It might be a ton easier just to use a doll needle. It's as thin as an upholstery needle but it's much longer. It's called a doll needle because it's used to go all the way through the doll when sewing limbs on cloth dolls. And you can take care of leftover dents by dipping the ball into almost boiling water for a minute or two then immediately dipping it in ice water to set it.
I made one of these but with happy face stress balls instead of ball pit balls. I used rats tail cord for the string cos it doesn't have much stretch to it and a knitting needle with the string duct-taped to the end of it.

When I said keys I mean the colorful plastic keys that babies play with. I made another one two years ago out of easter eggs. It wasn't a good idea because some of the eggs got crushed and they broke.
I'm currently trying to get in a sort of Scene style (Basically take goth, Emo, and mix it with old internet and rainbows and you got scene.) And I have always wanted to make these! I really appreciate this tutorial! ^^
I wonder if hot glue over the holes (if u used a thin enough fishing line type string) would help with keeping the balls inflated since the air couldn’t escape as easily 🤔
