If this becomes a full series, i think Dungeons and dragons will be to castle what Lone Ranger was to western or Pirates of the Caribbean to pirates. It’s a way to bring a theme back to life by tying it to a IP, so D&D fans get drawn into a theme, and Lego castle fans with 0 attachment to D&D will get a good set with some insane minifigure customisation!
Some cheaper sets would be appreciated as I can't afford 350 on a lego set in these times. Being able to pick one or two smaller sets I really want out of a 25.- 50.- 75.- 100.-ish priced set line would be preferable to me.
I could be wrong but I believe the black droplet cave room holds another slime creature called Black Pudding. It’s in the same family as the Gelatinous Cube but way more dangerous.
In the tower there looks to be a shrine (the build with the 5 gold dragon heads) to the dragon queen Tiamat. There is also a sticker on the tree that’s hidden beneath some leaf pieces to show that it’s actually a living “awakened tree” On the top floor of the inn, there is a mimic chest, but the second build actually looks to be a mimic bed!
DAY ONE BUY!! By far, my most anticipated set since it was first announced on the Lego Ideas website. This is the set of the year, hands down. What a gorgeous set!
Idk man the year have just started and yes i agree this set looks breathtaking but the price is such a big turn down that most lego and DnD fans can only look at it through reviews without actually be able to touch it at all 😢
@@thaihungphan7255 the price is pretty large, I have a lego budget I set aside for the year, and I’ve been looking forward for this set for a long time
There's so much in this set and it's going over SO many peoples' heads. There's way too many people whining that it's "boring" (and ignoring how much is actually there)
Man that's crazy, with the modularity they could've released these as smaller sets that combine into the main model, that way I could've also cherry picked one or two of the combiner sets that I'd really want instead of missing out on the entire thing because their ain't no way I can drop 360 on lego in these times.
I’m holding on this until there’s official confirmation of the rumored DnD CMF series. That may be a while from now, but if true, those two together would be great for customization to do a small one-shot game with the set.
I love the set (all the things you mentioned are really nice - especially the doubled up heads and skin-less torso prints), but I really hate the price / mimic GWP. I am not a huge DnD fan, but I do dabble here and there, and the campaign booklet should have been inside the box (that would have made me like the price more). Either way, it's a must buy for any castle fan, and the minifigs. can't wait to see if they drop them on PAB. You should also take a look at the rumored, looks to good to be true, but if it's not lego really don't know what they're doing - so it's likely to be real- CMF leak. The things there are SO GOOD - same as here, skinless torsos, great accessories and the best of all, there is ONE elf with yellow head and ear/hair combo
2:11 the dual sided cap is reflective and is put on one of the skeletons because it’s a resurrected wizard. The dragon does have eyes but they are protected under the horn ridge on the head.
I think they didn't include the printed D&D adventure/campaign book because WOTC/Hasbro wants to drive traffic to DnDBeyond website. Makes total sense from a corporate standpoint.
True, but is it being sold on their site? From what i've heard it will be available from lego.com under the "insider rewards" section. I could be mistaken tho
So I own this set. By far my favorite Lego set and I have too many to count. There are so many hidden details in this set that can easily be missed by those who are not up to speed with D&D. The GWP mimic chest was one of my favorite things. I was able to use it as a dice box as we played through the campaign. 10/10 set. With the other castle sets I have, making a longer campaign in the future is the current plan once the new D&D mini figs arrive (I ordered 2 sleeves so hopefully I get at least one of each and some duplicates of the cool ones).
I like how the inn looks very similar to the medieval blacksmith so if you were making a medieval city you can put those two together and they would blend in
this is an amazing set but sadly i think this is a one time offer and wont have a whole theme but i really wish it did because my current lego castle world is starving for more stuff
There's been a real emphasis on medieval themed sets from both Lego and Bricklink this past few months. I wonder why, and how long they will keep it going. Certainly for DnD there is a lot of potential to use Lego for home made maps to set up on your tabletop.
I'm hoping to see a lot of these parts show up on PAB. Idk how they handle printed pieces with licensed products that aren't super identifiable, but the dual molded hobbit legs from rivendell ended up on PAB so we can hope!
I have noticed before that LEGO minifigures fit on a typical DnD grid map. Which is nice, people can build their characters without buying a mini, assuming they have enough LEGO. However, LEGO is customizable and reusable. This set gives us a few more DnD specific pieces.
As a MOC builder, I do not really care to get the set as I already have most of the parts already. But I'm definitely looking forward to the minifigure selection, both in this set and the CMF line that is supposed to come out!
For the dragon It’s definitely the angle in some screen shot of the dnd manual when the dragon is tilted up you can see a yellow dot ( I checked cause no eye feel strange to me )
So I’m a huge Fan of custom MiniFigs and do my Castle, DnD stuff in Yellow Head. So happy that the torso’s don’t show flesh colors. This set seems like a solid A. Picking it up for sure. Day one Mimic Set is the main Reason I’m buying April 1st.
I'm disappointed in the mimic builds as they look overly simplistic despite the new eye side printed 1x1 plates. I would've preferred a more intricate brick built mimic instead of using the dedicated treasure chest mold with stuff tacked on to them for the eyes and teeth. Luckily I made a minifigure scale MOC mimic that can disguise itself as a treasure chest, and looks gnarly in beast mode. The gelatinous cube is also way too small. How can we expect it to swallow up and digest adventurers whole being so tiny? Again, I made a MOC jelly box that can open up and hold one or two minifigures inside. The owlbear and displacer beast are serviceable but will be subbed in as the baby cubs for my larger MOC owlbear and displacer beast, lol. The beholder looks much better than I was expecting despite its small size. The building techniques they used are great to get across the various eyes and stalks. The red dragon is much more iconic for D&D and representative of the brand than the original green one (it was an homage to the Lego Castle and Kingdom green dragon mold with the red wings and yellow underbelly, and it didn't really resemble any of the classic D&D chromatic dragons). I like that Lego used Ninjago dragon building techniques for it as it looks quite sturdy to hold up against play and display plus the cloth wings are fantastic. The seeming lack of eyes does seem like a miss though but I'll see if I can add some of the reptilian printed ones on yellow 1x1 round tiles from the recent DreamZzz sets. Looking forward to having it square off against my MOC black dragon! I like that Lego expects fans to mix and match the minifigure parts and accessories to create their own custom characters, which is true to the RPG foundation of D&D. The environmental and structural builds of this set seem kinda watered down from the original but I get that Lego had to keep to a specific price point and parts budget. The color choices do make it stand out more, and I kinda dig that they tried to make the tree into a forest spirit or treant. Ditto with the little DreamZzz molded body mushroom people aka myconids. I'll be picking up this set on day one since the Mimic dice box GWP sweetens the deal. I'll have to see if I have enough VIP points to get the D&D art guide book as well.
As someone who's been combining Lego and D&D for decades this is very exciting. Two of my favourite things coming togeyher. It's just a shame it's so expensive. They could easily have made this modular structure as a series of small vignettes each priced more sensibly.
I’m not a D&D guy, however I do like this build for castle. I’ll most likely use those figs as Mercenaries and a red dragon knight. I like the purple and white cape as well I’ll probably give it to a custom tax collector enforcer

Lego should release "Make your own DnD party" set with different customization option for figurines that people would be able to use in their games.
Maybe with some monsters and stuff too.

They should make a cmf but you can customise them all so if you don’t like characters from the set, you have these other ones
