Sir, the Telugu drama troupe you referred to was I think run by Shri Dharmavaram Ramakrishnamacharyulu and his nephew Bellary Raghava. Shri Dharmavaram Ramakrishnamacharyulu is the grandfather of my father in law and I have heard my father in law speak highly of Shri Pammal Sambandam Mudaliar

Superb history of Tamil stage
I hail from Madurai district and I have memories of Childhood days where all temple festivals used to have dramas that run till morning 5 AM, this is not unusual. These days such temple festivals have events like dance to film songs as popular which goes on till 2 AM.
