I agree. Sims 2 was the best, sims 3 was a nightmare that would just make your computer crash and overheat and sims 4 just doesnt have enough fun things to do unless you pay 100s of dollars.
Sims 2 was such an adult game, Sims 3 was not that chidish either but afterwards... They basically made the game for much more younger audience. Sims 4 is unplayable without mods, at least for me. I hope they don't continue to this "childish" gameplay type in their further Sims titles.
Sims 2 and 3 are my jam (I’m 32) and sims 4 is my daughters jam (She’s 12) lol. So I agree with this. I’ve been a Sims player since the very beginning and Sims 4 is my least favorite, I never play it.
yep I agree with this. sims 2 was probably my most played of the sims series. Sims 3 has more stuff you can do, so naturally it is better, but the child like play in sims 4 is alright... but yea, I like the older ones due to this factor.
The Sims game taught my son to read because it associated written words to specific objects and actions. He started out asking "What does this say" and after only about a month, one day he asked "Does this say make coffee?" and it did, and seriously within 2 months after that with some extra help and rewards, he was reading fluently.
I also learned English while playing especially this game. Because as you said this game is needed to be looking at what it says. And at first, I wouldn’t even know what each words actually mean (except the most known ones like; water, yes, no, book, computer and basic ones etc.) I always had a keen on to somethings that I’m obsessed with and wanted to grasp and learn the language because I wanted to know what it was saying on the screen and what my household is going through. And then, I was translating each sentences on Google Translate on my phone without even getting bored. By the time goes on, I started to don’t look up the translate that much. I was like 14 it’s when the sims 4 first released. I immediately went to shop and got it. However before the sims 4, I played the sims 2 less tho. Because it was boring to play it and the graphics were not that great and alluring for me. Then, I spent most of my time playing the sims 3, loved it, but somehow I didn’t even involve in to look up the translator. I speak 3 languages; Turkish, Sign Language and English. Now I’ll turn 23 on 27th August and currently majoring in English Literature. And studying French. Then Spanish will come after it. 😊
I started out on the sims 3 when I was 11 and I remember being SO dissapointed by the sims 4…. Sims 2 and 3 literally beat it in every aspect, it feels so limiting and I think that’s the reason they’ve brought out about two million expansion/stuff/game packs. I literally just don’t play it anymore and I’ve gone back to playing the sims 3 cause I just don’t have fun playing the sims 4
Sameee, I remember preordering sims 4 and practically buzzing when it finally arrived. Plugged in my lil plumbob emotion light that came with the preorder and then... Was bored. Was completely underwhelmed. I know now from friends and TH-camrs that they have added a shit tonne of packs to make it alot better and fill in the gaps but a) the lack of a second hand market so you don't have to pay a billion dollars on origin sucks and b) I don't think I'll ever get over the utter disappointment of being so so excited for the Sims 4 only for it to be a hollow unfinished game
The jump from The Sims to The Sims 2 was amazing. I'm feeling so much nostalgia. I started with The Sims and The Sims 4 seems like it would have come after The Sims, gameplay wise.
Yeah while the graphics were better and the world's, the personality wasn't there. The sims 2 personality with the sims 3 worlds and graphics would be the best. Maybe with a hint of the scary from sims 1. Making Magic was the best magic expansion of them all. It wasn't all in your face, it was actually mysterious and you had to figure it out. I really hate they stopped the memories aspect out of everything probably
aaahhh the Sims ... you either play for three weeks day and night, forgetting your real family and friends, not eating or sleeping, or you don't play for months. No in-between. ❤️
Looks like I found a way to do it then: usually I play Sims on the weekend only because once I start I find it difficult to stop, even if it ends up with me staying up past 2am😅
Sims 3 had it all!! Best game packs, best interactions, interesting sims, colour wheel, open world... Sims 4 isn't even half of that tbh. I only play the Sims 4 because the modders and cc creators are super talented and do give us good gameplay.
I am a Sims 3 player as well. Sims 3 was an extremely ambitious project for its time, especially with the Into The Future Pack. I only wish the Sims 3 is a newer game made with more modern technology and has better optimization, so more people can actually enjoy it without experiencing so much bugs, and thus, more people will understand why the Sims 3 deserves many loyal fans. Gameplay wise, the Sims 3 offers a highly immersive, realistic, and customizable experience. FYI. I actually use the Sims 3 to recreate scenes from other video games, thanks for its fully customizable CAS system and palettes.
