Agreed. It's a lesson some people just can't learn. Other makers will tell you the same. It's the same to me as when I see people paying for a knife using PP FF. It is not worth the risk. I work too hard to lose money like that.
Survive reminds me of the Chinese housing market where the building companies sell unbuilt apartments and then uses the money to start new projects that never seem to get finished.
Yeah that really bugged me too. The way he played it off as if there were just a couple pesky complaints online that are the reason the state is knocking on his door to shut him down, it just felt and is so diminishing and dishonest about what’s actually going on.
Most likely snorted or shot up….but undoubtedly some addiction. It certainly would explain much of his behavior. But even addiction to gambling or porn is possible.
@@ctsean i have sent multiple emails and tried calling i was kind of holding out hope it wasn't a scam. Ill be going to my bank on my next days off to start a fraud investigation and refund. If they refund my money then im good. If they don't ill have to see about wheather it is fully civil or if offense charges can be filed. Then I need to find out where they need to be filed here or where he was when i paid him.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the state presses criminal charges against him. Regardless of his bankruptcy, he may have done some fraudulent and felonious things when dealing with company funds. I'd be surprised if he doesn't see Prison over some of these things.
Guy was convicted of multiple felonies after he was arrested in 1999 for burglary and trying to sell stolen firearms in Gettysburg. He is a felon and his felonious ways have influenced his business practices.
Also, the Attorney general needs to do an inventory audit immediately to prevent selling knives/parts/equipment on the secondary market. It’s crazy how much Survive Knives are going for on Ebay right now. Anyone think any of those ebay accounts are Guy?
@@Jake-bt3fc I’m talking about having someone specifically from either the state or 3rd party contractor who can evaluate, not only the manufacturing equipment, but also all of unused kydex sheaths, knife blanks, and fasteners. And when I say secondary market I mean selling completely built knives, that should go to customers who’ve already paid, on the secondary market like eBay or Facebook marketplace for an inflated sum of money.
Just discovered this video - and the news as I was looking to switch out my handle scales on my 7/7. This is very sad news. I was one of the 2015 pre order crew who actually got what I ordered 5 years later. While I did not get burned in this instance - I have been burned in others. This is the nature of our hobby (for those who are more invested than just a single working knife for the field). Sooner or later - a maker is going to not come through with your order or an expensive knife will be "lost" in the mail or stolen off your porch or you will receive something very expensive in poor condition/not as described. After being in the hobby for over 25 years or more I can say the best skill to develop is learning to "shake it off". You WILL be screwed over at one point or another - so getting in the right frame of mind to not let them both take your dollars and your mental health is key. I wish all of you the best and the dream of Survive Knives was good while it lasted. See you at the next incident.
@@KOAnonymouslyI did. Got an EDC 4 in elmax that the stated was in stock. Luckily I was able to get a refund and got a reiff F4 for about the same price.
Saying on their website that "we will absolutely not compromise our quality standards" then turning right around and selling factory "2nds" was infuriating to see.
Especially considering that most weren't factory seconds but actually just paid for knives that they wanted to be paid for again- Not to mention they say knives for life or whatever but if you ever need warranty work your SOL lol
Irony being that he was thus fraudulently selling the same knife twice - the first pre-order never receiving anything. The first pre-order placement should have been offered the 'second' along with a partial refund.
It is so sad to see an American focused manufacturer go out like this. Hurting other American manufacturers as well as so many customers. This leaves a ripple effect making it harder for the companies he has debt with to pivot like they need and must require more out of their current customers to stabilize the loss.
Guy made a video a few years back when the complaints started coming in and he literally said “the money is gone”. That should’ve been a red flag but unfortunately my preorder had been placed years back in 2016. Guy is a thief and he scammed a lot of people out of money, he needs to be sent to jail.
I cannot understand how someone could squander away so much when they’ve spent so much time and resources building it up. It’s all a shame and hopefully all or at least some of it can be made right as well as Guy being able to fix whatever it is that set him down this unfortunate path.
It would be cool if someone like yourself could end up with a bunch of their Steel and/or equipment for pennies on the dollar, after Guy is no longer involved...
I get the feeling he's maybe dealing with addiction. Whether it be drugs, gambling, whatever... THAT'S what it looks like to me. The disappearance of unfathomable amounts of money, mental and physical hygiene, the crumbling of personal relationships... Don't know what he's dealing with but I hope he comes clean and gets whatever help he needs and gets people their money back. Its a tough situation for everyone involved.
Here’s my question, If this has been going on for a decade, why is it just now coming to light? If I knew about this ten years ago, I wouldn’t have pre ordered from that company. All anyone saw was big names showing and promoting those knives and his brand. Everyone was expressing the quality ect. That’s why people got stolen from. No other reasons that I can see. If it were not for social media, no one would even know about Survive knives. Period. We were first failed by influencers on TH-cam.
@@100BearPaw Honestly, until the Magnacut issue came up, it looked like they were doing good! Esspecially after the DBK Dutch Bushcraft Knives Guy's did and outstanding review on the Survive GSO 5.1, Survive got a TON of free advertisements and the pre-paid orders flooded in, that was a TON of money that was infused into Survive! But around January of this year, things just got downright SQUIRRELY with their operation and I KNEW they were in big trouble, especially when Guy mentioned in one of his video's about Predetory Lending, when ever you here that mentioned, a company is in BIG Trouble! So there was HOPE for a little while, but did not last long! 😪😪😡😡🤬🤬
