitar, not Barney's, which is too loud. The loud guitar continues when Barney holds the mic and starts singing.
Yeah but to loud
awesome! thanks for posting this! at first glance they sound sorta bad but theyre just experimenting. theyre actually quite brilliant. exp. Stephen morris!
this is the gilian guitar who is louder... nayone that has eyes can see it. barney is not playing the "loud sound" at all...
...excellent upload....
Should have had more camera on Gillian, prolly her greatest guitar action in 81 other than on Truth
Excellent!
this is an awesome version of icb, which is one of my all time favorites off movement but the intro guitar bonkery's a little much haha still awesome regardless.
I think it was Hannet's idea for the plucky guitar parts.
This makes me 😊
Ian Curtis Buried .
I think this is the only time it opens with "manna falls from heaven"
Its not that Bernie is too loud, its Gillian out of tune on second guitar that comes in first. She's usually pretty "adequate" on the guitar (so to speak) but not at the start here.
Line of force from heaven...
Also, the last half of the second verse is just nonsense because it's not the lyrics from any version I know.
4:08 ian curtis lives...
The line is "with no sense or reason, making final demands", I think.
ICB = Ian Curtis Buried.
It was actually the name of the transport company, International Couriers Business
guau! summer posessed by curtis!!
actually it's "manna falls from heaven".
Luca prodan ..divididos por la felicidad....its the same song..with other lyric..

The early eighties.
@radialaxis
That´s definitely Gillian´s guitar. Look at 1:20. The sounds don´t match the hand movements...
yes, and she fixes the effect right around there as well
hey listen SUMO divididos por la felicidad. New Order piece of thieves

For what of that
or (B) Mana falls from heaven :-\
robo a SUMO
