Demian is a strange book by Hermann Hesse, a Swiss author. It's super popular in Korea and even BTS have been heavily influenced by it in their album Wings. The strangeness and duality of the Dreamcatcher song, the anger against the world and parents and the nihilism in Dami's scream-rap ("Everyhing's void. Close your eeeeeyes!") reflects this feeling. The protagonist's best friend, Max Demian is a very ambigious character, very intelligent, without a clearly defined gender identity, with a lot of anger inside, and without a clear boundry between the concepts of good and evil, but a personal moral code instead. This whole concept was converted into music in Dreamcatcher's Demian, which explains the strangeness in the notes and the constant feeling that something isn't right. This music covays all these conflicting feelings of the protagonist Emil Sinclair, who grows up in a dangerous world, as the young boy watches the borgois society around him collapse in the chaos of the early 20th Century. This also translates well to our modern age today and also probably hints how Dami relates to Max Demian as a person.
Yup, Leez contract ended last Sep 22. He then signed on with a new company Hi-Hat, to help produce for a new group. Considering this is a first "official" EP released by the new team, I'd say it's a pretty resounding success. Again, HFE probably wouldn't bring in people who weren't invested in their sound to begin with so...kudos.

From what the fandom said, I think Bon Voyage didn't quite blew us away on the first listen, but after listening to it again and again it just kept getting better and I feel everybody loves it now, I wonder if there's a reason why that happens Also love those quirky things in both Demian and Propose, that Dami scream was absolutely glorious!!
This album is old DC's sound performed by an experienced DC that can handle it. You hand this album to rookie DC and it destroys them, there's too many emotions, too much texture, too many challenges for 99% of rookie groups to handle but you give this album to an experienced, mature group and they can do wonderful things with it.
Demian: when in doubt about the tonic, assume the melody is hanging out on the 2. This works like 75% of the time in pop music over the last five years or so. Propose: I was waiting for Dami's verse, knew that would get a good reaction.
The more you listen to Bonvoyage, the more it makes sense. Not a bad track on this album, their best in years and certainly the best of the Apocalypse trilogy.
I love seeing Musicians confused by Demian. as non-musician, I love it. that sets them apart from other groups. and how smooth it is.. i think now people recognize Dreamcatcher as they use different choice in mixing the whatever term that musicians use. because I love them because of that particular part. they're just different and they succeed in that.
Surprisingly, I really love To. You way more than the others. Usually I prefer their stronger b-sides but To. You gives me that early to late 00s vibes. I don't know how to describe it but it's like listening to a road trip song during my childhood. I guess it gives me that nostalgia feelings.

The "final chorus" in Bon Voyage I feel like is actually more similar to the intro rather than the other choruses. These two have more similar motifs there than the outro with the choruses
I find Demian sooo interesting, it's my favorite b-side from this EP, chorus caught me totally of guard and gave me extreme isekai/fantasy anime vibes and they're on their way to kill a dungeon big boss or something like that. Ps: Also, to me that the guitar 🎸 at the beginning of Demian also reminds me of the guitar on JoJo's "to be continued" song

Ngl, I know people are tired of hearing this, but as someone who grew up with a shit ton of anime openings and vocaloid, this album is probably my favorite so far. I dont know, if anything it gave me "ahhh, this feels familiar" kind of vibes.

I love this album, after i first listened to it i was left with an intense sense of nostalgia. First i thought it was because J-Rock / Anime intro Dreamcatcher was back, but after listening to it multiple times i found out it's because there are little Minx instrumental easter eggs in nearly all the tracks. The guitar solo in the intro sounds like it's playing Minx - Shut Up. The intro to Demian sounds like it's a slowed down, pitched down version of the intro to Minx - Why Did You Come To My House. The intro to Propose sounds like a slowed down pitched down version of the intro to Minx - Love Shake. The synth line and guitar solo in To. You sounds like vocal elements from Minx - Like You. ❤