I am one of Survive's customers/victims. Ordered a GSO 4.7 in magnacut over 2 years ago and never received anything. I let it go for that long because I wanted to support a small business that actually did make good knives (I actually have a GSO 5 from many years ago). However, this information makes complete sense based on the response, or lack thereof, from Survive regarding my order. I had a suspicion about Guy's sketchy business practices, with long wait times for fulfillment while offering new knife models, but this information confirms my suspicions. Unfortunately, it sounds like my money is lost, with no hope for fulfilment of my order or refund of my money.
For anyone holding onto hope that you’ll get compensation from Survive!/ Guy..don’t hold your breath! He owes so much money to banks, corp. companies, lenders,, and attorneys that YOU WILL NEVER see your hundreds/thousands of dollars reimbursed. He’ll Be lucky to stay out of prison. This doesn’t even account for personal debt that we have no idea about.
Have several of Guy’s knives. Love them. But this is so disappointing. Especially after having stood behind him and stayed patient. I’ve been waiting for a GSO 12 since November 2019. At this point, please send me the blank and I’ll finish it up myself.
Im 99,9% sure that Guy has a major drug addiction. It would explain everything. It explains where the money went, why he lost track of his personal hygiene. Why he worked on some days and not others (being high makes one incredibly productive, withdrawals do the opposite). It also makes sense of him randomly leaving during work hours.
I would guess mismanagement and maybe a bipolar disorder. John said he could almost be like one of two very different people depending on the day. John also said there were thousands and thousands of dollars worth of cut knife blanks and other materials just sitting in the shop not being worked on.
@@WhispyWoods. Yeah I think the bipolar is a more likely assessment and untreated can lead to exactly what Heavyset Tactical referenced. He is also a bit of a knife/machining savant which tends to have mental health baggage as well. So I'd say in my armchair psychoanalysis that the only way he'll get his shit together is seeing a mental health professional and getting the right treatment (there are many options in this regard) which would enable him to be more functional and consistent and at that point would probably be a great investment for someone if Guy still had the inclination to be a knife manufacturer. It is really sad because I haven't heard a single comment anywhere about his knives being anything other than amazing. And for those who have not had to deal with friends and family members with serious mental health issues, many of the symptoms can come across as intentional/criminal...I assure you there is more to the story here than a con artist.
@@whiterock1865Yeah, fully agree. I have three of his knives - fantastic stuff, have pretty much sold all of the other ones I own - but it seems to me too that Guy is in a bipolar/extreme burnout situation.
I feel bad for those who had their money stolen. I can’t feel bad in the least for Guy. If he owned the fact that he made a ton of mistakes and did a whole lot of shady shit and didn’t make excuses for ANY of it, then I might feel slightly different… slightly but not much. But at least I’d respect the fact that he owned it. But his eternal victim mentality and criminal behavior is disgusting and disgraceful. Dirtbags gonna dirtbag.
It's like drugs/fentanyl once you get in you can't get out... and a person sinks like a ship. I have two Survive! Knives (GSO's 4.1 & 3.5) that I bought early on when shipping only took TWO weeks!
Hey Jacob, thanks for such an open and accurate (IMHO) video. Good job! Guy is a liar, thief, and lowest form of life. He conned so many people (personally am down 590 dollars on 2 orders placed in 2022) and even screwed over his own employees. In my opinion, he should get charged with fraud and do time in jail. Whether that happens or not, i hope nobody in the knife community will ever work with this guy ever again. If he had a sense of honour, which we all know he hasn't, he would at least ship out those blanks, scales, parts, and sheaths to waiting customers. It's not a great solution, i know, but it's better than nothing. After all, all those parts belong to the people who already paid. However, as you stated, everything will be sold to pay for his legal costs, so there is no hope there. Absolutely, nobody should have sympathy for Guy, i don't care what anyone says. Even if he is suffering from mental issues or some form of addiction, that is no excuse. He has done the crime, so he should do the time. I believe, however, that it will be his trump card in court, pleading that mental health issues made him not responsible for his actions. If i ever bump into Guy on the street............enough said. Anyway, thanks again for letting me have my rant. My heartfelt regards go out to you and any Survive customers like myself that got ripped off.
On the money. Honestly I am afraid that he has been hiding cash somewhere and plans to bounce. We will see. The sad part is that unless he is hiding cash somewhere he couldn't afford to ship all the blanks. Something like 3400 pre orders and blanks would cost him with packing materials probably ballpark... 9 dollars each, and that might be on the low side. Guy had to give away his dog- presumably because he can't afford to feed it. Maybe though he did it because he intends to flee the country.
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors yeah, you are right there. Guy decides to go "overseas", definitely he has enough money if he has been hording it. Not sure, though. However, glad you brought up shipping costs. That's another thing all the customers got ripped off on. Can't speak for you folks in the US, but in Europe, we had to stump up 30 dollars in advance for shipping....so he also cheated us out of the shipping costs. Jesus, is there no limit to Guy's crimminallity? Quick question, though, love your exodus blades, but do you have anything in the pipeline that has more blade height? Cheers!
@greencanopybushcraftsurviv6713 well, I do have some stuff coming with more blade height but it'll be awhile. I don't do these short blades because I think they are better for everything, I really do love blade height, but I keep doing specific knives that I feel need to be done and uh... they are all short haha
I purchased 3 knives from Survive in 2012, GSO 4 and a GSO 10 "Factory 2nds", and a neck knife. All were without any blems. Talked to Guy several times back then to have another build but he started just getting weird with his conversations. I just cut away from them, started dealing with Miller Brothers Blades in late 2012. Finding out later on that he was dealing this way, sold my Survive knives and moved on.
