She wrote this from the side chick's point of view while actually going through a divorce because she was the wife in real life. The emotions in this video are real.
She was inspired by Reba’s song “Whoever’s in New England” from the mistress’s pov.
I was told she had just found out her husband was cheating on her, and she wrote it for him. No matter why it was, the song is emotional and from the heart.

This video was done in 1 take. The director wanted them to do it again, but Kristen ( the guitarist) said no. It was to emotional for Jennifer.

Not correct. Actually, she broke down on the first take and he stopped production because it was too hard to watch and sent everyone out of the room while she gathered herself and offered to send everyone home but Jennifer said no, and they did at least 3 more takes, and she cried on all 3 of the rest and it was extremely hard for him to watch. Most of what they use in the video however, is from the first take - but there's splices from all the takes in the video.
Jennifer Nettles has the epitome of country voices. They wanted her to do this video several takes and her bandmate fought to not because it broke her. Those tears are real.
I still get chills. Jen Nettles is a BOSS.
During the production of this video, she really did break down and cried and the footage was so powerful they kept it in finish product. So those tears you saw are real

Yup, Sugarland is amazing. Jennifer and Christian are outstanding. I'd suggest Stuck Like Glue for another Sugarland video and a much lighter feel.

This was such an emotional video for her to record. She was being cheated on and rather than write another song from the wifes side, she wrote it from the view of the other woman.. and it still broke her heart to do.

I wish more "side chicks" would realize that the married man they are messin' around with either have 1) no intention of leaving their wife or 2) if they will do it WITH you they will most likely do it TO you if they do actually leave their wife. (not all of them but a large portion of them)

Baby Girl is a great Sugarland song. They have many. Also Jennifer Nettles sings with Bon Jovi on Who Says You Can't go home.
That song and especially the video hits you right in the feels. I love the raw emotion by Jennifer and how she’s hurting, begs him to stay with her, but develops strength as the song progresses until she tells him to stay away. This topic may be uncomfortable for some but Country tells it like it is and if there’s any emotion that you’re dealing with, this genre will bottle those feelings up and make music that will hopefully help you. Great songs along the lines of this one, about infidelity, realizing your mistakes, or even getting the courage to break free from a damaging relationship are All These Years by Sawyer Brown; Promises, Reasons I Cheat, and Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart by Randy Travis; It’s Your Call by Reba McEntire; and You Were Mine by the Dixie Chicks. Wonderful reaction. Jennifer has an amazing voice and they have a ton of great songs. This one always hits hard, because I have been in that position. I feel every emotion that she shows.
I have a different experience of this song. Our mistress was the Marine Corps. At any minute he was gone. When I was in it, I couldn't see the end of one day. The Corps definitely got the best of him. We are still married, he's retired but damn was it hard. The Corps was the big green mistress that he would do anything for.
