- Here is a clip of a move I did a while ago back from Adelaide to Brisbane - Pulling a Drake 8 line platform with a 300 tonne mobile crane aboard - we had to use the day cab Super Liner to get our length down to avoid using police escorts in South Aust... It was a long trip but the big girl puts out well!! This truck is running about 700-750hp easy.... I still enjoy driving the 12 speed box - Copy Haul Ass....

Who the fuck needs a radio to listen to, with a soundtrack like this!!!!
the 4 people that disliked this are 4 people that can't appreciate the Awesome sound of a Mack E9-V8!
I don't think anyone is interested in those 4!
Those people would be greta thunbergs family members
@@alexrobertson9294 Who is greta tuna?
💨💨💨💨💪💪🚚🚚🚚
@@alexrobertson9294 You beat me to it mate - dead on.
@@pfarraldcash6095 Greta Tuna - that's a newbie. She's really getting the shuffle these days.
I've Probably Watched this video 30 times... It Never gets old!!! Between the Thumping, The Turbo Whistle and the Black Smoke. I could watch it over and over again!!! :D
😂😂😂...mate I been watching it about 40 times and I never get tired of listening to it...I simply love the sound ahhh mahhh
Classic Mack, even today they are a viable option for heavy haulage, back when you bought a Mack which was all Mack ,12 speed coupled to legendary v8 and running on camelback suspension, does not get any better.
Wedge 850t3 except for when you’ve gotta hold it all back on the other side!! Lol may as well rub your Redboks on the steer tyres for all the Dynatard is worth!!
Bit still cool AF!!
@@AUSSIEGIZMO76no doubt there….the guys who say an E9 or especially a 1693 or 3408 CAT are the best engine for pulling heavy in the mountains either have never driven a truck that wasn’t on a computer game or they haven’t driven anything but those engines and a 3406 or a Mack 6 cyl and are so blindly brand loyal they can’t admit their faults. Those big CAT’s have never even had a jake available for them and the Macks with the Dynatard might as well not have one unless you’re empty and even the ones with actual Jacobs engine brakes are still nearly useless anywhere but flat ground and in town. Taking 88,000 lbs up a 5+ mile 8% grade that’s just as long and steep on the downside I’d rather have to drag up the hill at 25 MPH with the 4-ways on with a 400 Big Cam Cummins with the overhead and jakes set dead on or a 445 8V92 with freshly run racks and jakes than a Mack or V8 Cat set to 750HP that’ll pull clear to the top at damn near the speed limit because coming off the other side I know that Cummins or Detroit will come down the other end 1 gear lower and my brakes will still be plenty cool to stop at the bottom if I have to.
They’re their own breed for sure, I’d definitely take Camelback over air ride or a junk 4-leaf setup any day but I still prefer the old school Hendrickson RT walking beam suspension to anything else if I have the choice. I’ve driven both and the Camelback does seem to articulate a little further but I’ve seen at least 5 triaxle dumps on Camelback end up on their side from a broken Tree or snapped Trunnion bar when they start getting a little worn out / sloppy…With the Hendrickson there’s much less chance for that to happen even when they’re getting fairly sloppy and need rebushed. I’ve seen the old bolt and adapter style beam end adapters break, main leaves broken, even a few with a split eye, and a ton of busted center tubes (those doesn’t even stop you from finishing out the day LOL) and the only one that didn’t stand up and make it to the shoulder with the rubber still on the road was an old freight liner that actually snapped a walking beam in two and laid it over, and he’d seen cracks in that beam and kept running it grossing over 100k with 38 ton loads of bottom ash.
Warning, you are driving on the wrong side! 😂😂😂
Nice Truck !!👍💪😎
Brings back awesome memories as a kid in the passengers seat jiggling around wishing I had a seat like dads - the whine in 12th gear use to do my head though lol
V-8 Macks sound very cool, a music all their own. Thanks for posting...
Sounds brilliant mate. Worst thing Mack ever did was drop the V8. There's a guy in the north-west with a 610 V8 Titan on triples that never misses a beat.
Is he still running?
This video has been in my favorites for a few years. Great sound of engine thumping over the turbo when shifting. Quality right up there with Scania V-8 sound and Cat 3408 V-8 sound videos.
Thanks for the great entertainment.
Hope to see a video of you doing a pull in a hill and show us your shifting prowess of "losing" gears. Every video has shifting up - rare to see a video of having to shift down on a hill with a load. Nothing like running at a hill at 60mph(100kmh) and then downshift a bunch to achieve a good 25mph (40km/h) in a hill.
My former boss had a Mack like yours, in 600hp range hauling treelength trees 146,000lbs and he snapped 2 driveshafts over the years pulling on a local famous hill "Sistonen's Hill" in Thunder Bay.