Miller bro's has sure come a long way! And I don't say that either in a good nor bad way- they have come a long way in aesthetics and wild builds but some myself would prefer the older, simpler, and more affordable Miller bro's... Why am I explaining myself? Haha They have come a long way.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors agreed, MBB was simple 5160 stuff in the beginning. Hard use geometry and H/T. I had a couple of their early ones 2012/13. They became unaffordable for me later on. Sold most of that early fixed blade items from those early 2010's makers a few years ago. MBB, Survive, Grayman, etc. I was pleasantly surprised at the amounts I was offered in 2016 when most everything sold🤷♂️
Hello Jacob, as I had recently changed my order from EDC-4 Magnacut to K890, I actually received my knife after a long wait. That was good luck but also a lot of stress for me beforehand. Above all, I feel sorry for everyone who suffered damage.
I guess I got lucky getting my edc 4 from the ready to ship list. I saw all the stories, so I was watching closely to make sure I got it within 2 months in case I had to dispute it with the credit card company.
This is such a bummer. I ordered so many knives from Guy. GSO 4's in M390, S7, and even a rare s90v one. I am shocked so many people got ripped off. I hope you guys are made whole because I can never support stealing.
Thanks for the info, I have called and emailed until blue in the face. I have contacted my bank and his bank told my bank too late to get my money back. I guess my next move is file a complaint to make myself feel better. I don’t expect to be refunded my 300 dollars nor do I expect to see my two Necker 2’s. At least we now know!!!
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors I was looking forward to getting a vendeta 7. Should have known not to order one after last time. I'll try to message him & see if I can get any blade to at least recoup some of my money. Won't be holding my breath, though.
Same here. Pre ordered a vendetta 7 in January. Such an awesome blade and i was so excited for it. But yeah, i contacted my bank the day after Guy dropped his video about survive closing. They sent my claim to their research department to verify so hopefully I'll get my money back. You should contact your bank and at least try!
I tried dozens of times to get guy to answer my emails and calls. He refused. I contacted a local police department near Survive and the very next day my knife shipped out. Guy is a p.o.s. My advice get a lawyer to start a class action suit so he can't sell anymore. He will file bankruptcy and you will never see a dime.
Thankfully, I do not do preorders, so I'm not out any money. I feel for those who did however. I ended up with 3 of their knives, and the quality is remarkable, but the quality is a non issue if you never get the knife you paid for.
I have 3 GSO knives and am one of those who pre-ordered a GSO 5.1 in MagnaCut after watching the DBK video. I commented on Jon's video as well: I realize that I wont get my knife or a refund. I like the GSO knives, but NOT the way he conducted his business.
@@Stoney_AKA_James yup ill never watch a DBK video again either. At best they are recklessly ignortant because they wanted the knives and the video. At worst they took money to help scam us.
Jacob, I think some form of criminal prosecution is coming. Guy mentioned he was going to consult an attorney on what to do. He might want to think about a criminal defense lawyer because I think he's going to need it before this is over. One doesn't lose over $1M in sales received and not have nothing come of it.
I was thinking this considering I had strongly advised him to get a lawyer on one of his TH-cam videos - Now makes sense why he was so adamant not to, as a lawyer would have cast transparency onto what was going on - they can't knowingly support fraudulent activity.
I sent him my blessings! Not filling those orders was criminal. Unfortunately when any states Attorney General steps in……….. your going to jail! You reap what you sew. Lesson learned for all of us getting ready start out.
The only people that where not sure of what was happening, were those out looking in. Those of us who paid for knives and have tried for years to get either our money or the knives we paid for, and have dealt with the excuses, lies, deflections, the dozens of emails and calls etc etc have always known he was a scum bag. If I had seen a video of Guy before I send him money for a knife, almost 4 years ago, I would not have spend a dime on him. One look at him and is obvious, you can’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
You say that and yet not even those who had bought his knives knew how many times he had sold each knife. You may have known he was a scum bag but do you know the history of his felony? The situation with Survive was obviously bad but it almost seems like a poorly written novel for it to be THIS bad. It's crazy.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Indeed!! I and many others, I imagine, are grateful that these details are finally out. Personally, even tho I lost around $300, I’m finally at peace. Guy needs that money more than I, truthfully I pity the guy.
@@TheMartialist weird to call that a spoiler when he said it was one of two options in his own video. Spoiler alert- it'll likely be something much worse.
Guy will be lucky if he avoids going to prison. Lots of people I know are very unhappy about this. Not me, because I was smart enough to buy Reiff survival knives and Architect survival knives instead (which are both better made than Survive knives) but Guy has definitely ruffled many feathers. This is why no one should ever "pre order" anything. Companies go out of business at the drop of a hat nowadays.
Nice goat. How's your daughter? I hope you and your wife are holding up well in your wonderful new world. In my dealings with SK!, the things that multiple employees told me about my order, an order placed years ago that I would never receive, clearly indicated that I was being scammed. Jon did make a difference. Unfortunately, the odds were stacked against him. It wouldn't surprise me if Guy did not make a full disclosure to Jon before taking his money. Always check with the Better Business Bureau before doing business with an unknown company.
I'm pissed because I never get my 5.2 magnacut pre-order. What's really unfortunate is that I did buy a small 3" magnacut that he had in stock, and, as much as he scammed out a lot of people and that more than pisses me off, that little 3" magnacut is incredible! I always dreamed of getting a 10 & 12. I still want one because he really did make very good knives with outrageously high standards, but he clearly is a scumbag 😠😡🤬😤 Clearly I'm late to this video, but I only just found out of this now because I was thinking, "Where the hell is my 5.2?!!! It's been like 18+ months!!!", and tried to go to the website to see what's going on. Damnit this sucks! This is so unfortunate because he made great knives but that doesn't make up for him being a narcissistic scumbag!!! It makes me want to throw away my little 3, but I think it's the best small edc sized fixed blade I've ever had and I have a lot. Damn this sucks! I mean the knife is so good and probably arrived the sharpest knife I've ever received and the magnacut heat treat is excellent. I'm 42 years old and I've seen too many people that had unlimited potential but they're enormous egos pissed away what they could have been.
