So refreshing to see a fellow metal head reacting to Taylor I am so sick of music “snobs” hating on her and calling her overrated when she’s literally one of the most talented musicians/writers out there. As a magazine headline said she can compose a song as catchy as the Beatles did whilst writing lyrics detailed as Joni Mitchell.
In the tour that shes on at the moment, there's a song with a lyric "the loudest woman this town has ever seen", and she started shouting it. Also, I hadn't seen the live version of cornelia street before watching this video, its so great!
I appreciate how much attention you give to the subtleties and brilliance of her writing. Loving your Taylor reactions so far, keep it up! I would love to see you react to Death By a Thousand Cuts from this same concert!
I love when people give her a chance and ends up loving her. There’s a reason she’s so loved it’s cause she’s actually very good. Love this song, this is one of my favorite performances. Great reaction, subscribed to see your Taylor journey :)
You really should react to her singing “All too Well” (10 minute version) on her Eras tour, it is enthralling to say the least! She plays her guitar (with her band playing in the background of course) and she just feels all these emotions and projects them to 75,000 people! It’s amazing
Every time I walk the real Cornelia street in NYC I sing this and think of my past. It sadly makes me smile and remember my memories. Her place was stunning. She sings it perfectly.
Want to see her back in her earlier days playing live? Try Haunted from the Speak Now Tour. It’s like a broadway play and she’s just a kid. Also, there is clearly a closet rock & roller flirting with coming out. Many of us think a rock album is a matter of when, not if.
Hello. Enjoyed your reaction. If you enjoyed this performance, I think you’d like the performance of Wildest Dreams at the Grammy Museum. This is Taylor on an electric guitar sinning a ballad-type song. If you’d like to check out something a little more on the pop-rock song with powerful vocals, the Reputation Tour performance of Don’t Blame Me is iconic among fans. Have a good day!
Thank you for reacting to this performance, and giving her vocals credit where credit is due. I LOVE when she sings and adds that grit and all the emotion in her performances, she’s just simply amazing! Death by a Thousand Cuts now please :)
So good. The music is so stronger n TS make a magic performance. Your voice goes so far. She s a great singer. I m introduce in taylor s world in last year n i obcessed for her music. Have many spetaculars songs
You're may fave new reactor. It's not common for new reactors to really pay attention to lyrics and understand it. Yours were onpoint. Also, thank you for appreciating her vocals. ❤
She loves reimagining songs live and does rock versions! I think youd like haunted (from the speak now tour), i knew you were trouble and we are never ever getting back together (both from the 1989 world tour). I also agree with death by a thousand cuts from the same concert the other commenter said
I LOVE your perspective on Taylor! There truly are so many levels to her genius, it can be appreciated pretty superficially, but it is really something when you start to pull back the layers, musically, lyrically, visually, all the connections, it’s absolutely bonkers!
You've got that right! She makes my head spin with her storylines, musical composition and interwoven lyrics. Now I'm bonkers!!! (well, even more so 😉) Thank you, my friend! ❤️
If you really want to get stabbed in the heart listen to "so long London". She wrote Cornelia streer when she was falling in love with Joe and I don't think the back and forth ever went away and they were together for 6 years. There's a line that says, (in so long London) My friends said it isn't right to be scared, every day of a love affair, When you're not sure if he wants to be there.
Oh, now I see. I see the tie in now with Cornelia St and having learned about this 6 yr relationship with Joe and how they were practically holed up in an apartment for 6 yrs. Thank you for the info! ❤️
@@BemusingBill yeah, I think they did love each other but they never really found that stable safe equilibrium. If you listen to a lot of the songs on the 'Lover' album you can hear a lot of the turmoil kind of cleverly disguised as happy love songs. There's a song called the great war (on midnights) talking about a big fight that broke them but they found their way through it but it always read to me as she was fighting for him, and he was fighting with her not for her. But my favorite albums are actually evermore and TTPD.
@@BemusingBill I recommend listening to "the Archer", and then listen to "the great war" and think about them as the same fight and I honestly think 'peace' is kind of the end of the trilogy of songs.
I love that you recognize the way she employs inflections! On her most recent album, TTPD, she sounds completely different between songs, whether soft and flirty on imgonnagetyouback, to fury on Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, raspy and hollow on So Long London, the list goes on. I love it--and you can really see the difference when you hear those songs played live on Eras as a 'surprise song,' because there she sings it 'straight' without the nuance from the studio. The songs hit both times, but the nuance is fascinating and on another level!
Excellent reaction. I really appreciate the respect you showed her writing and vocal talent. I am so happy to find you! In that same concert in Paris, she sings Death by a Thousand Cuts and it is excellent. If possible, I would love to hear your reaction to that specific performance. Thanks so much❤
Hey Bill! I feel you, I have almost the same story. Big rock&metal fan, huge Tool fan (nice shirt, by the way). I am 50 years old and turned into a Swifty through my 20 years old daughter. She is a fan for years and normally has a very good taste in music. She even went with me to see Tool live. So one day I thought "It can't be that bad, let's have a listen"......... and I was sold. She is so damn good in what she does. Great storyteller, great songwriter, amazing poet. I love her.
I've come across a lot of metalheads here in the comments that are big fans. I think she gets smeared by those ignorant about her so we're not sure and then we check her out and are hooked! She's amazing! 🤘❤️🤘
Oh i loved your reaction. Can’t wait to see you react to more from taylor! As someone who is a swiftie and LOVE metal and rock (raised on 80s rock from my mom) i would recommend these -we are never ever getting back together (rock version) live from the 1989 tour -haunted. Either just the song or live from the speak now tour -don’t blame me. Live from the reputation tour. And also a personal favourite -this is me trying (long pond studio sessions)
I’m sure you’ve gotten these before but here are some suggestions just in case- my tears ricochet, exile, and this is me trying with interview. We are never getting back together again-live from the 1989 tour, intro and ready for it-live from the reputation tour as wall as don’t blame me from the same tour. But really any song. You can’t go wrong. Loving this so much!
You have to react to her Long Pong studio sessons but please watch the explanations she makes about the song she sings why and how she wrote the songs!!
Loving your Taylor reactions. This is my favourite version of Cornelia Street. Lots of good recs in the comments already, her discography is so huge you might be at this a while. I saw people suggest Death by a thousand cuts from this same concert. Thats a great one for sure, similar feel to this. I absolutely second third and fourth the suggestion of 'we are never getting back together " Specifically and very importantly must be the 1989 live tour version. It's a completely different experience to the studio version. You'd probably like anything from the Folklore Long Pond Studio sessions. My tears ricochet is the usual rec. Plus about a hundred other suggestions 😀
I know she has an enormous catalogue of music. As long as the song is here on TH-cam in some version I'll be covering it. Thank you for the recommendations I truly appreciate it! ❤️❤️
I also think to “walk Cornelia Street” is a metaphor for falling in love. So when she says she’s never be able to walk it again she’s saying if we break up I don’t think I would be able to love anyone else. ❤
@@BemusingBill thanks. 🙏 and as I’ve been thinking more about it I also think she’s using hyperbole when she’s says she’d never be able to walk the street again. She likely could and would but she’s expressing that it would be a painful process.
Love your thoughts and how much you appreciate the writing! Subscribed. You should check out "never getting back together" ROCK version on the EAS channel 😊 (th-cam.com/video/6bVsg1Ik-GQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mG_4HdO7WLi8nruN)