This gave me so much nostalgia. I remember being 8 years old, seeing The sims in the store and begging my mom for it. Pretty sure it was rated M. but It was so ahead of its time.
I damn near blew the house PC up trying to install The Sims!!! That old PC was def not a gaming computer and the poor game used to lag!!! Now im grown as hell still playing The Sims 4 on my Mac lol
@@vc6218 I think you do haha, I got the sims complete collection thingie, and we don’t have a “really” old pc, but it works fine, sometimes it will crash but that’s because there is too much going on. And maybe you had to click on “as administrator..” idk what is it in English but that worked for me
This brings back so many memories for me. I'm an introvert, and would sit in my parents basement at age 17 at my desktop computer playing The Sims for hours. I loved playing and creating families throughout the years of this whole franchise. I'm 38 now and still enjoy playing. I have a family of my own now, but when they all fall asleep it's like old times for me and I turn back into that 17 year old and stay up late playing Sims 4 for hours again 😍
lol I was like you back in school I would play the games, lol sometimes after I had woken up and got ready for school. I would pause the game and hoping that I could hop back on when I got home. LOL once I thought I paused the game as I headed off to school and when I came back my sims had all either aged up or kicked the bucket (DIED) or there were new family members lol. I was like "Miss Mary what did you do?" Luckly I was smart and saved the game but I did play with the newly created sims.
My heart ACHES for the sims 3, played it since I was about 8 yrs old and it is such a big part of my childhood, I understand what you say man, it hurts a little too much😔
That game was actually a present for my mum…. Guess who actually played the game HAHAHA but then the game crashed or the pc idk anymore, but yes those memories incredible
i feel so bad for those who only ever played TS4. I freaking love Onlyabidong!! His vids are awesome. I love watching videos like this. While I already know all this information or have seen others make videos similar to it, somehow you made it more interesting lol thank you.
I've only played the Sims 4 (starting this year- my pandemic hobby), and this helped me get more perspective on the Sims community. I play with most packs and a ton of mods. I sometimes think that because I have only played Sims 4, I am overall happier with the experience than people who played previous versions also- simply because I am not comparing it to anything! This was an enlightening video.
I actually played the Sims 3 for console first when I was 9 or 10 years old when I first saw my daddy play it. 💖 I also played The MySims spinoff series as well. And I do agree with everyone who say The Sims 3 is arguably the best in The Sims Franchise. I especially loved Create A Style and the open world! 🌈💖💕❤️ When I got to play The Sims 4, I got the console version and it honestly felt like an upgrade because I got to play with more than one family, unlike The Sims 3 for console. I was sad that Create A Style was gone and the loading screens were too frequent. I still can't believe that I have to wait between a loading screen when I want to visit a nextdoor neighbor. So I was annoyed about that. But I was happy to have more sims in my household, 8 instead of 6. I also got to experience Sims packs for the first time. From Expansion Packs to Game Packs to Stuff Packs. So I certainly love The Sims 4 and do admittedly think The Sims 4 have some improvements over the previous Sims games. However, I do think that there's plenty of room for improvement. ❤️💕❤️
This is a very well put together video. Way better than most that Ive seen about the sims timeline from more popular youtubers. Moral of the story, props to you for putting out such high quality videos! I love it.
The Sims (1) was my first computer game. Now I play the Sims 2. Which in my opinion is the best all around Sims game. The only thing that needs to change in the loading screen time and possible corruption which if it was remastered, those problems can be solved. I love this video! Thank you for making it.
This is super random but I've had such a shitty day. I work for the NHS and have such incredible burnout. I've just run a bubble bath, got a cold glass of pinot and am about to press play on your video. Again, apologies RANDOM ALERT, but this video is such a welcome treat to unwind. Thank you 💐😊
I wish I was within the community during the period between the sims and the sims 2, I can’t imagine the absolute thrill people must have felt upon seeing/ playing it with how it was overhauled
I loved seeing the progression from the sims to the 2nd gen and IT WAS AWESOME lol, I annoyed my mom each time I found something cool that was in the 2nd SIMS that was not in the og and my mom looked at me like IDK what the heck your talking about. and then when the 3rd game came out and that we could go out of our neighborhoods that was EPIC , I was very bummed when they took that away in the 4th game.
I love playing the sims 2 ultimate collection and sims 4 lately. However, my all time favorite game from the franchise is sims 2 castaway for ps2. Its so nostalgic. The island scenery is beautiful while the story is short and sweet and I loved decorating every area possible. I never get bored. Great video!
