I feel like ghoti Runick specifically is really really good against the runick mirror match just because yeah you get banish milled but then you get your little guys into rotation, and this is one of those decks where cross out is a crazy tech because if you brick with no way to the tuners you can just call one and it revives the next turn, I'm so happy ghoti is getting some representation in big tournaments
There is a level 4 fish tuner revealed in legacy of destruction, fishborg harpooner. It looks great on paper: discard a water to summon itself, if it is sent to the GY as synchro material for a water monster, it negates an opponents monster.
It's a cool list, for sure, but I think I'm going to stick with White Aura Ghoti for the time being since it's doesn't really suffer from the same issue of not having level 4 Fish tuners since all of the White Aura cards can become tuners with their own effects.
The 1 card combo with Leafish is that you send Shif, use Shig GY effect to banish itself anf pass. On the opponent's turn Summon Shif and then you can Synchro Arionpos on the opponent's turn and you can banish Picsic there, which can add and banish Zef to Synchro again. Then when yiu use Arionpos as Synchro Material you can use its GY effect to banish itself and add Snopios, which let you keep playing on the opponent's turn and gives you even more grind
IIRC, that's the old combo. From what I remember a few months ago, you want to get the 6 on your turn to potentially go into great beyond on opponent's turn, which was not possible with the prior 1 card combos. Arionpos + a potential Snopios body block just isn't good enough. I haven't built it as yet (testing a few other things first) so I don't recall the new combos, however.

ive been playing gothi runick as my first real deck on master duel, its very fun. It has a lot of sinergy but also anti-synergies. Spell banish from deck is really good for Gothi to get a gazillion atk points but a lot of the time your actual boss monster is the lvl 10 swordsould because chances are you still have runick spells on your hand so you definitely dont wanna banish your fountain before you are ready to OTK. Otherwise its has ok versatility and great interaction, resilience and removal, a ton of the time people get confused or dont know which parts of your board they need to destroy and most of the time it doesnt matter since all of your main deck monsters come back one way or another. For example if they target the tuners, they come back the next turn by banishing them for cost with snopios. Also its really funny to have the normal monsters get Gamecieled and then just making Gothi at the end of their combo, like "Thanks man i neede the lvl 8" Edit: Also who TF runs 3 lifefless leafish¿¿¿ I run one and it barely if even comes up, its more useful as a discard for huggin than its actual effect wtf¿ In pure gothi fish salad sure, its a really good starter, specially if summoned with paces but in runick gothi like ¿¿¿¿ EditEdit: Snopios, Zep, Pces and Shif are your bread and butter on your opponents turn why didnt anyone mentioned how good they are ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ They are how you actually make the synchros EDITEDITEDIT: Yeah this is a mainly gothi + runick deck, not the other way around. A small Lightsworn Engine (3 Charge of the Lightbrigade and 2-3 Raiden) work wonders in the Deck. The Raiden is the lvl4 Tuner thats missing for first Turn and both Charge and Raiden let you dump a lot of Runick/Ghoti Cards for free :D
Ok so i've been working with pure variants with ghoti. Gold sarcophagus instantly starts a combo. send psiics and then psiics searches and banishes one. you require a target for psiics but its basically an instant askaan turn 2. and if you have extras/ extenders you can make a lot of stuff. this doesn't use the normal summon btw. and ash blossom cant negate the banish however it can negate the search of psiics. but you still have normal summon. it has decent consistency

you can also splash a small earthbound engine with 3 of the level 1 and 1 or 2 of the level 5. That way u can play through handraps mroe easily and u open another line of combos. The standard full combo in the video is tuner with 2 runick spells and with this u add the combo of 1 earthbound 1 runick spell and one ghoti to discard except snopios (only requirement for this engine is to play freki, martial metal marcher and crocodragon archethys in the extra)
Turn 0 warcrime turbo is the real based ghoti strat, maxing out on handtraps that draw and/or summon turn 0 like impulse, phantazmay, bystials, gamma/delta to abuse hop ear squadron, as well as max snopios, zep and psiics. You can literally forego spell/traps entirely in favour of more handtraps and fish, it's basically the complete opposite of runick.
I run a ghoti-white deck. A lot of people have said that runick-ghoti is a viable build but I just cant seem to make it work. I would love a combo breakdown/ theory on how you would play the combinations of the two.
We do get a Lv. 4 fish tuner in Legecy of Destruction and it is even good. Even in the Ghoti community this card didn't got much attantion and I am not sure why, it seems really good for Ghoti. (Fishborg Harpooner)