It’s not so bad. I’ve only tried twice and both times I scored. I think they upped their available quantities. But I know what you mean, they’re tough to get when knife making isn’t their first job.
@AxionXIII sorry, that makes no sense, Carouthers performance knives is showing what's in the que, then they used to sell knives on their own site. if a consumer wants purchase of a product but I have to go thru a third party ? ZERO SENSE. Additionally people have to use "Blade Forums" of all the armpits of the universe. I'm disappointed in this.
Well they do preorders a couple of times a year, that anyone can jump into. I’m not sure what you mean by third party? Like the proxy request for the biweekly Friday sales? If you grab a spot in one of those sales, Jo from CPK reaches out to you directly to complete the order. I know they list knives once in awhile from time to time on their site, but the demand is also very high so it is what is is.
@@mikehoncho5430 hey yes, the "proxy" = Broker on Blade forums. I've been salivating for. Dek2 but mandatory use of a broker/proxy is a hard pass. I do love the finish and design, I just wish they would move away from Blade forums as it's solely way to purchase their knives.
It sucks. They made great knives and I have had a GSO 12 on order for almost 4 years. Now I'm out over 430 dollars and many others are as well. It's terrible what's happening, but all the loyal customers are losing out big time.
@mikepalma8083 thats the saddest part- his biggest fans and supporters are the ones he screwed the most- That is besides the small mom and pops shops he stole tens of thousands from.
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Absolutely, bro. They could have been one of the top small production companies. Their attention to fit and finish and designs were great and functional, but unfortunately bad business and or ego I'm not exactly sure what it is ruined them and left so many of us up the creek without a paddle when it comes to what we paid for and were promised. There has to be some sort of legal ramifications for what was done. I hear it was 1.3 million in pre orders, but I can't confirm that so I'm not 100% sure. But it definitely was a lot of folk. 😒
Oy, I really hoped he'd "survive" but after hearing this he is so far in the hole, it may as well be a black hole. I hoped he'd have found an angel investor, but who really knows his mental state, if he'd even be a reliable worker if someone could dig survive out of this hole. I too have two knives received and two I'll likely never see...ohwell, maybe these will become valuable collectors items!?
Somehow I always had in my back mind something like this could happen one day,I never ordered a SK just because of that,no matter how good the knives are I only will pay for a knife available in stock,it’s only a tool to enjoy not some kind of highly sought after rare item that you couldn’t pass on🤷🏻♂️ there’s so much other brands who makes high standard quality tools which you can buy immediately🤪
Sadly I’ve seen and dealt with Guy’s type to many times, I can’t say I’m surprised. Keep in mind, most everything they put over in the world is an illusion with a grain of truth. To think he doesn’t have a multitude of exit strategies planned would surprise me. It will be interesting to see how he pivots this time. This is usually the time I see them throwing their ideas against the wall, watch what reactions they get, to formulate how they can manipulate them.
@dlrmon1 could be! Man it seems to me the only exit strategy could be for Guy, not survive!- but he has had more time to think about it! I think if he is smart that he would have been saving all the cash he had gotten selling equipment and people's paid pre orders to escape to live on an island somewhere. Maybe he has a mil under his mattress.
Looks to me like he’s been selling things off for some time while continuing his facade. He’s not going to pay creditors, vendors or customers. He will burn all bridges. ANYONE that buys into his BS at this point he will take down. The more heat he gets, the quicker the walls will close in on him. I’m betting he skips the country this time..lol
I would have been happier to see their doors closed years ago, but I’m glad to see them finally going under. I feel bad for two groups of people: People who had money stolen by a dirtbag. People who believed what this dirtbag and supported the company for years.
@JohnDoe-zb7dz if he was as obsessive about selling people their knives instead of making them then selling them again to someone else for cash he might be in a different position.
Sad. Tragic. Avoidable. This is the ultimate morality play for the knife industry and anyone who goes into the business should pay attention. The name should be purchased and redeemed by someone capable of doing it. I am not holding my breath though. Sad.
Great video update Jacob. I unfortunately, was one of the many that got suckered into his pre-orders. I have three knives paid for that I will never see and have no idea how to get a refund. It’s very unfortunate, Guy put on a good look in all of his TH-cam videos and you would never know the behind-the-scenes info if Jon didn’t bring it forward. Sorry to everyone that got suckered into pre-orders and never received their knives, there’s a lot of us out there and hopefully Guy will get what’s coming his way.
Survive Knives is a pretty bad example on how supportive the „Knife Community“ is. Obviously this guy is full of shit but the Knife Community was forgiving and supporting because they suspected a very valuable product. Pretty sad. BTW those Knives look like ESEE Knives with different steel…..
I kinda got the idea a while back that he was a con man. It's ashame it sounds like he had a great product. If he's got the stock and the equipment, maybe he could try small batch customs at a higher price produced by him alone and try to set right the financial wrongs.Thats probably real wishful thinking though.
Yeah he could make small batch customs till the cows come home but he would never make his 1mil + deficit go away- Nor even the debts besides that. He couldn't stay on top of small batches even when he had 4 people working with him. It's awful.
Don’t forget the TH-camr shills who enabled this piece of trash to continue ripping people off for the better part of a decade. The same douchebags who gladly spouted out glowing reviews of Survive in exchange for a couple of free knives, or at least the delivery of knives they paid for AHEAD of 1000’s of other “non-influencers”. Yeah, this guy included…