I Played Sims since 2001 .. Cant believe that im still playing it Hahaha.. Sims 2 remains my all time Favorite.. i had to skip Sims 3 cause i hated the look of the sims.. Sims 4 is the Most beautiful one of them all But really misses out on the gameplay. Im spoiled by sims 2
Same here. I’ve been playing since 2001 (earlier if you count SimCity). Sims 2 is my favorite. I skipped Sims 3, because I hated the way the sims looked. There were other things, but that was the deciding factor. And Sims 4 probably is the best looking, though I only started last year in July. I was not going to even attempt Sims without my favorite lifestate (toddlers) thank you very much.
This was really well done, I played the first two as a kid, but skipped 3 and recently bought 4. After playing 4 a lot and seeing 3, looks like I'll need to buy Sims 3. The emotions weren't worth ditching the customization tools.
Some other interesting trivia: Sims were first mentioned as the citizen of SimCity and first appeared onscreen in the 1996 young audience spin-off SimTown, while Simlish is first heard in SimCopter. Also, Unleashed hugely changed neighborhoods, knitting them together into one big neighbor and turning neighborhoods into effectively separate save files. (I still like the original Sims.)
The Sims 2 was the first and last time I found myself playing primarily with the pre-made Sims. In TS1 they just weren't that interesting. In TS3 they were interesting, but the story progression system made it impossible to be in any way invested given how any household not currently under your control would just fly off in whatever crazy direction and the backstory groundwork would quickly mean nothing. And of course TS4, well, we know what went wrong there. TS2, though, playing pre-mades was like "the game" in TS2. It felt like I was actually playing out a scenario that was setup and I get to decide where it goes. It was always so fun and interesting. easily my all time favorite was Brandi Broke, love her to death, I've sunk so many hours into taking her life into all different interesting directions.
I remember at some point there was talk of something called Simsville?? that would have been a cross between The Sims and Simcity. Pretty sure this was before Sims2 got released but it never materialised. Loved this video, was so nostalgic to look back on the old intro video for The Sims, ahhh memories.
The Sims 1 and 2 will always have a special nostalgic place in my heart but I would have to say the Sims 3 will always be my favourite, even though it was so damn glitchy!
I am 41 years old and I started with the first Sims back then, now the Sims 5 will show up soon... I feel old😂 btw I am still playing Sims 3 and 4 almost every day after work to chill❤️ I am addicted
OMG I'm the same. 41 and a sims addict LOL. Although I have went back to college - mid-life crisis - new direction in career. So during the summer season I have went into full gamer mode with TS4 :)
If they are doing a sims 5 i would much rather wait a while for a good game than them release it while it's still incomplete especially as the sims 4 still feels incomplete after years
i’m an avid believe that sims 3 was the peak of sims. i only play sims 4 atm but honestly i need to go back to sims 3 bc now i have a gaming computer and i have dreamed of playing sims 3 on my own computer for so long.
Can't believe you forgot the Sims 2 for the Nintendo DS. Where you have to run build your Hotel, defeat a Mafia boss, Cult leader and Crazy cleaning robot, fight aliens with your water pistol and fight gangsters as the raticator, the rat Version of Batman. Also you can build aliences with interesting npcs, like a mummy, or the mole king. Oh also Big foot lives in your basement. Idk what the Sims 2 for Nintendo DS was, but it was something, and I had a good time playing it as a kid, lol.
Someone commented that this is a very complete and well written video overview and I agree! However I was disappointed you didn't mention two very important aspects of the games: same sex relationships was possible right from the start making it more inclusive than any other game had been, and cheat codes could be used to skip the grinding! In my option Sims 2 is MORE fun to play with cheat codes because you could modify you sims to focus on story and less on career development/making money. Thank you for doing this video~
I've been playing the Sims since the very first one, so seeing all of the old expansions and such really brought back memories! I got incredibly into Sims 2 for years, only dabbled in Sims 3, but have been going heavier into Sims 4 of late. There are a lot of things I like about Sims 4 but I still think Sims 2 is my favorite. Possibly because I spent so much time on that one and had thousands upon thousands of custom creations that I had downloaded over the years. Either way, I'm a Sims addict.
