Her distinctive walk and well-established brand are widely recognized as staples in the modeling world (and now pop culture). Is that not the definition of an icon? You don’t have to like her or agree with her actions to recognize that Naomi is, and will remain, an icon.
@@samin9648ah okay okay. Her candor and cutthroat personality are closely associated with her image and are part of the reasons some people like her. While I personally think there is a better and more peaceful way to express yourself, Naomi’s approach adds to her notoriety. It’s difficult to refer to her as an icon without needing to separate her talent from her attitude :/ (hope that makes sense, it’s like 5am while I’m writing this 💀)
Naomi will always be iconic. She worked hard to get to where she was and that took a lot of initiative and drive on her part, so of course she isn't going to settle for less from the people who will follow in her footsteps.
She's critiquing their work and telling them what they need to do to make it to the top of the competition. Anyone who works in a competitive industry knows that nobody cares about your feelings. They want people who make them money. Sales is the name of the game. If you win, you stay and survive for another day. Real life doesn't lend a hand to all thinhs talk of feelings. She had times when she encouraged and inspired them and times when she was hard on them. She did her job.
@@atty7697 She was not critiquing them. Critique is saying 12 3 is wrong because of xyz. Naomi is a good model but a terrible mentor. She is too full of herself and bullies too much.
Naomi even admitted on a talk show that she has issues with short temper and anger management. Let's be honest , imagine Naomi as our boss or lead , none of us would want to deal with that attitude. Let's not glorify this. Instead let's take inspiration from people who actually know how to behave and stay calm .
Unlike ANTM that uses dramatic/unrealistic challenges, The Face's challenges use actual/real situations that models going to experience in their career. They are hard simply because the models here are not experienced enough meanwhile ANTM's challenges are hard because they are basically made to be hard. On 6:22, the girl complained about the dress, but Naomi basically told her to stop whining and endure it. Not for the purpose of being "mean" and boost the rating of the show, but it's simply because when you are modelling, the clothes for runways/photoshoots are not going to specifically tailored to truly fit a model's proportions. the models still have to wear it regardless. Naomi's just giving them tough love. She showed appreciation when the models have done something successfully, and if they have not then she's going to coach them better.
Well, I do remember from watching the show that the dress was actually hurting the model and making her bleed. I don't think it's okay to work under those circumstances and sending the message that models should stop "whining" is not okay. All women deserve to be treated well in their jobs and they're often dismissed because they should endure it because that's how it is? With that sort of mentality we'd still be in the Middle Ages.
Well then, trust me, nobody is going to hire someone who is whining. Just endure it. Time is money. Client is always on strict schedule so no time for BS.
hard agree specially when yk the industry talks behind the scenes which is why naomi's so strict on them not talking bad about the dress bc if it goes around that you're difficult to work with then your career might be over just like that. keep it classy and zip it when you're on the job.
Modelling industry has a mold that it forces everyone to fit in, only cuz people PLAY by the mold. If more people NORMALIZED, not having to forcibly wear sh*t that BLEEDS and WOUNDS them, at some point the industry HAS to CAVE IN. When we go around people, keep bending over 24/7, people one by will shove it in against your wishes. It's how life is. Don't want that? want your opinion and pain validated and treated more like a HUMAN modelling things and not a THING being MODELLED out? Gotta stand up straight from time to time and say f*ck this sh*t, I won't bend over.
my mother worked at mugler for about 11 years until like 1998-1999 and as a consequence she has met naomi campbell. i asked her about how she was like and she told me that she was a pest. naomi was maybe about 17-18 at the time and one time she even made one of mugler’s seamstresses cry because the poor woman accidentally had stung her with a needle while making adjustments on her dress; she like slapped her hand and said something mean to her. remember it was during the whole BOOM of the haute couture industry during like the 80’s 90´s and the clothes were custom. working in that field was extremely exhausting and seamstresses would often have very little sleep with all of the work they had. so just imagine that poor women getting yelled at for a little mistake, anyone would have a breakdown. apparently she would often throw fits when something didn’t go her way. anyway little funny story ✨✨i don’t have anything against her but there’s always *that* thought about her yk.
I love coco for that reason, she might be the boring 2000s white model, but she is classy and is moving forward, not obsessed with eternal yourh and the most important thing: she’s not faking a tough character to overcome and cope with her depression and loneliness, Naomi seems to have such a paranoia for losing her influence in the fashion industry just like an alcoholic to lose their booze

