I'm just lucky I have worked with Vietnamese Refugees in Palawan. I worked as a nurse on UNHCR Hospital. Their stories were heartbreaking. War is really hard it ruin people's lives.

Despite its colonial rule over the Philippines. We remained neutral during its civil war. And when Spanish dictator Francisco Franco rose to power, hundreds of thousands of Spanish People against his rule, fled to other countries including its former colonies: the Philippines, Mexico & Dominican Republic.

I met a Vietnamese in California and asked me if I’m a Filipino and I said yes and he gave me a smile and shook my hand. He told me when he and his family escaped Vietnam and ended up in Palawan and Pinoys just let them in and cared for them as long as they needed. Proud to be a Pinoy.

I was still a boy at young age when i witnessed some relief goods like clothings, etc and also magazines where i saw one name ' Ivan Ogaref that was from russia perhaps these maybe a token of gratitude from russia for the hospitality and generousity of our fellow countrymen, I still remember that but i never read anything in our book of history, WHY, who did the manipulations?

The Vietnamese are very generous and thoughtful. The mother of a friend who was a teacher in the refugee camp in Palawan in the 80's during the time of the boat people, was never forgotten by her elementary students. She taught them English. These young Vietnamese kids were distributed around the world and became very succesful now. This teacher was rewarded by her former students with an all expense trip to Malaysia and given a substantial reward.

I remember reading this in a book, not a school textbook, it is a world history book, it mentions what happened during WW1 when the Russian Empire falls, and a lot of russians fled their country. I also remember reading that Manuel L. Quezon allowed the Jews from Europe to enter The Philippines to escape the evil Nazis, and their psychopatic leader, the refugees first entered back in 1937.

It was way back my 2nd year college years when our professor have introduced this story of the White Russian Refugee to our class. I could still remember the documentary shown to us how these russian refugee have described the island of Tobabao as beautiful as paradise.😍😍

The first refugees were the Jewish refugees from Europe at the start of the 2nd WW in Europe.

I've watched a lot of documentaries on TH-cam and doing some research to enlighten myself about our history, and there's a lot of untold stories from our history that need to be told, not just for us but for our future generations.
Our history remains in the cioset unless our historians do their mandate. Till now they are in a deep slumber