Cool retrospective. I hummed the various build/buy and neighbourhood tunes in my head for all the versions up until you got to TS4 (even hummed a few from Sim City). I cannot think of a single tune that sticks with me from TS4, yet I just finished playing it before watching your video! Torn between faves: Sims 2 and Sims 3. Thanks!
The sims 4 has been my first game and while I do enjoy it, I agree that the base game is so boring. I got cats and dogs not long after I got the game, and overtime I have just gotten more and more packs. Anyways, great video! I always love the content you put out :)
Yeah I definitely feel like TS4 forces you to buy all the packs (or download CC/mods) in order to have interesting gameplay. The base game is repetitive and boring and the builds are too plain for my taste. When I first discovered the gallery, I was so exited to download all the amazing lots that people had built, but I was pretty disappointed when I realized you had to have all the packs that they had or else the house would be practically empty :/
The details of sims 2 + the open world of sims 3 + the graphic of the sims 4 would be amazing. I feel like all of the games have so much fun lore and I just want the perfect mix if they plan on making a new game
I think the Sims 3 is the best Sims game. I love that: -You have so much freedom to do what you want in the game. No one’s telling you how to play. You don’t need to follow stupid points to keep your sims happy and succesful. -You have an open world. You can go anywhere with your sims, not like the other games where they’re basically locked up at home. Not to mention the town is fully editable with more and bigger lots. -The sims 3 sims actually look like real people and their interactions are also realistic, including romantic ones as opposed to the Sims 4 which are just so robbed of passion. -It has colorwheel, so you’re not forced to settle for any lame patterns.
Started off with Sims is 2002. I was obsessed. Sims 2 saw me their high school and Sims 3 saw me thru my first 5 years of marriage. I was blown away when I no longer had to go to the store to purchase Sims 4. Good times
Thank you so much for making this video, I've been playing since the original sims game, and it was so cool to see all the old packs again and familiar faces!
Best video ive seen focused on the lore behind the franchise. Just in time to the fact the team is being given a lot more freedom and will be adding more stuff to the game as updates that were in previous installments like more lore to other families
Sims Makin Magic was freaking da best!!! It was the first Sims game for me and It made me a huge fan of spooky stuff and I still play Making Magic soundtracks on every Halloween party. My mum bought it for me as a present and I waited SIX hours for it to install. Playing it is actually what made me and my BFF friends. He was kinda a sims expert and since I didn't know what internet search is I was calling his house every 10 min with questions. "Where can I get fairy dust for a kid?", "what's up with the bean stock?", "HOW DO I GET BLACK ROSES??". BTW how come Bonehilda didn't make it to any modern sims game? I freaking loved that skeleton
I've played literally every sims game as they've come out (I'm old) and this brought back so many memories, thank you for all the work you put into compiling all of this, I love your videos where you're taking the piss and just messing around but it's so cool to see this level of content as well
This was a delightful walk through time. I'm probably older than most your viewers. I've played every single sims game ever released. My favorite was sims city 4 until sims 4 came out. I had spent many hundreds of hours playing Sim city 4 and as much as I loved the sims 2 and 3 nothing really hooked me the way sims 4 did. The game play is far more immersive than prior versions.
Sims 2 will always be my favourite game, although that being said I absolutely love Sims 4. I played Sims 3 a few times at my sisters but it honestly never grabbed me. I think there was too much customization to be honest, it took too long to do ANYTHING and the loading times were ridiculous. I love the style of the sims 4 and I don't use mods that change gameplay, only that assist with quality of life stuff (tool mod, better build and buy etc). I'll be happy with the sims 4 for another few years yet!!
Loved this video. It gave me flashbacks to the first time I played sims (sim city and Sims1). It was awesome seeing the transformation from the first Sims 1 generation up to the Sims4 generation. Each sims generation had something I liked so its really hard to say which I liked better. The Sims has definitely come a long way. Did you know that in the Sims 2 and (if I remember right) Sims3 you could make any lot the size lot you wanted and you could use the turain tool do do it? If there is anything I miss from the older packs it is being able to make the lot size you wanted and designe it the way you wanted. One more thing I miss that the earlier sims generations had were the Zodiac sings. I love the Sims franchise and have since the first generation sims game.