That being said, I have seen several TH-cam videos bringing down America’s next top model for the toxicity and the bullying. Yet Naomi does it and everyone just makes funny remarks and memes? I just need to know where the line is drawn.
for me, I would say Naomi is more honest with herself and the others and not trying to play in good cop /bad cop, Tyra is a bit hypocritical to me, she can smile and say and do very bad things, pretending to be nice. Plus ANTM had some weird and even dangerous tasks for girls, which wouldn't be in real life, and they like: "why are you so stressed? I would do it in a heartbeat" except they almost never actually did it, even as an example. I would say, small shoes is very common problem for shows, so doing your job in non-comfortable shoes is quite useful skill in my opinion, unlike drowning in the water for 4 minutes
@@aliya6158 I can agree with half of that. I don’t know how Tyra or Naomi are personally, if what they portray on their shows is different. I think Naomi is just more level headed where Tyra is just more emotionally expressive. Either show is like Master chef or great British bake off. That is a competition and I have been thrown under the bus many many many times because I didn't get it, Naomi is just honest and real, people like fakery.

@@eddyalonsomoramorales6069you're so real for that. There's a difference between being genuinely worried for someone and acting like a bully about it. Kill them? like, I get it's a competition but it's okay to be civil 😂

Naomi is giving more Anna Wintour than Anna Wintour
Naomi always delivers. What an icon✨
🙄
I don't see disrespecting people Iconic 🤔
@@samin9648 while I don’t agree with such vicious behavior in situations where it is unwarranted, Naomi has undeniably played a pivotal role in the fashion industry. Her distinctive walk and well-established brand are widely recognized as staples in the modeling world (and now pop culture). Is that not the definition of an icon? You don’t have to like her or agree with her actions to recognize that Naomi is, and will remain, an icon.
@@astronomari i know but this video was about her behavior not her modeling talent(which of course her talent is undeniable)
An icon with a history of assaulting people. But who cares.. girlboss slay
@@bibimbap5917men get away with worse boyboss slay i guess 😂😂
@@bibimbap5917Exactly my thoughts. Yes she worked hard but tf you think these girls are tryna do now??? 😭

@@leonorglezdelcampo7299she didn't bleed that's a lie
I love her tough love and honesty
She builds them up and not hinders their confidence .
I feel like as a mentor she wasn’t even teaching/mentoring, she was just nagging and nitpicking her team which lowered their motivation and morale.
my mother worked at mugler for about 11 years until like 1998-1999 and as a consequence she has met naomi campbell. i asked her about how she was like and she told me that she was a pest. naomi was maybe about 17-18 at the time and one time she even made one of mugler’s seamstresses cry because the poor woman accidentally had stung her with a needle while making adjustments on her dress; she like slapped her hand and said something mean to her. remember it was during the whole BOOM of the haute couture industry during like the 80’s 90´s and the clothes were custom. working in that field was extremely exhausting and seamstresses would often have very little sleep with all of the work they had. so just imagine that poor women getting yelled at for a little mistake, anyone would have a breakdown. apparently she would often throw fits when something didn’t go her way. anyway little funny story ✨✨i don’t have anything against her but there’s always *that* thought about her yk.
She should have slap her hand too
Doesn't surprise me, I believe you... And OMG Sooo cool that your mommy worked at Mugler. He is my favorite. Love him. She /you must be so happy, there must be many stories too... ❤

@@Sur_Ram Well she acted accordingly to what she saw, it's ridiculous that she was boohooing just because the shoes were too small. You just don't know anything about modeling industry, so I'm not surprised people react this way to Naomi
This is the first time in the world there has been so many stupid people who are fed junk via social media and the internet every day, and most of them are not only stupid but also cowards who would never have the strength to stand up to a bully, and usually side with them. The ultimate mean girl
so mad we didn't get more seasons of this show, it had its hiccups but I appreciated Naomi's sink-or-swim attitude.
So Tyra banks does it and the whole crew is called out, but Naomi does it and it’s just shade and apparently funny? Now I have had shoes to small and smiled through the pain with every step I took.
These are amateurs, being propelled at the speed of slight on reality tv to be judged by experts in their respective fields. The challenges will be difficult and extreme, but that’s serves three functions. Weeds out the strongest from those that can’t handle pressure. Gives serious experience in challenges in scenarios that won’t happen, but have the benefit to say “if they can handle that. They can handle anything.” It of course gives good entertainment to those whom invest in that type of media.
Honestly she was always very supportive and pushed her girls. She was a great mentor imo
exactlyy, you could see the frustration in her face every time one of her girls got eliminated and that’s because she wants them all of them too succeed. people in these comments are calling her mean but she’s just giving them tough love that’s all.