Based on what Jon from HeavySet Tactical said, he got about 1000 preorders out that would’ve never gotten out without Jon’s help. At $286/knife on average, that’s $286,000 Jon was responsible for generating for Survive. If Jon was given complete control of Survive, he would’ve had this company out of the massive hole it was in within a year or 2.
I wish that is how that worked. Fwiw I don't think he generated that money for survive, I think that was money survive already had in pocket and that they never intended to deliver. I could be wrong, I don't have all the details. But I do think if Jon had gotten involved years earlier Survive would have a much different story right now.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors oooo that’s a good point, I didn’t think of that. Yeah they would’ve already had to receive that money from preorders sales in order for them to go out in the first place. Do you or anyone else know if attorney general claims/involvement become public record?
Those knives were already paid for years ago and all the money from those pre-orders was long gone, which is why Guy was dragging his feet to get them done. That's why pre orders are so sketchy for a business. You can end up in a situation where you have no money but you owe 4000 people a knife.
@@ThepreppersbunkeroutdoorsYou are correct. I spoke to Jon before this all collapsed. The knives he’s got pushed out we’re knives that had been paid for long ago people just waiting for the product. Everyone should be thankful to Jon for what did get done and also bring to light as fact all the rumors that have been floating but in established. I am one that had preorders in myself. I drove 1100 miles over there and showed up unannounced and got what I ordered. Jon was very forthright with what was going on.
When he started personally attacking Larrin Thomas and making conspiracy theories about him I knew he was a dirtbag. Crucible had to work out some problems with magnacut because it was a brand new steel and then Guy decided that it was all intentionally planned by Larrin himself. Guy is a total wack job.
Larrin isn't all god like either. Most of his book is a copy of another guy's book. There's a whole host of things people have issues with larrin. He's not a novice but there's a lot of other great people who are better.
Sucks but he made his bed... then he shat in it. Let him lay in it. The only ones i feel bad for are the victims. You should offer to buy his equipment and then not pay him 😂
So Guy was exactly that he appeared to be based on his actions, a person in over his head blaming everyone but himself. The reputable companies and people he dragged through the mud to create excuses were also exactly what they appeared to be: Reputable people and companied who being dragged through the mud by a grifter as an excuse for his failures to deliver. If someone tells you a conspiracy theory as an excuse, 99% chance they grifting you.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors for the first paragraph, I knew he was bullshitting his reasons for the delays because I work as a manufacturing engineer because those issues are routine when switching materials. I couldn’t have imagined however how badly Guy personally fucked up the manufacturing by only working half the time and making himself central to nearly every operation, that’s insane. For paragraph 3, The more obvious the truth (Guy took people’s money, and isn’t capable of making enough knives to fill orders) the bigger a lie Guy needed to tell as an excuse to cover his ass (the lie being: There is an industry wide cover-up for Magna-Cut and only he is telling the Truth, and Crucible is selling everyone defective materials). It’s a classic grift, you find someone your mark trusts less than you and blame them, then when experts call you out for lack of evidence, you claim that it’s a conspiracy.