As someone who's been playing since sims 1 this is a nice throwback and remembering howmuch money went into me buying all these packs over the years haha, really loved it
The Sims 4 was such a set back. It really is an incomplete game. TS4 literally is Sims 1 and 2 together with a few little add ons. Not to mention the Sims themselves look like generic cartoonish blocky playdough Sims. TS4 is just a money grabber. There are so many of those packs and kits that could be added together. Plus EA took away the lore of the families with TS4, they took away traits, added ridiculous walks, and the emotions are useless and rarely come into play. There's not a lot of people who play TS4 without mods and CC to make it playable. I will forever love The Sims 3. The creative freedom you have with that game makes it replay able. The Sims 3 have more traits which add to their personalities and how they interact with other Sims and they have Zodiac signs which play a big roll as well. Yes there's CC and mods for TS3 to help enhance gameplay, but, unlike TS4 where CC and mods are needed to make the game fun, the CC and mods for TS3 are there to enhance, but, are not needed. Plus, in the TS3, you can cause drama, where as in TS4, you can't. If a Sim cheats in TS4, they don't care, but, in TS3, if a Sims cheats, they pay the price. The Sims 3 is just the better of the all Sims games. I started with TS1 and loved it. Played TS2 for hours and hours and loved it and still do (the cut scenes and some interactions are just extra, but, fun). The Sims 3 will forever be my love. I've tried TS4, but, get bored so easily. With TS3, I can create storylines for my families and play it for hours and not get bored. Out of all the Expansions for the Sims 3, Supernatural is my favorite. Moonlight Falls is my favorite world. 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
as a person who turned 14 three days ago, i’ve played all the sims games, i’ve got 2800+ hours on sims 4, about 30 hours on sims 3 and like 5 hours on the sims 2. i’ve played sims 1 but i basically just made a sim, made a house and played like one sim day. i would say sims 3’s open world and colour wheel, sims 2’s memory system, personality system and relationship system, and sims 4’s build/buy mode and create a sim (except the personality system) would make a great game
Great video!! One of the best Sims timeline videos i’ve seen! The only sidenote i would add is that the Sims Store website already existed back in sims 2. Good times 🥺
Omg what a trip down memory lane! I was 11 when sims 1 came out and so was obviously obsessed. Even by sims 2 I was still playing and buying every expansion pack going haha then adult life came along and it became a game from my childhood until recently. I came back again to sims 4 a couple of years ago and also discovered mods and cc for the first time and my god how that has changed everything! I’m now back to being obsessed with a more adult version of the game! Great video
This video brought home the fact that I’m getting old. The only Sims I haven’t done was Sim City and a few of the very early games. Been playing since Sims 1 though. I wish I could have bought the online versions at that time but I couldn’t. I do miss the World Adventures Pack. I loved the travel and the exploration. ❤
My favorite packs ever are all from the sims 3 (i know the names are off but u get what im saying lol): island paradise, the magic one, and university. Although buggy, the freaking hotel feature was my favorite!!! werewolves and fairies were also just so fun to play with :) lastly, the university from sims 3 would occupy me for hours. i loved the community aspect of that one and it was so easy to make new friends
This just popped up on my home page and wow what a trip down memory lane. Sims, Zoo Tycoon, and Roller-coaster tycoon were the first games I really got into and they all came out around a year after each other. Interestingly only the Sims is still a franchise.
Sims 2 will forever be my favorite. I don't know if that's because it was the first sims game I played or because it's just plane and simply the best... my dream game would be a mix between sims 2 + better graphics and to adapt the old animatios like sims 4. I also want to tell you that your voice it's both soothing and hilarious to me depending the way you say things and I just love your vids for that. The minute I saw your fist video I subscribe, your voice also reminds me of Rebecca the character from The Originals, maybe its like a accent thing. Idk. But I love it hahah (i'm weird i know) Love from Argentina🇦🇷❤
The sims 2 was so good, definitely with you on that! Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure who that character is but ill assume they have a great voice 😉
Great video! Just watched your previous one with Bella Goth, and was suggested this one. My personal favorite is the sims 2 and sims bustin out, played them so much during my childhood! Not really sure with the sims 4 though… seems like they just keep releasing packs and exstras instead of releasing a new game…
The Sims 3 is my favorite. It would be nice if they could make The Sims 4 more like it. I loved how u could create ur own style or color of anything in the game.