Ghoti is pretty cool and Runick tries to patch up one of its flaws (a lack of good access to non-tuners to synchro with) but overall it just creates a deck you're basically playing just so you can play Ghoti. I just wish they had a better one card starter than Lifeless Leaffish.
A different combo can summon Deep Beyond twice in one turn. It’s not a hard once per turn effect, so any follow up your opponent has after the first one will be wiped out. Only works in builds that are mainly fish and don’t run runicks though
I play the deck, I play 26 Runick, 10 Ghoti, 1 Hop Ear and 3 Handtraps... Swordsoul Abyss Dragon, it's busted in this format and it's a level 8 extender.
Arionpos can banish itself to search, and can bring Snopios as an extender in the opponent's turn. From what I could see of some DB replays, those replay decks don't follow the top cut build and use small engines such as Raiden/Charge of the Light Brigade or Supay, Duskwalker to make Arionpos straight away (also Raiden's mills have some uses), we gotta see if there will be a starter card in the collection after LEDE
Josh is correct. Either pure Runic or pure goatee is much better. Just like you said, you're not taking advantage of either engines. Max potential. You're getting like half of each. It just is cool and it's really cool that we're together and they vanish. And there's like some synergy, but it's not good synergy.

I just topped a 3v3 case tourney with this deck the reason this deck is good into the format is because the match vs fire king snake eyes and with the new support you can double deep beyond on there turn the combo is layered kinda how unchained was anytime you resolve the level 6 snycro your in a great position
In this deck, I feel like setting up fountain turn one would possibly be bad. This definitely wouldn’t work in MD because you’re end goal is Deep Beyond which would banish your one-of fountain.

I love Ghoti, I really do, but they didn't need to make the second wave ass and make us rely on the OCG to help fix the TCGs fuck-up. If Ghoti had gotten an ACTUAL 2nd wave of support, Runick or Superheavy Ghoti would be seeing more play period.
runik ghoti has some way better lines than what chat explained with cupid or fish lamp Other ghoti variants depend on what non tuners you use: either supay, the white sardine/sunfish, and/or earthbounds. These can kinda play shifter, don't banish fountain with deep beyond, and have WAY more non-engine.... idk what's better personally but it's not nearly as bad as you think

