When people say Dreamcatcher is K-rock group, we just laugh. To me, DC is actually one of the few most versatile groups in Korea. They give you literally every genre and they give you good. No misses, no stumbles. This album is proof of that. I'm not saying just because I'm a stan. Listen to it with musical facts n tell me they are bad songs. It's either you got your facts wrong or you are just lying to your own face. Imma stop typing. Enjoy part 2... 😂

I'm talking literal months of video content - from choreo videos and covers to solo songs, performances, variety appearances, their vlogs, fan content, relay dances.. and in all of those, their personality and dedication shines through. It's a joy to watch.

Btw, for Siyeon's solo song "Paradise" at the end of the album, the MV does have subs and there is also a bonus piano version special clip too that I highly recommend, if you're interested, you can either watch it after the MV or in another reaction like when you watch the special clips for the other songs of the album. Oh and for the Sahara self made MV there are subs and when you do react to it you should watch it with the subs on as they add context to what they're doing, but in a way it's a good thing you watched a lyrics video first because the MV is so distracting that it's impossible to fully focus on the lyrics like you did there on a first listen :)

Handong is the Ice Princess from Wuhan, China. They all have covers of various songs, and Siyeon wrote her song Paradise (that's on the end of Tree of Language, actually). Siyeon also has a stunning cover of Speechless from the live action Aladdin movie, even Disney saw it and commented on it. On the Apocalypse Save Us album, each girl wrote and sang their own solo song as well, and I remember that Dami also has a special clip of a song she wrote a few years ago. They also have cover duets (I know JiU and SuA did a cover of something but I don't remember what it was). Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and SuA also did a cover of Really Really by Winner. Actually, there are groups of InSomnia who works to put Subtitles in Dreamcatcher's MV, but since TH-cam retracted their policy for other people to fill the subtitles except the content creator or the channel owner, many songs of Dreamcatcher got no subs for lyrics in it. you can find it in the older MV later on the names of the people who submit the subs to DCC

7 years as DC, no 2 songs sound the same, and the ability to connect with your emotions through their music, not just tickle your ears ... that's legendary talent right there. They easily nailed 6-7 genres in this album alone.

There you go. 4 different songs, 4 different genres and 4 different and distinct feels to those songs. And it's only half the album. Now tell me, when was the last time you heard an album, from a single artist, that was this diverse and, at the same time, amazing? You mentioned that you listen more Korean music than western music now. I'm the same way. The best analogy I have for the differences between western music vs Korean music, especially when it comes to pop music, is the difference between a carousel and a roller coaster. On a carousel you basically go round and round, there may be some ups and you end up where you started, it really doesn't go anywhere. In general you may enjoy the ride but it's not very exciting. There isn't much impact. On a roller coaster the ups and downs are more dramatic. They hit you with more twists and turns. They'll change things up and flip you upside down. Sure, like a carousel, in the end you end up in the same place, but it feels a lot more like you took a journey to get there. It's a lot more exciting. Okay, before anyone comes at me, I'm not trying to crap all over the western music industry. I am aware that there are a lot of standout performers and they put out a lot of good music. I am talking in general terms here. I'm talking majorities here. The majority of western music is simply not as creative and as well put together as the majority of Korean music. The bulk of the western music I've hears lately just seems lackluster and uncreative. Every now and then I hear a new song and I'm like "oooh, that's goood", but most of the time it's just seems meh and disposable. There's a reason why Kpop is becoming a global phenomenon. Obligatory internet disclaimer because some people just like to argue: This is my OPINION. You may have a different opinion. That's fine. But I would like to add the "Dreamcatcher(드림캐쳐) 1st Album [Dystopia : The Tree of Language] Story Spoiler". It's a really beautiful video which uses the Intro and gives some info on the lore for the Dystopia trilogy.
I really like your reactions, cute and fun to watch. I think we all have the same reaction when listened to their B-side songs, all so good. If you love Jazz Bar, you might check this clip out th-cam.com/video/El51Srq208A/w-d-xo.html , it’s the radio live version, sounds so good and their personalities are adorable with some playfulness. When you said they aren’t fight, they just make good album, it reminds me of the song “Reason” , the 6th anniversary song, have one line that Dami sang “we don’t fight….” . And Reason is one of my favorite songs (which might be more than 10 songs😂) of them. If you like “Tension” and “Sahara” , i recommend to watch Primavera Sound 2022 Concert, an outdoor concert. The girls start from tens of fans to thousand people jumping with them at the end, very touching.