Pretty much eat everybody's lunch in that hill when it come to pulling a load over it.
Love the vid
Cheers
Joe from Canada
WoW nice Dash The V8 Hummming NZ out the window 😃 Sounds Good 👍 100% Lovely Jan.27.2024
Just bloody marvellous, sweet sweet music!
Still vivid in my mind, seeing a Super Liner towing a hydraulic platform and a Volvo F16 up a steep incline during my apprenticeship. Mack = Pure Power.
Such a bold, robust sound from that v8. Niice
Nice super liner and nice engine sound!
Jeez, Rollin' Coal with the best of them! Great clip!
@roadwolf2 This truck has a triple-countershaft Mack 12 speed transmission - everything is on a single stick!
0-70 km/h in over 2 minutes damn that's mad impressive for pulling 300 tonnes
Love the white face gauges!....Nothing like the sound of a big block Mack!!
man thats a sharp looking superliner love the interior man keep the vids comin
god I love that tint, such a nice rig
This is all the rage France now. Brand new Renault V8s with straight pipes haha. I hear them all the time when I'm there
That interior is beautiful.
nice truck man! that super liner inside look great :)
thank you for this video
E-9 V8s and superliners are the best combos that for sure
She sounds amazing!! Keep the hammer down.
This is my new ringtone.
@tfraud My thoughts EXACTLY. I love the sound of a Straight Piped V8 Diesel!
Sounds Incredible!.. love it :)
Looking out your windshield with the tinting on the bottom two thirds is very interesting. In the states some drivers like to put large visors on there trucks which to someone like me who is 6'6" just doesn't work because I can't see out of them unless I slouch down and hold my head sideways driving down the road. I love the sound of Mack V8's and have owned several Dump Trucks with 12 speeds and 1 old R-Model with a 20 speed that unless I was insanely loaded I drove it kind of like a 12 skipping gears
Love it ! keep them coming !
I remember the air wipers on my R model mack , what a pain in the ass they can be but it sure did have a great motor
Beautiful Truck!
Great truck. Classic engine throb!
Beautiful music !!!!
What a fine vehicle!!!!
Now that truck sounds awsome you need to do more videos like that.
LOVE THIS TRUCK !!!!
Excellent video!!!
The Speedometer is right there!!!!!
How can you not like that sound.. mean.💯
Love that truck!
What a great Sound!!! 👍👍👍
sounds awesome
Thats awesome mate. Personally i reckon those mechanical E9s sound a mile better than the scania V8 these days. Might be just me....
Sounds great. Fuck the tape deck
You are right. I know why it is done that way, it's just funny how things are done differently across this great world to accomplish the same thing. Cut down on glare. Alot of trucks over here paint their hoods flat black to accomplish this.
Damn that v8 note sounds nice
Nothing can beat V8 Diesel sound . :-)
great sounding truck and good lookin interior. wished we could tint the windows that dark here in the U.S.
awesome!!!!!! listen to her roar like a lion 🦁 🦁
I just think Mac gave up on big power units in the USA-- biggest engine you could get is an mp8 with barely 500 horsepower and most of them come in with 445 horsepower and the mp10 has been discontinued so give mack gaveup on the heavy duty market---but still builds them in Australia as we know
That is the SHIT!!! you guys sure know what real gear is and how to present it.
oh and leave the wipers they add that special retro character of older muscle trucks
love the dash
Monster!!
Wooohoooo amazing.
@stereorail its to stop the glare reflecting off the bonnet (hood if ur in the states). used to see it a lot in Australia but not so common these days.
I never ran my E9 over about 1800 pulling a load, I kept it at a max of about 1600 most of the time. I tried to run it harder but it didnt pull any better running the piss out of it so I just kept the throttle light and let the truck do the work, I could out pull anybody around here no problem without beating on the truck. I had a friend with a CAT 475/550 high torque that try as he might he couldnt outpull the ol superdog, made him sick!
this is a nice v8 sound
nice lookin truck wish I could run that one
Not a huge fan of Mack trucks, but the older ones had so much more style.
Love the white gauges and the custom panel.
Thats awesome.
the mobile crane would weigh around.90 tonne, with added weights it would weigh nearly 300. weights are usually carried on separate roadtrains and the crane is set up on site. as they say dont let the truth get in the way of a good yarn, that said the old girls sounds great and is doing a great job, with load and platform id guess it would weigh around 150 tonne, still a substantial weight.
Agree, there is absolutely nothing like an Aussies bush, for a good didgeridoing.
just cool!
