A lot can be concluded from this, but what resonates the most is be careful who you marry. Life brings both beautiful and ugly things, we can't be sure that we won't run into misfortune and exploiters in life, but everything is easier or incredibly easy to bear if you have a strong woman behind you who supports and respects you both in good and in bad.
I’m in a different field (I’m a retired respiratory therapist), but it is true that experience and attention to detail can make anything look easy. So easy, that sometimes others (in my case, nurses) think they could do my job. They quickly found out the reason it looked so easy, was because I knew EXACTLY what I was doing and when to do it. Even other respiratory therapists thought they could do what I did (work in the ICU) but also found out that it wasn’t as easy as it looked. Thankfully, I never had a boss come in an give me a hard time because I made it look so easy.

Some people don't know how t handle pressure. Some get greedy as they become more successful. The step from hunger to greed is called success. Glad he made amends with you. You are good at your profession and love it. Same with me with Information Technology and I've loved every day of my 43 years working in it.
So many times, employers only see the end result of all the work you do. They see somebody just sitting there running a machine that's turning out quality parts hand over fist. What they don't see is all the work that goes into programming these machines, tweaking tool offsets, cutting out unnecessary movements, changing air cut speeds, all the things that make a program run at peak efficiency. Sometimes they get complacent in their thinking and forget who got them where they are. I call it biting the hand that feeds you. I ran CNC but I programmed welding robots and PLC machinery. I've had it happen to me. So I get where your coming from Titan.👍
It happens when stakeholders like accountants and lawyers are in charge of a company. They want every dime they can get their hands on. This story is analogous to football when Jimmy Johnson walked away the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones hasn’t been able to build a team since.

It takes a special person to understand that a shop is successful when all departments are appreciated in that a product(s) meets quality coming and going through each phase.
I can totally relate to your experience! I've had business partners that I thought would honor our agreements and a gentleman's handshake, but greed can change a person. My knowledge is in specialty coatings, but I'm seriously thinking of getting into machining and starting my own business. Going solo this time!
I was in this exact same situation. Left a six figure aerospace engineering job to be manager at a machine shop with 10% comission. As soon as it became profitable the owner got salty and i had walk. Live and learn.
Tom Peters wrote long ago that business management attracts psychotics. Although fear & intimidation can boost production they are built in self destruct mechanisms that put companies out of business eventually. Skill needs patience & understanding to blossom. Psychotics have only one skill & it is the skill of self destruction & destroying others in the process.
I gave 25 years to a owner that made me HATE coming to work the last 5 years and leaving was the smartest thing I ever did as he sold shortly after and screwed everyone who devoted so much time to making the place successful
This is why in business you have to play hard-core business by getting all financial agreements written in a contract and notarized . I had a similar story happened to me when I was only 18 years old however it all worked out for the best . Money does strange things to people . How many siblings got screwed out of their inheritance by their own brother or sister ???
This is a common story. You are good friend while building a startup. But once the owner starts feeling he doesn't need you any more, the attitude will change. Well in reality it will always happen, because the owner will think why would one programmer be earning 100 times more than the other. Instead of making a deal for % from sales you should make a deal for % of the company.
i work in a small machine shop i mostly use a conventional lathe 660mmx3300mm im not happy i really am not im over worked, during our lockdown i was the only machinist in the shop for over 3 months and then standby over the holiday season for 3 years in a row i was basically in charge of everything happening in the sho p for the entirety of 2020 and yet i still barely get payed more than the janitor its extremely frustrating and demotivating .
I don't understand the conceit that can take over some people's minds. Money is nice and all, but you can't take it with you. I've given up plenty of cash on principle alone. I don't ever want to be the guy in your story, I'd rather go without.
God blessed you, brother. Forgiveness, and his recognition of his erroneous ways saved you both. So sorry that you had to go through this. God has these things happen in great effort to help us save our souls. Perhaps, you were sent as an emissary from God to help your partner save his soul. It’s looks like you did some Good work, and Godspeed.
I don't think it's mass market enough. I mean think about a tv show based in the PCB design industry. I might watch a show or two to see the basics of what they do, but only the hardcore fans of the industry want to see episode after episode.
Tho I can understand that guys thinking to a good degree, it was you who got the business productive. You were the brains, he was the finance manager. What hell he put you through simply because he was running a well oiled machine..... ....then turned off the oil to save money. 😳 It was a hard lesson for him to learn. Your ability to forgive is amazing.