Every time i go on an album listening spree from dreamcatcher . Gosh, really in awe how good their music are. Excited for part 2 and thanks for reacting to them❤
Red Sun's lyrics are intentionally cryptic. "Red Sun" was the catchphrase of a TV hypnotist when putting people to sleep, so the US equivalent would be a swinging pocketwatch, or saying "look deeply into my eyes", "listen closely to my voice" or "your eyes feel heavy". Notice also the finger click that hypnotists often use to command people. So the song is basically about "putting someone under a spell".
Hm i know you said you didn’t want to watch the special clips because there were no captions but…Black or White and Sahara both do have captions? Red Sun I think is the only video from this album that doesn’t, of the six (Scream, Red Sun, Black or White Dingo performance, Sahara self-made MV, Paradise, and Full Moon). Although I think it’s probably best that you heard Sahara on its own first, cuz the self-made MVs are very humorous and I think that makes it harder to really appreciate the song on its own. But anyway, thanks for such a long reaction!!! This album does have so many iconic DC songs. Tension for a long time was their encore song at concerts, though now they do Reason. And Red Sun…well, when you get to the special clip, you’ll understand 😂 I don’t want to spoil anything! There’s lots waiting in the second half too, including Siyeon’s solo debut! And for when you get to it, you should know that the song Full Moon is actually a much earlier release-it was for their very first anniversary! I *think* they probably included it on this album so that Dongie would still be credited as participating and could get her share of the royalties. Also, I think I saw someone else mention it but there’s a special clip of Handong doing a gorgeous Chinese medley of a few DC songs, including Jazz Bar! It’s always so special when they get to perform songs from here and Lose Myself as OT7. And while it’s sad that she couldn’t participate on these albums, spending that time away gave her SO much more confidence, and she worked hard the entire time to improve her skills for when she came back. We might not have the powerful Dongie we have today if that hadn’t happened, so there’s the silver lining :)
About the meaning of the lyrics... The term “red sun” is associated with hypnosis in South Korea (If I remember correctly, because of some old famous guy who had a show about hypnosis). So Dreamcatcher's Red Sun is about leaving someone in a trance + some witches themes.

Best album in the history of modern music. It has everything on such level it's unreal. Their second album was okay, because it's basically impossible to outdo Dystopia: The Tree of Language. Actually quite smart, getting to know the songs first so you can focus on the MVs later. So you don't get 'attacked', as the kids say, by audio and video at the same time. Sahara's special MV has lyrics btw iirc, which is good because they act out the lyrics in it, (as they do in Break the Wall). Edit: Interestingly enough, you're description at 7:53 fits quite well with why I love modern metal genres like Metalcore, Deathcore, Djent, and Thall so much. It takes you on a ride and it overwhelms you, calms you down, touches you, sends you to a beautiful soundscape and then throws you for a loop often all in the same song. If it's done well, it's great. All they while a lot of artists take inspiration from other genres lik hip hop, electronica or pop, which also is an aspect it has in common with K-Pop.

Loved the reaction! Doesn't matter the genre, DC kills it, and every album shows it. Also, if you're already hooked, without having seen how ridiculous and crazy the girls are then you're already doomed my friend. I can't remember if I recommended any guides yet but there are two that I recommend for people to watch. The Ultimate 2021/2022 Dreamcather guide by Dreamworld is probably the most comprehensive guide and gives the most overall information. This one does have small snippets of their title tracks up to BEcause (about 10 seconds each) that some consider to be spoilers, but honestly, it mostly just seems to get people more hyped to listen to more of their songs in my experience. The This is____ series by Insomnicsy is all about dep dives on each of the members. There are 3 seasons to that guide, 2020, 2021, & 2020 with each season being different clips/sections showing you the members personalities.
I really recommend checking out some guides or insomnicsy's this is series on youtube. It will help you learn more about the group and their personalities outside of their music. Welcome to Dream World again. Jazz Bar is my fav too in this album although Red Sun is the one that catch my ears attention at first listen. Their B-sides just so good and lets not forget that they are doing rock most of the time lol.

Btw, for Siyeon's solo song "Paradise" at the end of the album, the MV does have subs and there is also a bonus piano version special clip too that I highly recommend, if you're interested, you can either watch it after the MV or in another reaction like when you watch the special clips for the other songs of the album. Oh and for the Sahara self made MV there are subs and when you do react to it you should watch it with the subs on as they add context to what they're doing, but in a way it's a good thing you watched a lyrics video first because the MV is so distracting that it's impossible to fully focus on the lyrics like you did there on a first listen :)

Handong is the Ice Princess from Wuhan, China. Since she can't travel, the company asked her what she would do in China, she told them that she still want to improve herself by joining the Chinese Idol Survival Show Youth With You and the company agrees to her decision then {everytime the shows aired, Insomnia always asked if the members already watched handong's performance or haven't }. but during that time, the members always mention Handong in their Vlive every time they miss her. They all have covers of various songs, and Siyeon wrote her song Paradise (that's on the end of Tree of Language, actually). Siyeon also has a stunning cover of Speechless from the live action Aladdin movie, even Disney saw it and commented on it. On the Apocalypse Save Us album, each girl wrote and sang their own solo song as well, and I remember that Dami also has a special clip of a song she wrote a few years ago. They also have cover duets (I know JiU and SuA did a cover of something but I don't remember what it was). Siyeon, Yoohyeon, and SuA also did a cover of Really Really by Winner. Us Insomnias are well fed. 👄👌
Actually, there are groups of InSomnia who works to put Subtitles in Dreamcatcher's MV, but since TH-cam retracted their policy for other people to fill the subtitles except the content creator or the channel owner, many songs of Dreamcatcher got no subs for lyrics in it. you can find it in the older MV later on the names of the people who submit the subs to DCC