While it seems that we got more content in Sims 4 in form of expansion and other packs, it should be kept in mind that a lot of single features got released in separate packs which were in earlier generations put together. Just one of the very few examples are the hot tubs which weren't included in the base game nor in one of the expansion packs but you had to buy an accessory pack. Or the "Laundry Day" Accessory Pack which was previously included in TS3 Generations or the "My first pet" that is a separate pack, too instead of being part of the "Pets" expansion pack.
that brings nostalgia. i remembered spending days and nights playing sims 1 before all the EPs with my main family, The Arquettes, and tried hard from rag to riches. The first Sim game I played was Sim Town. To see the progress The Sims now have in Sims 4...awesome experience indeed..
Well done! This was both nostalgic and informative. It was so interesting to see those 1st gen graphics again and recall those days back when The Sims initially came out. I had every single expansion pack and was a cc and mod junkie back then as well. I never played The Sims 2 or 3(I was still commited to the original until my laptop crapped out on me and I lost years of game play), but did get into The Sims Freeplay and Mobile for a bit. I ultimately left those by the wayside because particularly with The Sims Moblle, it was far too easy to spend money in game(it started to feel like a cash grab). I started playing The Sims 4 earlier this year while on furlough and I'm so glad I finally stepped into the present. The Sims 4 modding community is next level. EA definitely has their work cut out for them with The Sims 5. I hope they've been taking notes(they need to start offering some of our fave modders consulting jobs too).
24:00 This brought back long lost memories, I forgot this game even existed.. I remember getting stuck pretty early on cause I didn't know where I was supposed to go.
i’ve only ever played the sims 4, but all these previous games just look so much more interesting and immersive
Yeah I personally prefer the older games, the sims 2 is the best one I think!
I agree. Sims 2 was the best, sims 3 was a nightmare that would just make your computer crash and overheat and sims 4 just doesnt have enough fun things to do unless you pay 100s of dollars.
@@FreedArt yeah the sims 2 did have alot of crashing issues but I now have a computer that can handle it and the sims 3 is honestly really fun
I love all of them but sims 2 is my favorite! It's also relatively easy to get online since it's technically abandonware c:
I like the sims 3 better but don't like the camera
Sims 2 was such an adult game, Sims 3 was not that chidish either but afterwards... They basically made the game for much more younger audience. Sims 4 is unplayable without mods, at least for me. I hope they don't continue to this "childish" gameplay type in their further Sims titles.
The games have definitely got easier over time I think, The sims 4 was way too easy when it was first released!
YES
Sims 2 and 3 are my jam (I’m 32) and sims 4 is my daughters jam (She’s 12) lol. So I agree with this. I’ve been a Sims player since the very beginning and Sims 4 is my least favorite, I never play it.
@@Keriberryxo Same, if there wasn't any mods I wouldn't touch it
yep I agree with this. sims 2 was probably my most played of the sims series. Sims 3 has more stuff you can do, so naturally it is better, but the child like play in sims 4 is alright... but yea, I like the older ones due to this factor.
The Sims game taught my son to read because it associated written words to specific objects and actions. @@Lucky_Tucky that is such an adorable story!

Do you play sims2 on pc?
If you have account on steam you can still buy the Sims 3 and all the packs!
@Tatum McKenzie or just go on G2A get that shit for cheap😭
Sameee, I remember preordering sims 4 and practically buzzing when it finally arrived. Plugged in my lil plumbob emotion light that came with the preorder and then... Was bored. Was completely underwhelmed.

The jump from The Sims to The Sims 2 was amazing. I'm feeling so much nostalgia. I started with The Sims and The Sims 4 seems like it would have come after The Sims, gameplay wise.
YES OMG
Yeah while the graphics were better and the world's, the personality wasn't there. The sims 2 personality with the sims 3 worlds and graphics would be the best. Maybe with a hint of the scary from sims 1. Making Magic was the best magic expansion of them all. It wasn't all in your face, it was actually mysterious and you had to figure it out. I really hate they stopped the memories aspect out of everything probably
There is actual lore and timeline where each game took place.
I want to know why they reduced traits to just 3. i loved sims 3's 5 trait option. Definitely made them more unique.
traits barely do anything anyways
It was really fun having so many traits to choose from - that and the cutscenes from Sims 2 would be nice to see again
@@sg-qi7np yup. Don't think I've ever seen one of my neat sims clean anything up on their own

aaahhh the Sims ... you either play for three weeks day and night, forgetting your real family and friends, not eating or sleeping, or you don't play for months. No in-between. ❤️
Looks like I found a way to do it then: usually I play Sims on the weekend only because once I start I find it difficult to stop, even if it ends up with me staying up past 2am😅
This is probably the most thorough history of the Sims franchise that I've ever watched! Thank you!
