Patricia Stringer she means that Jake being kidnapped was one of the many things Sam did to make sure Jason and Liz wouldnt be together. Liz did exactly what Sam did. The difference is Liz had a conscience and told the truth almost right away while Sam kept the secret of Jake's kidnapping for weeks and didn't care about who she hurt in the process.

I also, believe if Steve wasn’t leaving the show at the time that Liz wouldn’t have told the truth right then about Sam’ and Jason’s baby Danny.