5:30 sadly she broke up with Joe, from London boy to So long, London(upcoming album). And of course she wrote a break up song about Joe - You’re losing me, I hope you’d react to it someday, it’s really sad tho.
i would LOVE to see your reaction to this acoustic performance she did in Chicago of "delicate" (th-cam.com/video/ADfRuFtV4GI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mQ5ziAS7BxiFihDr) and "gorgeous" (th-cam.com/video/1RoK67ZoMHk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LXkG2sgpNbx5U3hs) one of her best performances ever in my opinion. the crowd was amazing, and Taylor was really happy 🥹❤
Hello! Swiftie here🫶🏼. I started my Swiftien journey in 2021 with her pandemic Album Folklore and since then, I listened to her entire discography era by era. I suggest songs like "Champagne Problems" and "Tolerate It" both from their album Evermore, which is the sister of Folklore.💜 In a side note: Have you heard the music of 5 Seconds of Summer?? They are a band from Australia and their genre varies between pop-punk to pop-rock. I really recommend songs like "Jet Black Heart" "Airplanes" "Ghost Of You" "Bad Omens" "Take My Hand" "2011" 🖤

She paints a picture with her poetry, but uses inflection to fill out the picture. She’s a true storyteller in her delivery.
I agree with that! ❤️
I LOVE that you recognized this is not a breakup song, it is an acceptance of vulnerability song.
Honestly this could be my favorite TS song.
In the tour that shes on at the moment, there's a song with a lyric "the loudest woman this town has ever seen", and she started shouting it. Also, I hadn't seen the live version of cornelia street before watching this video, its so great!

Thank you! Sounds like that will be my next song! ❤️
Oh dear, here's another old metalhead who just may be adding the title of "Swiftie" to my list.
She's cool! Love these lyrics and the way she uses her voice. We're not alone my friend! There's a lot of us old metalheads that are diggin her.

I don’t normally comment on these but I was about to recommend we are never getting back to together 1989 tour version.
Yup
Its the rock version and its fantastic!!!!!@@BemusingBill
She did a series of performances in BBC, Radio One. where she did a cover of Phil Collins Cant Stop Loving You akong with some of her own.

That's awesome! Glad you're here! ❤️

Love it.
