The Cloisters was built on an 80 acre expanse of open land and sand dunes bordering the ocean.
It was completed in 1989 and consists of 120 luxury homes of varying architectural styles with square footage ranging from 1,900 to over 3,400 square feet.
The Cloisters is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Morro Bay, known for its sweeping ocean, dune, and Morro Rock views.

This is in accordance with guidelines set by the Coastal Commission to preserve the watershed and wetland area. The maintained wetland area is home to a wide variety of birds and small fish.
