Bhai I'm a master's student in IIT Bombay and agree with you. I have seen many PhD students here and 90% of them are doing just the sake of doing. I will also suggest if you can go to any foreign University for PhD than always prefer that over any IIT.

I won’t agree on going to any foreign university, it should be at least top 300, otherwise it’s going to be very hard to get a good post doc.

I would suggest to do PhD in a research institute over IITs or central universities, if you are doing it in India. I have seen, in iits or universities in India, there are no good criteria of research for professors selection. As someone doing my phd from tifr, I have a very happy phd life, with great connections with guide and coguides. If you want to do a phd do it from good ranking places, with good track record or the guide. That’s all.

Yes MS is also fine, it's a master's degree equivalent to M-Tech

Hello sir .sir I want to ask about iit Delhi energy science technology and management branch placement wise how is this branch . What is the median package of this branch in iit Delhi also sir is this possible that I can study vlsi subject separately will vlsi company allow this branch students sit in placement

It's a little tough for a VlSi company to allow students from this branch until you specially fight for it in the placement cell.
Median package would be around 10 lakh

Sir I want to do Mtech in Civil engineering. Should I take admission in any private college or self sponsored Mtech in IIT Mandi. It's fees is 54 K per semester. Is doing Mtech really worth. Do I really get job of Professor after MTech? Should I go for Mtech or try for industrial jobs directly after Btech?

Yes fairly.. assistant professors who have latest education profile are new ones, you get better idea as you can scan through the website of department as well Akash!

Only mad people do phd. Mad people who are mad for research. They are well deserving for high paying salary but for their love for knowledge and research, they do phd.
I have lot of respect for people who do research for their passion and ambition.