I think what makes BON VOYAGE a very emotional song for me is probably the message of the song. Sure, if we connected it to the trilogy, it would be a song for mother nature... But, if we took it out from the whole trilogy, we get an actual farewell song. We all know Dreamcatcher renew their contract, but BON VOYAGE could actually be their last song if they didn't renew their contract. The producer team could've made this song as their farewell songs to the fandom. Hence, the very different title in the trilogy itself. Everyone thought the title would be ILLUSION or PASSION. So, this song is just made to be emotional to be a farewell song, a genuine farewell song. Which I'm glad it's not BEcause I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be sad for a whole year if it's true.
@@marydizzycat no. I felt like BON VOYAGE might have been planned as their last song in a way since they do need to end the apocalypse trilogy somehow. Planning for a comeback could take months and even possibly years. So, if they all decided not to renew their contract, they would have probably ended their journey as Dreamcatcher with BON VOYAGE, but since all of them renew, that didn't happen. REASON is just a fan song, and that could have been made for fans and also to celebrate their renewal in a way.

They said "I love you" which is a fairly rare line in their lyrics (especially when it's sincere, rather than obsessive like it is in BEcause) and there's "So I try to leave as if it's our last... tell me bon voyage" which is in the chorus. Bon voyage itself is a phrase said to wish someone well on their journey.
BonVoyage hit me the first time i listened to it. tho it stepped out with the sound that Maison and Vision took. i still liked it, it feels like a warm hug as an ending and it’s the first time that we have atleast a bittersweet ending unlike the first ones.
Propose remains my favorite song off this EP. It's absolutely ridiculous how GOOD it is. It gave me faith in the new team after Bon Voyage didn't quite grab me at first. Dami's guttural growl when she does the Chorus? Absolutely glorious.

For me, the transitions from the quiet parts of the BONVOYAGE to the chorus are like waves of surging emotions. You can kind of get over the breakup sometimes, but the chorus is the moment when you get torn up again.

I heard it for the first time and literally thought, "I need ReacttotheK to listen to this so I can understand why I feel like I'm going crazy because of this song" HAHAHA. Thank you for also experiencing this song and wondering what dimension you had entered. Bon Voyage is my favorite track from this trilogy by far, both in terms of the song and MV. I am so happy with this resolution, it got me pumped for what their next release might be. It has the feel of their older fansongs while still bringing something fresh to the sound. So excited for the next CB! And Bon Voyage is still on repeat, weeks later!

I think the melody you noticed at 13:20 is the same as in Dreamcatcher - New Days! I dont recall anyone else noticing it like I did and im not 100% sure but EXACTLY the part you hummed is the same as in the chorus of it. It may very well just be coincidence to be fair.

Why do people say the sound of the instruments in the intro and ending of "To You" is so weird? As for me, it's quite familiar when I hear it. I don't know what instrument was used to produce that sound, but the sound of that instrument was present in a Chinese ballad song from the 80s-90s to early 2000; the year in which Chinese Drama was worldwide.

I've been following your content for years now and being patient for the inevitable Dreamcatcher reaction is always worth it. LEEZ is with Hi-Hat Entertainment now as its Music Director, so I expect ATEEZ will also be affected by the change, so what we have is what I think a return to older Dreamcatcher but with modern elements. BONVOYAGE is described by the group as a progressive rock song, so that may explains the pace changes and different energy at parts. DEMIAN is a fun and interesting experiment, Propose is a relentless B-side that has the style consistency that BONVOYAGE didn't have and even To. You, for a ballad, has a distinctly rock element. It's a solid album, and I'm super interested where DC goes with Ollounder now heading the crew. Thanks again for your work and insight!