It is. Like I explained in the video guy is taking the completed and paid for pre orders and selling them for cash. And very likely has been selling them as "seconds" all along. This isn't just a guy who is overwhelmed and or incompetent, it's malicious.
Its a pity to see them going under, but atleast there is clarity in it and nobody is going to be dragged under furthermore. I for my part do hope some reliable company will buy the intellectual property and produce some of the imo better designs like the 4.5, 5.1 or the larger 8, 10 and 12, just not with Guy involved on the business side of things. I do however understand your doubts especially concerning the bad reputation that would go along with it and definitely wont put my hopes in any oems. As far as i can see, theres now a bit of a gap in the market for big, high quality production choppers in modern steels; with Survive! gone theres not really much left except for cold steel and the Architect 8. Any chance you're about to release an exodus 10 or 12? Anyways, thanks for the video and sharing your insight, best wishes!

@@tberkoffWell said. Everything else is just unnecessary drama. This isn't the first time and it won't be the last.

Sadly in this life if it involves money there is a chance to get taken advantage of.

Saying on their website that "we will absolutely not compromise our quality standards" then turning right around and selling factory "2nds" was infuriating to see.
Especially considering that most weren't factory seconds but actually just paid for knives that they wanted to be paid for again-
Not to mention they say knives for life or whatever but if you ever need warranty work your SOL lol
Irony being that he was thus fraudulently selling the same knife twice - the first pre-order never receiving anything. The first pre-order placement should have been offered the 'second' along with a partial refund.