Ive been playing a runick list with snake eyes for the last several weeks (i personally believe its currently the best version of runick based on absolutely nothing) and I think Joshua is right, runick does feel like a pray you go first kind of deck.
Maybe instead of a Runick version, you could try a Shifter version, which is the counter of the Fire decks even going second. It is true that Ghoti needs its graveyard, but there are strong fields that could be set under shifter.
My friend has been playing this since spright meta, even then before it had the new tools that made it so much better it still felt really good to play and helt strong in tear format
This list is bad, but ur forgeting that u can summon psiics on your turn and on opponents, so thats at least 2 synchro summons (either 2 lvl 8s or a lvl 8 and a 10), and then u get your materials back on ur standby again, so thats where it pops off
I thought about combining the dark magician banishing and cards to protect magician and the fusion to protect backrow with runick. Especially since souls lets you dump runick spells to draw and then fountain to draw more and servant to draw again. The dragon fusion and continuous trap makes a protected lock and im curious if it'll prevent snake eyes from summoning from my backrow. Not to mention banishing from field with the continuous spell.
The combo is, get hugin, get fountain, hugin + lvl2 tuner get pitch to modulate to lvl2, runick for Geri to arionpos and get banish fish + get hop ear and pass turn
@@nathansullivan2204Hop Ear can make any generic lv 8/10 on the opponent's turn. And like the other guy said, if you just Baronne pass, you won't get to your Ghoti plays, which is far more powerful than just an omninegate.
Feel like instead of 1 TTT he should have just run 1 more runic card or any consistency tool like a pot given that alot of the combos are 2 card combos...
It's probably not a good runick deck, but it's a good ghoti deck. Ghoti used to play instant/ready fusion to get the extenders. Runick replaces that while also giving you a bunch of interruptions if you don't need the bodies.
@@Lich_V. Orcust Bystial actually synergizes pretty well thanks to branded regained allowing for a good grind, but generally it's better with the horus stuff than runick. Runick and Orcust synergize surprisingly well since the runick package provides on-demand discards while enabling Girsu's tuner effect(only version of the deck I'd actually want to run synchros in). Plus the Orcust dark lock doesn't really matter that much since you are gonna be using your runick summons first anyway.
For more on what the best turn 1 combo the deck can do, is 2 Runick Spell + a Ghoti Tuner, Shif or Paces being the preferred, Zep as a last resort. Runick spell 1 summon Hugin, Hugin add Fountain. Normal Summon Shif, then synchro 4 into Cupid Pitch. Cupid Pitch become a level 2, then use your 2nd Runick spell to summon another Gerry. Fountain for min2. Then synchro 6 for Arianpos, chain blocking the Cupid Search for Hopear with Arianpos' banish. Banish Psiics. Psiics effect banishing the level 2 tuner to summon from banish, then on summon adding then banishing one of you other level 2 fish (except Zep). Cards in hand is 4-5 depending on discard as you pass turn to opponent, with standby bringing back your level 2 fish tuners. From there it's conventional Ghoti plays on opp turn, with the extra Runick cards for interruption. The game finisher for the deck is summon a god damn massive Deep Beyond, because you've been banishing your cards, your opp field, and your opp deck using Runick cards.
You still get your Runick draws in this deck and the banishing mechanic and playing on your opponents turn is quite explosive. The lvl 4 tuner will help break fish when the Atlantean structure deck lands
S:P Little Knight in the Mannadium combos if your opponent has no cards in grave, can banish your own Astraloud in grave so you can recycle it with Dis Pater
2 runicks and a ghoti tuner give you 4 synchro summons on the opponents turn, including 2 deep beyond nukes - no lifeless leaffish - which also give you 4 monsters on your next turn ideally you run 10 tuners, 20 runicks, 8 non engine, and the two level 6s which are taketomborgs
Wouldn't the new white fish cards fix this issue if you mix them in. White sunfish and the other one when special sunmoned from the grave act as a tuner?
The "white" fish stuff is just...so hideously situational to an exceptionally annoying degree Sardine is a special let down as it water locks you. Guess what attribute Fishlamp is? Hell, guess what attribute we don't have level 4 synchros or worthwhile Xyzs to sardine + lvl 2 tuna into?
@blugger if you open sardine you aren't summoning fishlamp anyways. You have full combo assuming you have the spell or another fish in hand. You can get Adam dragite out along with tuners banished and pass turn, and then have double Deep beyond field wipes on the opponents turn. Fishlamp basically exists to fix an oddly bricked hand of exactly shif and keaf. It's funny when it happens, but don't expect to use it often.
I'd be more excited if it were NOT a tuner What makes Runicks so clutch for Ghoti is that fish are so tight fisted about worthwhile special summonable non-tuners, and the white fish have *not* helped at all The fishborg duder does, at least, have a P.U.N.K Deer note effect to let you flop out the superancient deepsea king
I agree with your end thoughts that it's not as good as a runick variant, but better as a ghoti variant. I'm testing a few things out myself between runick vs white ghoti; but I'm partial to the latter--mostly because my runick cards are in other decks. I can't recall where the water lock comes from, but I think Fishlamp works with summoning Hugin? I also like the fish variant because it's easier to get Ran Aegerine, which either baits interaction, or threatens Gymir Aegerine which prevents destruction, which is just annoying to use.
Play 3 charge of the light brigade and 3 raiden. Solves lvl 4 tuner access and you can mill fish monster and runick spells in the process. Also you end with 4 summons and arionpos, psiics and 2 tuner.
With a quem, ecclesia, golden swordsoul package the deck gets way better. With perfect hand of two runics, quem and a fish you can go: Summon quem dump ecclesia Summon hugin pitch the fish, summon back ecclesia Synchro into arianpos, banish psiics Trigger psiics, banishing the fish in grave and get one of the lvl2 tuners to banish. Synchro into baronne with arianpos and the remaining lvl4 tuner Trigger arianpos to get keif in hand banishing itself. Special keif Special geri, trigger fountain to draw 2 Link with keif and geri into s:p banish keif in grave with s:p. Next turn keif and the lvl2 tuner come back and you have like 3 banish (s:p, keif, aksaan) and an omni with baronne + any runick that you have drawn.
Arionpos is one of those cards that you read and think “this is generic - surely there’s a way to break this”. Unfortunately, having to play so many engine requirements means you’re either playing a bunch of bricks in a non-ghoti deck to enable a line that loses to a single imperm, or you’re playing a more ghoti-focused deck with all your potential non-engine slots taken up by some goofy synchro 6 engine. Maybe there is guu with runicks if someone cracks the code, but I don’t think the limiting factor in any runick deck is that they don’t get to pop off enough when you open perfect hands. If there is an undiscovered “best” runick deck out there, it’ll include stuff similar to the Bystials where your extenders double as non-engine.