The whole album is pure FIRE! 🔥🔥 "Bon Voyage" is the 3rd and final part of the Apocalypse trilogy, which is about the destruction of the environment by humanity. The members have mentioned that it is about giving nature a break. Any encounter between human beings always has separation attached to it as well, just as death is a part of life. SuA also said that the fluffy floating thing that Dami summons from her painting is a cell. It has been named "Celly" and is adorable, right? My dark mind believes that they are saying "Have a good trip" to humanity, since we are well on our way of wiping ourselves out. It's like a breakup between humanity and the earth. Once humanity is gone, nature gets the break it needs and the circle will begin again. For me, the key to understanding the lyrics is that they are singing as human beings, not as a single person. And they are singing to nature, confessing their love and the realization that we are not good for nature and that it probably resents us. It could also be the other way round (them singing as mother nature to humanity). SuA jumping out after the dove seem to represent their desire for peace. There are still many things I don't know. For example, why are all three titles in French. 😉 (And why are there 3 Damis with 7 shadows...) The story of the MV seems to be that the rest of humanity has sheltered away under force fields after the apocalypse. This gives nature time to heal. Musically I can already say this is one of their best songs for me. The chorus slaps hard, and the variations between heavy and slow are just beautiful. It has emotion and impact at the same time. Putting JiU's sweet voice together with an acoustic guitar is simply genius. We lost Leez as a producer, but the team around Ollounder did a fantastic job! I probably won't have to tell anyone that the visuals here are out of this world. I'm going to say it anyways: The members have never looked more beautiful, and the whole team all deserve a raise!
Describing Demian's chorus as having heart palpitations is one of the best description's I've heard of it. And that "dissonant" idea, it's so true, the beginning hits so /hard/ but it always feels just slightly off...

This song is played in happy notes, but it's contains sad facts. Like from the beginning of their discography, they Are introduced as witches, and they were died in the ODD EYE era. Cuz they were unable to escape the dystopia... 💀 Then, in the apocalypse Era, They come from the Heaven (that's why the Maison Bridge is turning on the grand pianorr) bringing a task to help earth to get better. That's why there is a LOT of PORTALS. So they can go back and forth to Heaven and Earth... I love this album, after i first listened to it i was left with an intense sense of nostalgia. First i thought it was because J-Rock / Anime intro Dreamcatcher was back, but after listening to it multiple times i found out it's because there are little Minx instrumental easter eggs in nearly all the tracks.
The guitar solo in the intro sounds like it's playing Minx - Shut Up. The intro to Demian sounds like it's a slowed down, pitched down version of the intro to Minx - Why Did You Come To My House. The intro to Propose sounds like a slowed down pitched down version of the intro to Minx - Love Shake. The synth line and guitar solo in To. You sounds like vocal elements from Minx - Like You. ❤

I think what makes BON VOYAGE a very emotional song for me is probably the message of the song. Sure, if we connected it to the trilogy, it would be a song for mother nature... But, if we took it out from the whole trilogy, we get an actual farewell song. We all know Dreamcatcher renew their contract, but BON VOYAGE could actually be their last song if they didn't renew their contract. The producer team could've made this song as their farewell songs to the fandom. Hence, the very different title in the trilogy itself. Everyone thought the title would be ILLUSION or PASSION. So, this song is just made to be emotional to be a farewell song, a genuine farewell song. Which I'm glad it's not BEcause I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be sad for a whole year if it's true.

@@marydizzycat no. I felt like BON VOYAGE might have been planned as their last song in a way since they do need to end the apocalypse trilogy somehow. Planning for a comeback could take months and even possibly years. So, if they all decided not to renew their contract, they would have probably ended their journey as Dreamcatcher with BON VOYAGE, but since all of them renew, that didn't happen. REASON is just a fan song, and that could have been made for fans and also to celebrate their renewal in a way.

Bonvoyage definitely seems like a farewell if you look at the lyrics closely. They said "I love you" which is a fairly rare line in their lyrics (especially when it's sincere, rather than obsessive like it is in BEcause) and there's "So I try to leave as if it's our last... tell me bon voyage" which is in the chorus. Bon voyage itself is a phrase said to wish someone well on their journey.

BonVoyage hit me the first time i listened to it. tho it stepped out with the sound that Maison and Vision took. i still liked it, it feels like a warm hug as an ending and it’s the first time that we have atleast a bittersweet ending unlike the first ones.

