    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Usually the bottom of the groove doesn't matter if it's perfectly smooth or not. So historically speaking this is one that was only made for one direction. But if you want to more power to you. Twice the fun of putting them together.

  • @kencarlile1212

    Alright, I was debating about making this comment, but after that joke at the end, you deserve it. How about a 1/8 x 1/8 x 1/8 for those of us who make little boxes? (yes, I know this probably isn't feasible, but...) This does look like a really fun project, and hoo boy is it more affordable than purchasing a complete one of these suckers new!

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      If you wanted to regrind the iron this kit could do that as the iron is 1/4 x 1/8

    • @johnbesharian9965
      @johnbesharian9965 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@WoodByWrightHowTo, Then the question becomes, "Where do I grind the 1/8" off of? The inside of the blade tip so the grove is a 1/4" from the edge, or the outside of the blade tip putting the grove 3/8" from the edge? [I don't doubt someone will do that. Why not? Spare blades are only $228.00 a dozen, he says with a Whiplash, Snidely.]

      It's not a kit, but Paul Seller's poor man's rabbet plane is dead simple to make with some wood and a chisel. It was one of the first things I made when I started about 4 years ago and I still use it! There's a video on TH-cam that's easy to follow, too!

      I did a series a while ago building a dovetail plane live. I think it was four live sessions it is relatively simple plane to make but you can't do a side exposed version like this so it takes a little bit more work. Not that much more though
