I would say its the hardest hanayama ive encountered. I figured out the enigma and even found an alternative solution to the quartet but my vortex was stuck for a few years before.i managed to un-jam it by hitting it with a pair of pliers to get it unstuck. At the very least its the one most vulnerable to serious jamming
@@ampeater777 yes it can get jammed easily if you force it even a bit. The “real” solution can be done pretty smoothly but if you don’t know it then it’s really easy to jam it
@GregGelf24 which is an informed quality of puzzlers like us. We didn't build it but we are gonna try every move to solve and then unsolve it. It is the first hanayama i was afraid of because it can just break itself
@@ampeater777I hate when that happens. Being unable to try your theories because the puzzle’s build can’t withstand your ideas is annoying. And then we end up forgetting what we even tried
I managed to disassemble and reassemble it one time but i will never attempt it again. I hate the vortex. Its just not fun and prone to getting badly jammed
@@ampeater777 I really understand that. I made a video of how much I hate it. It can really be very frustrating. Once you can do it consistently it’s satisfying. But the difficulty is really obnoxious
@GregGelf24 the hallmark of a good puzzle i suppose. Hanayama certainly rates it incorrectly because even their most difficult ones took me a few days at most but only the vortex had to be set down, and taken years. Easily max rank
@@ampeater777for sure. Vortex is insane. I would even say unfair. But the other hardest Hanayamas (Rotor for example) aren’t quite as crazy as this. I think it’s just overcomplicated as a design. I’d argue it’s not a “beautiful” puzzle
@GregGelf24 unfair is a good way to put it. For me at least, the 3 pieces look so similar but are distinctly different that it becomes hard to keep track of the moves being made. Id say you are far better but im not bad, the vortex is a ridiculous puzzle
This is one of the hardest puzzles to ever exist. It will be hard even with this tutorial, so hang in there, you've got this!
@@GregGelf24 hanayama did not rank the difficulty the puzzle correctly
@@ampeater777it should be level 7 😂
Nice to see you appreciate this puzzle. Nicely solved.
It was so sad that I disrespected it for so long😂 it's pretty cool now though.
@@GregGelf24 whats your favorite hanayama? Mine is the quartet
@@ampeater777that’s a great question. I’m planning to make a tier list of them. I really like Medallion and it’s probably my current favorite
Super hard puzzle I could never solve it but after watching you I still can’t 😁
@@bradleytuckwell4881 lol. You can do it if you really want to!

I didnt alter the puzzle with the pliers, i just had to give it a good knock to get the pieces loose

@GregGelf24 it doesnt help that the vortex is difficult to even visually keep track of because the pieces look so similar but are all different

@@ampeater777nah I’m not that good at this kind of take-apart. I’ve seen lots of puzzles but Hanayama finds my blind spots rather often