I had an 84 Super Liner with an E-9 v8 making 560 to the rear wheels it had the air shift 12spd too man I loved that truck it would pull anything. On the subject of killing the v-8 it was already dead in the US due to epa regs and Mack had no intentions of bringing one back it cost too much to meet emissions and was too heavy for most buyers. The MP10 16liter makes more torque faster with Mack programming than Volvo and they pull damn good from what I hear.
i like this video, this engine is so powerfull.
Air wipers...the inventer should be slow roasted over a hot damn fire..I had a freightliner FLD and a 79 White Road Commander(commode) that had them and they suck. Nice sounding Bulldog Mack. Wish I had a V-8..LOL
This Superdog is MEAN. Awesome!!!
That amazes me how much the landscape looks like the southwest United States....If you told me you were outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico I would believe you.
kennethrobinson11231 I had a 1984 Superliner with an E9 440 it put 560 to the wheels and it still runs today here in TN, 80000lbs was nothing you could skip shift the mack 12spd. I love to older Macks they are the toughest trucks youll ever find I had the 84 a 93 CH with a E7 400 and a 04 with a AI 427 all were great trucks and are still working today. I liked the Super Dog with the V-8 the most Id love to get her back just to cruise on the weekends.
Can't go too wrong with a Mack, Kennys are alright too.
Old school Mack is best school 😁
@kennethrobinson11231
Volvo killed the Mack engine line after they bought them out (Via purchasing Renault). Mack stopped the V8 production in 1998 BUT it is known that Mack was revamping the design to make a come back in the states with even bigger HP but Volvo canned the Mack engine line in favor of their own. Damn shame really.
I don't know what most of the fuss is about but my dad run a e9 back in the 80's and 90's from nc to California getting 7mpg and got over 1.5 million miles out of it and only problems I knew of with the V8's were in the heads (dropping valves and such) but that was it. Fuel mileage depended on your right foot and the last V8 I seen was in a early 2000's model CL700 elite (long hood CH)
Hope you have kept her still like it was then 👍
beautiful truck! V8's never really caught on up here in North America for big rigs. they could pass anything but a fueling station though.
Pretty sure the lower screen tint is to limit glare bounce off the black bonnet, only pedestrians out there are animals and usually don't wear dark clothing. Speedo shows somewhere in the vicinity of 70-80kph which is well fast enough hauling 300 tonne...jesus that V8 surely gets that weight up and moving damn quick. To drive the mobile crane to its destination would be slower and more expensive (fuel, shift drivers, weight permits/taxes) hence trailer it via HHA.
No it has tinted windows but I have seen 600 cat pull the same if not alot simailer and was at 20000 just keeping the truck on a v8 such as so could probably pull 3 or 4 of those to do that
Glorious sounding truck!
More than makes up for all that time spent with just a view of a dogs arse! ;)
holy shit that is cool
Constant turbo! Sounds more like a Trent 900 engine.
@chevy82250
Also, Mack switched to 16L around 1979 with their ENDT1000. It used a front mounted after cooler but there was an experimental version that used a Tip Turbine cooler and possibly an air-water cooler. Mack was also ready to ditch the V8 in the late 70's because of proposed emissions laws. They developed a prototype that used the heads off of a 14 liter ENDT865/866 V8 and put them on a large displacement strait 6 block that was dubbed the Mack "Big Six" engine. That law never passed.
Everyting about this truck is cool, and sounds cool.
EXCEPT FOR THAT WIPER...
bloddy nice truck and nice exhuast system
Absolutely.
Nice rig. I like the pinstripe on the dashboard. You should give a video tour of your Mack.
You boys down under sure do have some nice trucks. I would love to get down there some day and see a road train in person. I would really like to put a few miles on one but I don't think my brain will let me shift with my left hand.
Rollin thunda 😊❤
me encanta este camion
Wish my Powerstroke sounded that good!
@Signaturegen2 It's still around - look on the Mack Trucks Australia website!
Fuck me........fuckin awesome......love any v8 Mack....could never get sick of that sound boppin in my ears.........where few survive....Mack bulldogs thrive..
Great would like to see Them.
@texast525
So, you made a trip from Adelaide to Brisbane with that Mack? I'm a Mack fan meself, Mate!
Love it
@MrMulde2 You are correct, there is little torque at lower rpms when under the weight this guy pulls.
I love an E9 I want my old one back, did you notice how easily that big V8 got a 300 ton crane moving?
Yes it is!
@kennethrobinson11231 I never had the chance to work on one of these engines, but what I heard is that they would shake themselves to pieces eventually. Shame really, they do sound great. 1000 cubic inches of diesel Mack V8, what's not to love?
SuperNiceSound V8❤💪
Nice Truck. Can you do a vid with sounds from outside like this?
TURBO SOUND 24/7
