I first watched this video as a kid in 2007. 16 years later, I've grown up and have kids of my own. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or really stressed, I watch this video, and I'm instantly transported to my childhood to simpler times. 🌙 If you're reading this, just know that you matter and you are loved! And even when you feel like you can't go on another day, the sun will rise in the morning to prove you wrong. Take care of yourself and give life a chance to make you smile. 🖤
Like a lot of people below, I found this video 6-7 years ago. And through all those years, it's stayed with me. Now every time I hear Mae's song come on shuffle, I think back to watching 5 cm/s - I am 12 years old, I am sitting in my old room, thinking about the girl I loved. This amv still connects the present me to the old me and for that I want to thank you, Koop, for reminding me of who I was.
It's such a shame these videos got taken down and their real views and timeframe has been lost. However thanks for this. I loved this one and skittles.
It's strange how something so small like an amv can bridge the years and bring so many people together. Just like the people who commented below, I remember watching this in middle school and wiping away some stray tears. Now, in college, I find myself doing the same thing. Thanks for making amvs, Koop.
You know I watched this amv more than 10 years ago, and it really stuck with me, it took me a long time to understand Koop's message, you have to move on, holding on isn't always the answer. A harsh lesson. Thanks for this wondrous work man, it really is a timeless piece. Took me a long time to learn to sing this song without crying haha
i used to watch this video on repeat for an hour or more back when it was a new upload. this one introduced me to both the anime and song, and i often found myself singing "i'll be fine" to myself and remembering the visual of the rocket launching into the sky when i needed the assurance. all your videos are so moving and iconic and i still remember them over a decade later. your editing and arrangement was cutting edge for its time, and still today they hold up. even though they aren't quick-cut with high-energy music and detailed visual manipulations, they are as powerful as modern amvs.
I rarely comment on videos, but for this I'm making an exception. I first watched this in the summer of 2007, when TH-cam was a VERY different place than it is today. It was the summer of the first Transformers film, the third Pirates Of The Caribbean film, the Wii wasn't even a year old yet, people were still mainly using flip phones and other variations, Myspace was still very active, Gaia Online/Maple Story/etc weren't dead, Bush was still in office, there were still only two Smash Bros games, the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn't even exist yet, heck, The Dark Knight was barely a teaser trailer. So much has changed and transpired since then, in all of our lives. Shinkai's Your Name got a successful theatrical US release, which caught the attention of J.J. Abrams. If I had been given a brief glimpse of the future back in 2007, I hardly would've believed it. I'm sure in another 10 years, I'll be saying the very same thing.
When I was about 13, my long distance boyfriend sent me this video. Sadly, we broke up after a few years because he couldn’t handle the long distance. We still loved each other but decided to part ways. To this day, this is still my favorite song. I come back to this video all the time and it still has a special place in my heart.
Just rewatched this recently. It is really a great testament of how complicated editing can be. The timing on this one is just perfect, making it still good all these years later. :>
The feelings are mutual man. I remember when he first uploaded this vid. I use to replay the shit out of this song. So much memories flowing right now. The feels right now
Just opened Mae on Spotify today. Mae was a part of my teen years that I had forgotten about until I saw one of their songs again for the first time on Spotify. And I remembered this vid. So thankful this is still here.
It´s 2020, watched this AMV many years ago, still makes me cry, when I remember the song or the anime 5 cm per second. It´s amazing, how this AMV makes me cry everytime.
I am crying happy tears! I watched this video way way wayyyy back when I was in middle school. I am now 26. I started watching an anime that reminded me of this anime and then deep in the cobwebs of my brain I remembered this video with mae's song that I used to listen to all the time and get all the feels. I scoured my old account to find this video but with no luck. I couldn't remember the anime's name or what song it was but after many hours of snooping through video after video I finally found it! I am so glad it is still here. This was my favorite video and song. I used to listen to it every time something meaningful would happen in my life. Thank you so much for making it!
Thank you so much for putting this back up. This is the most moving music video I've ever seen. Simply beautiful. I've missed this every time I listen to Awakening.
Watching in 2020. I remember watching you back in my highschool days, over a decade ago. Always loved your amvs Koopiskeva! Could never choose which was my favorite, Momentum or Twilight. Your style still inspires me in my own amvs even to this day. Thank you so much!
Im like everyone else. Found this video years ago. So happy to come across it again. It will go into my library of all time favorites. Thank you for being so great at making AMVs. I really must admit, your editing inspired me to become my best
This remains my favorite AMV. This film really affected me because I was Takaki in so many ways. And this amv and song really captures the essence of this story. Perfect music selection and brilliantly edited.
the first time I watched this was so long ago, I can't even remember it. I can't believe I still remember this amv in particular over the years. I always come back to rewatch it every now and then. thanks for this amv :)
12 years ago for me now, freshman year of high school. Pulled my PSP out of storage and found this among a bunch of other songs. Crazy how hearing this instantly brought me back. Thanks for making this.
I always crieed to this back in the day, everytime I feel sad I just put this on. I just remembered this today since I'm getting back to watching anime again.
to think I first watched this anime almost a decade ago, and this amv not long after, both visually and musically exquisite in their own way. even after all this time, both are one of the most beautifully made videos I've even seen. they stir raw emotion, even now at 33 years old, and take you back you a time in your life when you felt most vulnerable to your emotions. even after all this time..... too few animes have accomplished this in my lifetime
miss this amv so much. best friend showed it to me right before I left Japan for America...damn made me cry my eyes out then, made me smile and cry seeing it again after 6 years.
Saw this way back in 07, still one of the best AMV's I've ever seen. It's so emotional that for a long time I couldn't sing the song out loud without getting choked up!
Koop - teach me your ways! Your Skittles got me into the whole AMV scene.. now I'm an avid collector AMVs and in the process of learning myself. Thanks to you I now have over 5 TB of AMVs in my collection.. damn you! :)
After watching this video and bawling my eyes out years ago, I watched 5cm per Second while in a long distance relationship and bought this song. Thank you for getting me through hard times and for creating such beautiful videos!
To think I saw this the first time I entered college in the Philippines after having lived in the US for so long. Still gives me intense melancholy and nostalgia.
Koop these videos used to have my editing class in awe man. College so long ago but memories make it seem like a few weeks ago 😅 Thanks for these man, your work helped push me through college.
This was so amazing! So beautifully edited! It gave such a sensation of emotions and connection, telling a well done outline of the movie itself yet without giving anything truly away for those have haven't watched it yet (such as myself). This was executed so spectacularly! I applaud you on your amazing skills to create such a wonderful video!
This is the best AMV on youtube, and I've watched them for years. I keep coming back/linking to it - because of song choice, timing, everything. Had this anime been more popular, this AMV would be at the very top.
I think I may have regularly checked youtube for this video for years trying to find this video again. I was really depressed that I couldn't find it but it's up again! This AMV is probably what got me into watching so many different things including 5 cm per second itself. This is probably one of the most powerful things I've ever seen. I makes me both sad and unbelievably happy at the same time. One of my best days just got even better. Thank you for reuploading this. Thank you so much.
College days in a cold room, with nothing but bittersweet memories. To go back to simpler times, if only for a while, when all you had on your mind was a girl and the need for a perfect moment.
This is amazing, and a miracle that i found it again after it was taken down. truly this a work of art that most can appreciate. Even without knowing the story behind 5cm per second one easily understand the story behind this amv.
I remember downloading this after you released it... I actually find it hard to watch after all these years. It reminds me of how much can change. You've created something really emotionally resonant; you should be proud.

This was the highest rated amv on animemusicvideos for at least 2 years between 2008 and 2010.