You mentioned that you listen more Korean music than western music now. I'm the same way.
The best analogy I have for the differences between western music vs Korean music, especially when it comes to pop music, is the difference between a carousel and a roller coaster.
On a carousel you basically go round and round, there may be some ups and you end up where you started, it really doesn't go anywhere. In general you may enjoy the ride but it's not very exciting. There isn't much impact.
On a roller coaster the ups and downs are more dramatic. They hit you with more twists and turns. They'll change things up and flip you upside down. Sure, like a carousel, in the end you end up in the same place, but it feels a lot more like you took a journey to get there. It's a lot more exciting.
Okay, before anyone comes at me, I'm not trying to crap all over the western music industry. I am aware that there are a lot of standout performers and they put out a lot of good music. I am talking in general terms here. I'm talking majorities here. The majority of western music is simply not as creative and as well put together as the majority of Korean music. The bulk of the western music I've hears lately just seems lackluster and uncreative. Every now and then I hear a new song and I'm like "oooh, that's goood", but most of the time it's just seems meh and disposable.
There's a reason why Kpop is becoming a global phenomenon.

Red Sun's lyrics are intentionally cryptic. "Red Sun" was the catchphrase of a TV hypnotist when putting people to sleep, so the US equivalent would be a swinging pocketwatch, or saying "look deeply into my eyes", "listen closely to my voice" or "your eyes feel heavy".
Notice also the finger click that hypnotists often use to command people.
So the song is basically about "putting someone under a spell".
Hm i know you said you didn’t want to watch the special clips because there were no captions but…Black or White and Sahara both do have captions? Red Sun I think is the only video from this album that doesn’t, of the six (Scream, Red Sun, Black or White Dingo performance, Sahara self-made MV, Paradise, and Full Moon). Although I think it’s probably best that you heard Sahara on its own first, cuz the self-made MVs are very humorous and I think that makes it harder to really appreciate the song on its own.
But anyway, thanks for such a long reaction!!! This album does have so many iconic DC songs. Tension for a long time was their encore song at concerts, though now they do Reason. And Red Sun…well, when you get to the special clip, you’ll understand 😂 I don’t want to spoil anything!
There’s lots waiting in the second half too, including Siyeon’s solo debut! And for when you get to it, you should know that the song Full Moon is actually a much earlier release-it was for their very first anniversary! I *think* they probably included it on this album so that Dongie would still be credited as participating and could get her share of the royalties.
Also, I think I saw someone else mention it but there’s a special clip of Handong doing a gorgeous Chinese medley of a few DC songs, including Jazz Bar! It’s always so special when they get to perform songs from here and Lose Myself as OT7. And while it’s sad that she couldn’t participate on these albums, spending that time away gave her SO much more confidence, and she worked hard the entire time to improve her skills for when she came back. We might not have the powerful Dongie we have today if that hadn’t happened, so there’s the silver lining :)
About the meaning of the lyrics... The term “red sun” is associated with hypnosis in South Korea (If I remember correctly, because of some old famous guy who had a show about hypnosis). So Dreamcatcher's Red Sun is about leaving someone in a trance + some witches themes.

Actually quite smart, getting to know the songs first so you can focus on the MVs later. So you don't get 'attacked', as the kids say, by audio and video at the same time. Sahara's special MV has lyrics btw iirc, which is good because they act out the lyrics in it, (as they do in Break the Wall).
Edit: Interestingly enough, you're description at 7:53 fits quite well with why I love modern metal genres like Metalcore, Deathcore, Djent, and Thall so much. It takes you on a ride and it overwhelms you, calms you down, touches you, sends you to a beautiful soundscape and then throws you for a loop often all in the same song. If it's done well, it's great. All they while a lot of artists take inspiration from other genres lik hip hop, electronica or pop, which also is an aspect it has in common with K-Pop.

Loved the reaction! Doesn't matter the genre, DC kills it, and every album shows it. Also, if you're already hooked, without having seen how ridiculous and crazy the girls are then you're already doomed my friend.
I can't remember if I recommended any guides yet but there are two that I recommend for people to watch.
The Ultimate 2021/2022 Dreamcather guide by Dreamworld is probably the most comprehensive guide and gives the most overall information. This one does have small snippets of their title tracks up to BEcause (about 10 seconds each) that some consider to be spoilers, but honestly, it mostly just seems to get people more hyped to listen to more of their songs in my experience.
The This is____ series by Insomnicsy is all about dep dives on each of the members. There are 3 seasons to that guide, 2020, 2021, & 2020 with each season being different clips/sections showing you the members personalities.

They have a comeback this May, the 3rd album to complete the Apocalypse trilogy.
I knew about the album but I didn’t know it would be connected to any storyline. I got things to catchup on lol
Apocalypse: Save Us with Maison was the first of the Apocalypse series, Apocalypse: Follow Us with Vision was number two and in May we’re getting Apocalypse….? which will finish the current trilogy :)