Same
And it was very relaxing
Sims 3 had it all!! Best game packs, best interactions, interesting sims, colour wheel, open world... Sims 4 isn't even half of that tbh. I only play the Sims 4 because the modders and cc creators are super talented and do give us good gameplay.
The sims 3 was so good that base game was enough, definitely offered more than the sims 4. I just wished they looked a bit nicer!
That game destroyed like two laptops I owned.
It was fun but so ugly
I also prefer Sims 3 BUT the performance of the game is so bad....doesn't matter how good your computer is, the game will have lag :/
Me and my sister used to look at the box all the time in the supermarket! we were so obsessed
@@AlexReess same!
Once I have more space I will probably purchase the orignal just to sit on the shelf LOL. Collectors item.
@@vc6218 you mean the sims 1???
The Sims 2 is still amazing. So many good memories of playing it as a child!
I grew up playing the sims 3 and when you showed the favorites lost memories came back. I completely forgot that part existed
@@el0ise894 I also have a bunch of amazing cc that you can find for it
i feel so bad for those who only ever played TS4. I freaking love Onlyabidong!! His vids are awesome. I love watching videos like this. While I already know all this information or have seen others make videos similar to it, somehow you made it more interesting lol thank you.
onlyabidoang is one of my favorite youtubers!! glad to see other enjoyers of him in the wild
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
I went through all the phases of the sims!
This was an enlightening video.
hi what kind of mods do you reccomend?
I love it.
We need sims 1 buy&build, sims 2 storyline’s, sims 3 packs &colourwheel, and sims 4 visuals &buy/build mode! Sounds like the perfect sims to me😍
The Sims (1) was my first computer game.
Thank you 💐😊
Aw, burnout sucks but treat yourself, you deserve it!💚
Thank you for sharing this, I'm glad I can be of some use to help you unwind! Also, as a brit myself, cheers for all you do for the NHS!
Hello, how are you? Are you still burnt out? I hope you prioritize your health over the health of others. :( ❤️
Saying *"blow shit up"* in a sweet posh British accent made my year.
Sims 2 is my favourite too, but I do prefer the look of the sims 4, if they made the sims 2 with sims 4 graphics it would fly off the shelves i think!
See i dislike 4 the most. I loved the maps and free colour changing in 3
@@elly0443 Nothing wrong with that. A lot of people love The Sims 3.
I love both Sims 2 and 3 but 3 is a more complete game imo
I'm very thankful for the ability to enjoy the Sims over all the years..It got me through alot..
I can tell that this took a lot of time and research. Great quality!!!!
Thanks! it did take a little while so I'm glad you like it!
Urbz was one of my faves from this list. It was a whole new dimension to Sims at the time. Fantastic game 😊
Such a great overview and timeline, it’s amazing to see how it’s grown and developed over the years! Very well done
Thank you!
The Sims Making Magic is still one of my favorite expansions. It puts the sims 4 version to shame. Even 20 years later.
This was really well done, I played the first two as a kid, but skipped 3 and recently bought 4. After playing 4 a lot and seeing 3, looks like I'll need to buy Sims 3. The emotions weren't worth ditching the customization tools.
that game would crash a lot though, which is why I stopped playing it... Also the sims in sims 3 were extremely ugly lol
The sims bust n' out was too my very first sims game, it was a lot fun to play hahaha and my mom took my game when she saw me using the woohoo bed.
my greatest accomplishment as a child was finally getting into the haunted house in bustin out
The Sims 1 and 2 will always have a special nostalgic place in my heart but I would have to say the Sims 3 will always be my favourite, even though it was so damn glitchy!
This is THE BEST history video I’ve seen !
Love your personality and the way you explained everything

I just wanna know if X Media got the legal retribution they deserved 😂
In Sims1, there was technically a win: you survive to retire. From there, you can end the game or keep on playing.
Will Wright is the GOAT!
How could we have have a Sims 5 if Sim 4 doesn't even feel full? :(
My thoughts exactly
If they are doing a sims 5 i would much rather wait a while for a good game than them release it while it's still incomplete especially as the sims 4 still feels incomplete after years

Either way, I'm a Sims addict.
this is my favorite video of yours. i always find myself coming back.
Thanks!
Oh my gosh the memories, especially the making magic expansion, I can't tell you how many hours upon hours I spent playing that.
I love that:
-You have so much freedom to do what you want in the game.