Propose remains my favorite song off this EP. It's absolutely ridiculous how GOOD it is. It gave me faith in the new team after Bon Voyage didn't quite grab me at first.

their winning title tracks, Maison and Bon Voyage are (in my opinion) their worst title tracks. yeah they grow on you, but they are more along the lines of the "boring song" most cds come with

Totally agree. With everything. Born voyage didn’t grab me at first either, but Propose just GOT ME. I turn it up whenever it comes on. There’s just something about it. It’s my fave song from this album.

For me, the transitions from the quiet parts of the BONVOYAGE to the chorus are like waves of surging emotions. You can kind of get over the breakup sometimes, but the chorus is the moment when you get torn up again.

Bon Voyage is my favorite track from this trilogy by far, both in terms of the song and MV. I am so happy with this resolution, it got me pumped for what their next release might be. It has the feel of their older fansongs while still bringing something fresh to the sound. So excited for the next CB! And Bon Voyage is still on repeat, weeks later!

I've been waiting for this reaction since the album dropped, such a surprisingly complex but somehow familiar album.
I think the melody you noticed at 13:20 is the same as in Dreamcatcher - New Days! I dont recall anyone else noticing it like I did and im not 100% sure but EXACTLY the part you hummed is the same as in the chorus of it. It may very well just be coincidence to be fair.

Why do people say the sound of the instruments in the intro and ending of "To You" is so weird? As for me, it's quite familiar when I hear it. I don't know what instrument was used to produce that sound, but the sound of that instrument was present in a Chinese ballad song from the 80s-90s to early 2000; the year in which Chinese Drama was worldwide.

I've been following your content for years now and being patient for the inevitable Dreamcatcher reaction is always worth it.
LEEZ is with Hi-Hat Entertainment now as its Music Director, so I expect ATEEZ will also be affected by the change, so what we have is what I think a return to older Dreamcatcher but with modern elements. BONVOYAGE is described by the group as a progressive rock song, so that may explains the pace changes and different energy at parts. DEMIAN is a fun and interesting experiment, Propose is a relentless B-side that has the style consistency that BONVOYAGE didn't have and even To. You, for a ballad, has a distinctly rock element. It's a solid album, and I'm super interested where DC goes with Ollounder now heading the crew.

"Bon Voyage" is the 3rd and final part of the Apocalypse trilogy, which is about the destruction of the environment by humanity. The members have mentioned that it is about giving nature a break. Any encounter between human beings always has separation attached to it as well, just as death is a part of life. SuA also said that the fluffy floating thing that Dami summons from her painting is a cell. It has been named "Celly" and is adorable, right?
My dark mind believes that they are saying "Have a good trip" to humanity, since we are well on our way of wiping ourselves out. It's like a breakup between humanity and the earth. Once humanity is gone, nature gets the break it needs and the circle will begin again. For me, the key to understanding the lyrics is that they are singing as human beings, not as a single person. And they are singing to nature, confessing their love and the realization that we are not good for nature and that it probably resents us. It could also be the other way round (them singing as mother nature to humanity).
SuA jumping out after the dove seem to represent their desire for peace.
There are still many things I don't know. For example, why are all three titles in French. 😉 (And why are there 3 Damis with 7 shadows...)
The story of the MV seems to be that the rest of humanity has sheltered away under force fields after the apocalypse. This gives nature time to heal.
Musically I can already say this is one of their best songs for me. The chorus slaps hard, and the variations between heavy and slow are just beautiful. It has emotion and impact at the same time. Putting JiU's sweet voice together with an acoustic guitar is simply genius. We lost Leez as a producer, but the team around Ollounder did a fantastic job!
I probably won't have to tell anyone that the visuals here are out of this world. I'm going to say it anyways: The members have never looked more beautiful, and the whole team all deserve a raise!

Describing Demian's chorus as having heart palpitations is one of the best description's I've heard of it. And that "dissonant" idea, it's so true, the beginning hits so /hard/ but it always feels just slightly off...
Demian almost has a djent/progressive rock vibe, which is so interesting even if it's not to everyone's taste.
