- The comedy world lost a rising star on February 25, 2021. Erik Myers who’s brand of comedy was not only outrageous it was unique and one-of-a-kind. Erik had just begun to carve out his own niche and unique voice in the comedy world right when COVID hit. Hopping from club to club to pick up a few bucks here and there to pay rent and eat, but more importantly to hone your craft and be seen by audiences, all but taken away by this deadly disease. Needless to say the downtime for a comedian such as Erik has been more than diversionary as he as well as all stand-up comedians struggle to survive as it is. Add in having lost their lifeline…the stage, their live audience, only ads to the struggle to survive as a stand-up comedian in a COVID world. The details are still coming in, so we don’t know exactly what happened. All we know is that he was struck by a vehicle just outside of Amarillo Texas. Sadder still, Erik had just buried his Father on February 17 who had passed away from a long bout with cancer. When the news of Eriks passing hit social media this morning I couldn't believe what I was reading. Can't be, could it be another Erik Myers? He was such a sweet human being and a brilliant mind. Erik was only just reaching his rightful place in the comedy world before all of this craziness. Erik and his style of comedy will surely be missed by all who enjoyed his manic and hilarious sense of humor. I for one was a big fan and he made me laugh every time I saw him perform. I enjoyed every minute working with Erik on this show, which turned out to be his last performance on Showtime. Erik was a true talent. This is so sad to hear. Heartbroken for sure, the comedy world will surely be a little less funny tonight. God rest your soul Erik Myers!

Comedian Erik Myers, a Florida native, died on Tuesday February 24, 2021 in a car accident (He was hit by a car while crossing the street) in Amarillo. He was en route to perform in Dallas at Hyena's Comedy Nightclub.
Myers could do something very few comics are capable of doing: He could make audiences and comedians laugh.
Erik would have gone down as one of the best comedians of all time. He was absolutely unstoppable on stage. Very few comedians could follow him. He was incredibly humble, smart, thoughtful, and genuine. I am proud to have him consider me his best friend. I miss ya buddy. 💔
Heard this material a million times but I laugh every time because of his delivery. Hilarious! The Taco Bell application (not seen here) is one of his best...

He was sadly killed in a car accident recently. I performed with him a handful of times and he was very chill to hangout with. One of the funniest comedians I’ve ever worked with.

I used to help bartend at my mothers bar on occasion. This one lady complained about the “sex on the beach” I made her. I told her to consider it a “dry hump in the dirt” and gave her a dollar off lol.

I woke up on a normal day Tuesday AM and while running errands I thought later I’d go online to see what Erik Myers was up to these days..and then I read he was hit by a vehicle and died. Just sucks! Sad. 😢❤️🙏🏻