Good times
The sims 3 was the first one I played. I have such a soft spot in my heart for it... idk the sims 4 doesn't compare
I entered the sims world by playing the sims on my moms Nokia in 2009/10. In 2011 I started playing sims 3 on our family computer, it was so exciting.
I remember starting with the Sims 2 when I was 8 years old! 😌 ahhh the good memories
Thank you so much for making this video, I've been playing since the original sims game, and it was so cool to see all the old packs again and familiar faces!
Holy nostalgia…. I don’t think you covered the sims games released for Gameboy and the DS though! I freakin LOVED those growing up
Best video ive seen focused on the lore behind the franchise. Just in time to the fact the team is being given a lot more freedom and will be adding more stuff to the game as updates that were in previous installments like more lore to other families
I want Sims 4 to add Werewolves and Genies as well as Into the Future stuff before Sims 5.
I really thought that fairies would be in the sims 4 already, I wouldn't be surprised if we never see these occult sims in the sims 4 now!

My nan gave me the sims original game- because I’ve been playing sims 3-4 it was different put still pretty cool to see how it was like!💗
I've played literally every sims game as they've come out (I'm old) and this brought back so many memories, thank you for all the work you put into compiling all of this, I love your videos where you're taking the piss and just messing around but it's so cool to see this level of content as well
So much nostalgia! The Sims makes me so happy
The sims will never get old to me. I’ve been playing since 2003. The sims 3 was the best in my opinion but I’ll forever be a die hard summer lol
I must say this video is well put together! Thank you I much appreciate your content!
Thank you!
14:08 the Sims Bustin out intro unlocked a core memory that game was the start of my sims obsession
As someone who's been playing since sims 1 this is a nice throwback and remembering howmuch money went into me buying all these packs over the years haha, really loved it
I remember the whole zodiac thing, they need to bring it back.
I've been playing since ts2 and seeing old game play footage it sends me way back to being like 11 or 12 play multiplayer with my cousin
Moonlight Falls is my favorite world.

as a person who turned 14 three days ago, i’ve played all the sims games, i’ve got 2800+ hours on sims 4, about 30 hours on sims 3 and like 5 hours on the sims 2. i’ve played sims 1 but i basically just made a sim, made a house and played like one sim day. i would say sims 3’s open world and colour wheel, sims 2’s memory system, personality system and relationship system, and sims 4’s build/buy mode and create a sim (except the personality system) would make a great game
Great video
The sims 2 console forever gonna be my fav
Aw, I used to love sims 2 on console back in the day!
On GameCube?
It’s crazy to see how nicely marketed the original sims were in the store. I would get so excited for the expansion packs
We are reliving my childhood in this video, the sims, the black eyed peas, katy perry, nintendo wii.. woah flashback alert 🚨
Haha I went through the same thing while making it!

This is the best summary of the sims franchise I’ve seen yet! For anyone new to the sims, I will totally refer them to this video!
You missed The Urbz, Sims in The City! That’s okay though, barely anyone knows it exists. It was suuuch a good game though.
She did mention it!
she literally talked abt it
that sounded rude didn't mean it like that😅
Love Urbz so much ❤️❤️
she covered it.
So nostalgic to hear all these features in Sims 2... Miss them so much
The Sims 3 is my favorite.
Sims Bustin Out was also the first sims game I played! 😊
Thank you very much for spending the time to do this! I've only started playing Sims in Sims4! You did a wonderful job on this!
i don’t know why but this really made me cry with nostalgia
The most influential game of my life. Started with original The Sims, and made movies on Sims 3. Sims will always have a special place in my heart.
who remembers sims 2 angsty love stories on youtube in like 2007
and the music videos omg
6:48 I was thinking about that exact same line when you started playing it, so good job on reading my mind I guess
Lol I remember playing the original SimCity ❤️
that brings nostalgia. i remembered spending days and nights playing sims 1 before all the EPs with my main family, The Arquettes, and tried hard from rag to riches. The first Sim game I played was Sim Town. To see the progress The Sims now have in Sims 4...awesome experience indeed..
The sims 4 is disrespectful af to sims fans the only good thing I have to say about it is that it's less buggy
I hope they've been taking notes(they need to start offering some of our fave modders consulting jobs too).
i miss the sims 3 :( i got to choose between sims 4 or sims 3 and i choosed sims 4
sims bustin out was the first sims game i played as well, i had a blast!