Partnerships are often difficult. They usually end up in a place where one partner is abusing the other and often in the delusion of the abuser they believe that they're the one getting the short end of the stick. Humans can be brilliant at business, but quite blind sided and irrational to themselves. There are no easy answer to this except to learn from our mistakes and to protect ourselves accordingly. "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst". It's denying human nature what will often leave us in bad situations.
I'm not even a machinist. But I took a jewelry class, then got a job as an "apprentice jeweler".... I left the job soon after.... I knew how to do everything, the head jeweler saw my work, yet wouldn't let me touch anything. All I did was polish, and ship items.... I got the vibe that he was afraid of that I was going to take over his job. I wasn't going to waste my time... I left.
What i like most is the ending. I was expecting the boss to fail in the end it. Just figured another greedy person and money became their goal over the partnership. I didn't expect him to learn his lesson , get a reality check and change his way. Most would have blamed the other guy and continue on their way. Glad it worked out.
I worked for a regional bank and I dealt with a number of jobs that were small and were for various departments other than where I was placed but no one else knew how to do everything I did. I was placed under a different manager who seemed gung ho and said he wanted to see what it was I did. He never did come talk with me and decided to outsource 1/3 of my work without even knowing the details of the work. I was pissed as were the other department managers who I did the work for. I was offered a position in one of the departments I did work for with a 30% pay increase and took it. When I told my boss he was pretty calm and asked me for a list of everything I did and went pale when I gave him the long list of things I did. As far as I know after I left there were some parts my job that no one took over though I did leave detailed instruction on how to do it all. New manager was great and appreciated my hard work. HAving a good boss makes all the difference in the world.
OH, forgot to mention - my biggest love or “hobby” is my classical music! One of my most favorite symphonies is Gustav Mahler’s symphony #1 - the “TITAN”!!! Awesome!!! “Gesundheit”!
The lesson here is to live frugally and save, so that you can have a zero tolerance for BS. Always have the money to float for three months. You're a machinist, you'll never lack for work.
Its too bad that you didn’t have a written contract with this guy. As I listen to your story, it becomes obvious that he intended to move you out as soon as he became successful
In the market that I work in, I've had a lot of close people that would tell me they would invest in my ideas and I always refused no matter what time it took me to get the ball rolling, I always thought about how things go wrong involving other people. In this case you learned something you didn't know that he thought you, that's the reward you obtained out of that bad experience. Bad experiences usually have something to good to learn of.
Industrial repairmen also have the same types of experience. Use a great deal of experience and technical know-how to make difficult repairs on sophisticated equipment. If you do a great job too quickly they don't appreciate you, and they disrespect you - but they always wait till the job is done.
In business .... and in marriage you must always ... always , remind each other by saying, out loud, to each other, that "I'm not your enemy ! " if one or the other can't or is unwilling to say that run away as fast as you possibly can. !!
Me, 40yrs before. Not learned but hired by a "IT Boss" as i was 18 and i created a completely new business (Network Services / 1988) in the Company who´s earning that as their meaning income. "Big Boss" was a terrant and fired me due 2 much complex knowing after 2 Yrs. without any free time, extra payment or such extras. Working time was as usual Mo-Su 14 Hrs a day (84hrs/Week) against the contract of 38 Hrs Mo-Fr. Talking to us that "we are only lazy and shit". Anyone who protests was fired immediately. "YOU ARE ALWAYS REPLACABLE" WTF - His Company is existing anyway and he´s now living in the Martinique with his own House, private Plane, Yacht etc.
Im not even sure how you got into my feed, But im glad it did. I dont look up machining in my vids. You just came up. Funny how god can work in our lives if he chooses.
Same story happened with me dude it's 90%the same story that happened with me. But on the 10% something happened more interesting they hire an noob operator and get destroyed the machines one by one, huge lose per production huge wastage percentage and the company goes down they lost there name fame brand value, only for a selfish decision.
Respect is one of those things in life that lifts others up as you give it to them and lifts your self up at the same time. It teaches people to believe in them selves and in time many will work to fulfill that believe. It can be hard to drop your ego sometimes and be humble enough to see that God has put you in a place where your success is built on the shoulders of others. I'm there, my life revolves around this. Nothing without God, nothing without good employees and partners. Respect for others efforts, belief in there abilities and encouragement is what makes it happen. We simple don't do much of anything without a vision of our lives that has an emotional connection to something greater than where we are at. If you don't respect others or yourself your caught in this little negative perspective that will define you. If you have a shop and want to be successful listen to this again. Understand that you could be throwing away an employee, a partner that can help you succeed because you did not understanding their value, or worse look for it.