Plus, Heavyset Tactical saidhe would leave the shop several times a day to get some “fresh air”! Getting a hit it sounds like!
Here’s my question,
If this has been going on for a decade, why is it just now coming to light?
Man that's a bummer. It's amazing what Guy was able to get away with.

Sadly he probably can't give you your 12 blank because if he even has it he wants to finish your paid order and resell it to someone else.
Agreed

@greencanopybushcraftsurviv6713 well, I do have some stuff coming with more blade height but it'll be awhile. @mikepalma8083 thats the saddest part- his biggest fans and supporters are the ones he screwed the most-
That is besides the small mom and pops shops he stole tens of thousands from.
Right there with you bud ordered my GSO 12 in December of 2015 was lied to a dozen times that my knife was being finished up.
@rawdog5506 is always an update with no real answers except BS. Really sorry, man. You know the pain even more than me. 2015 😳

I think there will be some value in the knives down the road for sure.

Sad. Tragic. Avoidable. This is the ultimate morality play for the knife industry and anyone who goes into the business should pay attention. The name should be purchased and redeemed by someone capable of doing it. I am not holding my breath though. Sad.
What is Guy full name?
Sieferd or something. Idk his middle name off the top of my head.
Only hooked me for 180.00.

I kinda got the idea a while back that he was a con man. It's ashame it sounds like he had a great product. If he's got the stock and the equipment, maybe he could try small batch customs at a higher price produced by him alone and try to set right the financial wrongs.Thats probably real wishful thinking though.
Yeah he could make small batch customs till the cows come home but he would never make his 1mil + deficit go away-
Nor even the debts besides that.
He couldn't stay on top of small batches even when he had 4 people working with him.
It's awful.
@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Definitely sounds like it.
Unfortunately, most credit cards have a limit of 60-90 days to file claims and if this is the case in your preorder fraud, I encourage every one that was ripped of by Guy Seiferd at Survive to at minimum contact the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General online and www.attorneygeneral.gov › Submit a Complaint - PA Office of Attorney General 717-787-3391. Isn't it ironic to say in the same comment that influencers are chewing up the views AND that nobody wants to hear it?

@christopherlarson7579 I'm not sure but I am not certainly curious!
@@tacticalcenter8658 that doesn’t make guy’s schizo conspiracy theories true, lol.

Sucks but he made his bed... then he shat in it. Let him lay in it. The only ones i feel bad for are the victims.
You should offer to buy his equipment and then not pay him 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is literal gold
So Guy was exactly that he appeared to be based on his actions, a person in over his head blaming everyone but himself.
The reputable companies and people he dragged through the mud to create excuses were also exactly what they appeared to be: Reputable people and companied who being dragged through the mud by a grifter as an excuse for his failures to deliver.
If someone tells you a conspiracy theory as an excuse, 99% chance they grifting you.
First paragraph- it's way worse that that.
Second- yes
Third... 🤔🤷♂️
@@nandayane what I'm saying is that yes Guy was in over his head but it wasn't just that- there I believe was malicious intend and it looks like stealing and making plans to run out of country have been a re occurring theme in Guy's life.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors In past workplaces I’ve seen directors joke about lying to their customer’s faces, what you are describing even worse than even I could have imagined for Survive knives.
