the worst thing about all this shit is that she lost her entire childhood because her mother paralyzed her by pretending that her daughter was sick, and what the court did to her after literal SELF-DEFENSE is shitty, in my opinion they should acquit her and give her full psychiatric and therapeutic treatment support, not putting her in prison for another 10 years when she was imprisoned in her own home for 18 years of her life, the court took away half of her life because she defended herself and was fed up with the abuse.

The thing is self defense is typically legally permissible, but retaliation is not. Even Gypsy Rose said in an interview from prison that her mother didn’t deserve to die she deserved to be where she was (in prison). We can all agree that what her mother did was horrible. Her mother needed psychiatric help. Gypsy was and still is very intelligent and has a manipulative side. Gypsy got time because she orchestrated the murder to happen and did so while her mother was asleep vs orchestrating an escape to the authorities. Also, for those that didn’t see her interrogation, Gypsy lied to the police and acted like she didn’t know her mother was murdered and kept denying she had anything to do with it or any knowledge of it. She gasped and asked did she commit suicide. Those things didn’t help her case. We have to stop running with narratives and research things for ourselves in totality.

I truly believe that her mom was capable of anything if that meant she could go on with the lie, even leaving gypsy blind or with no legs. She was only defending herself, when you're kidnapped, you will do anything to self defense, why are people acting as if this was different than those cases? her mom lied to the doctors, gypsy knew that Ifshe told the police her mom would get away with it
Edit: after discussion in the comments I came to the realization that gypsy was also manipulative and smart enough to get her ways out, I think she is a victim but that doesn't mean the bad things she has done are now excused, they can be explained by her background its still not ok and I think and hope that she paid for it and somehow learned, I do believe her ex boyfriend was treated in a unjust way and probably should be getting mental help cause his case is very serious, he was sick

Munchausen by proxy is literal child abuse. Her mother willingly let her child get hurt and experimented on constantly to feed into her own selfish nature. There have been cases of MBP where the kids have had things amputated or else been forcibly paralyzed.

Erm, her mother was abusive and yes she was insane. However, it is still a crime to get your boyfriend to stab your mother countless times. Of course she was desperate but that doesn't negate the crime nor the responsibility. She was clever enough to realise getting someone else to actually physically kill her mum would mean she'd get out of jail sooner, and she was also clever enough to manipulate and lie to him and then turn against him in court. It's not black and white, good and bad. Everyone right now has to make people either a hero or a villain, and life generally isn't like that. Nor are humans. Both her and her mum committed crimes. They are both culpable. Releasing her while the guy serves a life sentence is unjust in my opinion.

I'm amazed at how well spoken and adjusted she is despite having to grow into an adult and adulting in prison because of how sheltered she was.
Prisons have education resources… and a bunch of other things that can help with keeping prisoners busy.
She did not grow up in prison, she's 32 and was well into her 20s when she was convicted

The horrible part is because she was supposed to act like a mentally incompetent person, her mom never gave her a proper education. She never had an opportunity to go to college or to get her drivers license. The mom was so sick! She wasn’t allowed to run and play with friends. Gypsy did manipulate her boyfriend into killing her mom, and then when she was questioned she was a wonderful liar and threw him under the bus to save herself. Sadly, I just don’t think you can come back from that type of abuse, she definitely shouldn’t be treated as a celebrity either.