How do you know when its time to leave. I have a boss that has gotten similar as of lately. He didn't have much background in machining when i came to help. In a very short time the business grew from his sales and my knowledge on machines. He hired on a toxic person who is negative most of the the till the boss is around. He waste a lot of time and money. I won't go into his work because i don't want to be that guy but it really shouldn't fly for any shop that has some pride in there work. I explain to him that his attitude sets the tempo for the shop. He has tried to make improvement towards the other guys but seems to have distance his self from me and gotten cold. He has always taken thing out on me. Issues and home or problems in the shop. I've even be jumped on for people taking to long on parts that and desicions that i was not envoled in. I wondering if its time i move on.

I left the motorcycle industry for similar reasons. My boss (GM/building owner) told me on more than one occasion, "I don't have to be the best at everything, I have to have employees who are"
But he never would give the credit (or money) where it was due, plus talk out both sides of his mouth. I had been the service manager for 4 years and had the best numbers in the history of the service dept. NEVER ONCE GIVEN A RAISE. Then he wondered why I was leaving.
What was worse was the behaviour of the then Wife. She abandoned the ship at the first instance of rough times. Great inspirational story on how to deal with difficult times.
You are one of the most wholesome men in general. You're honor and morals is beyond respectable.
You won out Titan and good for you. Your honesty and obviously your ability makes you a winner.
Titan is a contagious force of greatness.
Good thing I work nights. I get to see this at 3am.
Powerful story Titan. Money makes people do crazy things. Get your agreements in writing people!
Great story! It's nice to hear 2 old friends reconcile their friendship.
Thanks for the share. I’ve experienced similar. I know the pain.
Crazy story it is. I can relate to your story and i hope that i never become like that guy (boss). Sometimes i think that I'm superior because I'm putting the money, but noooo people on the floor make it happen and the talent matters.
Since I have gotten a little older, I realize it's a two way street, I make you money, you make me money, we each have to hold up our end of the deal. Make sure your guys have what they need to be successful and they will get the job done. You have to make sure the business end is, and stays solid. - sounds like you already knew that 😀
But the truth is I don’t want my subordinates to get over my head. Kind of Jealousy thingy.
@@elypowell6797 yup, my clients got disrespectful with me (late payments, loss of work) and so I left the business and went into academia, the people there respect my work for them, and my old clients, well there is a warm place for them they can go. Should note, this whole business went offshore and most (300+) single-operator businesses went out of business. Some are trying to get me back, but karma is a bitch!
Wow, what an amazingly talented AMERICAN! Your words are so empowering, that being inspired, I have forwarded a few of your videos of 2 years ago, to my daughter, wife and best buddy, who could run a business so effectively if we build a road map to success. Keep uploading Titan. You are an American NATIONAL TREASURE. Good luck to you, Titan! Stay safe.
Some people don't know how t handle pressure. Some get greedy as they become more successful. The step from hunger to greed is called success. Glad he made amends with you. You are good at your profession and love it. Same with me with Information Technology and I've loved every day of my 43 years working in it.
I have the same problem my boss is real disrespectful and it's really starting to effect my normal life. Glad u got outta that situation...
Man! I love these videos! THANK YOU TITAN FOR INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION!
😎😎😎😎
Yes I've seen this happen a few times in my life I've had similar stuff like what's happened to you happened to me but I kept a good business mindset and moved on just like you did..
Awesome company you have there I would love to be a part of it
Titan you are very inspiring. Im trying to transition to cnc from manual, and im not grabbing on like i think i would. But i like the positive mental additude. Ill keep plugging away.
Making the same transition you’ll get the hang of it man
So impressive your work and how you handle huge amount projects, and you have time reply to all the audience comments you too if I compare other TH-cam not reply to their audience at all. This is make me proud of you😊😊😊
It takes a special person to understand that a shop is successful when all departments are appreciated in that a product(s) meets quality coming and going through each phase.
Titan , what your doin is more powerful than you know . May God Bless You
I can totally relate to your experience!
You should have signed a contract; being an engineer and all.
@@akivaweil5066 its not a matter of having a contract but enforcement of it. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is walk.
@@Murfster Yeah, sorry if that was harsh.
Good stories man, keep them coming. Have a blessed day
Thank you brother , good words , really setup my day
Well done. When we forgive those who trespass against us, we rid ourselves from carrying gunk inside us.
I appreciate your mind, you are a very smart CEO. 👏
Thank you for your sincerity
I have been in your shoes and man it is depressing, been down that road rough. God's Bless.
i work in a small machine shop i mostly use a conventional lathe 660mmx3300mm
im not happy
i really am not
im over worked, during our lockdown i was the only machinist in the shop for over 3 months and then standby over the holiday season for 3 years in a row i was basically in charge of everything happening in the sho p for the entirety of 2020 and yet i still barely get payed more than the janitor
its extremely frustrating and demotivating .
Find a NEW place ASAP; don't look back.
I don't understand the conceit that can take over some people's minds. Money is nice and all, but you can't take it with you. I've given up plenty of cash on principle alone. I don't ever want to be the guy in your story, I'd rather go without.
Same.
It's more to do with envy and feeling intimidated by others abilities than greed. So they focus on the one thing they have control over, payroll!
You should get your own show up on Amazon and Netflix.
I was just thinking that myself. We're kidding ourselves if you don't think he is doing just fantastic as his TH-cam career soars.
I don't think it's mass market enough.
I mean think about a tv show based in the PCB design industry.
I might watch a show or two to see the basics of what they do, but only the hardcore fans of the industry want to see episode after episode.
Very humbling to hear he apologized later on and you accepted his apology and became friends again.
Such an awesome story of redemption and forgiveness.
Tho I can understand that guys thinking to a good degree, it was you who got the business productive. You were the brains, he was the finance manager.
What hell he put you through simply because he was running a well oiled machine.....
....then turned off the oil to save money. 😳
It was a hard lesson for him to learn. Your ability to forgive is amazing.
5axis moves on a 3 axis mill, now thats something i wanna learn
I left.
Awesome story
Love your energy sir
love your stories titan. thanks.
What i like most is the ending. I was expecting the boss to fail in the end it. Just figured another greedy person and money became their goal over the partnership. I didn't expect him to learn his lesson , get a reality check and change his way. Most would have blamed the other guy and continue on their way. Glad it worked out.
Love the story thank you for sharing
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing the knowledge
I like listening to you and watching the videos , keep working hard Titan.
Titan is a good storyteller
Stuff in the video all look like internal mold cores for a motor of somekind? To prevent liquid metal from filling part of a sand mold.
LOL DOH! FACE PALM! (didn't see the name in the first 5 seconds of the video- "Edelbrock")
Thanks for getting me Started Now take a hike
Power does not corrupt. Power reveals who people really are deep down. You can forgive this man, but remember what he was like when he had power.
That $94/per to $250/per was a blessing!!
Never let a boss know you are smarter than they think they are, they will fire you every time.
Industrial repairmen also have the same types of experience. Use a great deal of experience and technical know-how to make difficult repairs on sophisticated equipment. If you do a great job too quickly they don't appreciate you, and they disrespect you - but they always wait till the job is done.
And this was the story that officially made me subscribe ☺️
I can relate to your story. I worked in the aerospace industry as a universal Miller then later in one off research.
"YOU ARE ALWAYS REPLACABLE"
WTF - His Company is existing anyway and he´s now living in the Martinique with his own House, private Plane, Yacht etc.
this same thing happened to me repeatedly, unfortunately I never had a malibu boats to pull it back, but I know how this feels.
This is the video that earned my sub.
i used to love the trade, my ex boss burnt my love of machining out of me. walked out of his shop with my tools the same way you did titan.
At least he was grownup enough to apologize
Reading the comments there's a common theme: it's always the other guy who's a problem.
Beautiful story brother. I’m proud of ya.
Awesome story respect!!
Never take disrespect ever for any reason because once you are a punk there's no going back .
Im not even sure how you got into my feed, But im glad it did. I dont look up machining in my vids. You just came up. Funny how god can work in our lives if he chooses.
Great story happy end and that many can learn from it !
Sad some people don't know how good they have it until your no longer there.
Right away
@@togowack that what my gut has been saying. There aren't many shops in my area that why I have been sticking it out.

Sorry you had to go through this, but because he did it to you when he’s an adult it would be risky to do business with him again. Some people can change but only very few can change. If they committed the wrong at an older age, say 21+ years of age, it’s really hard for them to change. If I were you, I would be careful around this guy even if you have forgiven him.