I think Ghoti Runick is good against FK Diabellstar, like how Ninjas were good against Kash.

I love Ghoti, I really do, but they didn't need to make the second wave ass and make us rely on the OCG to help fix the TCGs fuck-up. If Ghoti had gotten an ACTUAL 2nd wave of support, Runick or Superheavy Ghoti would be seeing more play period.

Other ghoti variants depend on what non tuners you use: either supay, the white sardine/sunfish, and/or earthbounds. These can kinda play shifter, don't banish fountain with deep beyond, and have WAY more non-engine.... idk what's better personally but it's not nearly as bad as you think

Ive been playing a runick list with snake eyes for the last several weeks (i personally believe its currently the best version of runick based on absolutely nothing) and I think Joshua is right, runick does feel like a pray you go first kind of deck.
I've played both Runick Ghoti and Earthbound, and I find Ghoti wayyy better
Runick Ghoti is fun, but isn't very good. I think the best Ghoti build uses the White Aura cards as additional starters

Maybe instead of a Runick version, you could try a Shifter version, which is the counter of the Fire decks even going second. It is true that Ghoti needs its graveyard, but there are strong fields that could be set under shifter.

Leaffish sends shif. Shif banishes itself from grave. Leaffish is a one card combo but only to the level 8 can’t get to deep beyond with just Leaffish

Honestly the list he played should have had Fishlamp so you can synchro level 2 Tuner + Hugin.
This list is bad, but ur forgeting that u can summon psiics on your turn and on opponents, so thats at least 2 synchro summons (either 2 lvl 8s or a lvl 8 and a 10), and then u get your materials back on ur standby again, so thats where it pops off

As a Ghoti player, i thought that the point of Runick Ghoti was to go through cupid. Idk what his combo is.
I think i might be the first to play ghoti runnik back in 2023 and got top 3 at an online event
I thought about combining the dark magician banishing and cards to protect magician and the fusion to protect backrow with runick. Especially since souls lets you dump runick spells to draw and then fountain to draw more and servant to draw again. The dragon fusion and continuous trap makes a protected lock and im curious if it'll prevent snake eyes from summoning from my backrow. Not to mention banishing from field with the continuous spell.

You can make fish lamp with hugin and a ghoti tuner but idk where you go from there 😂
The combo is, get hugin, get fountain, hugin + lvl2 tuner get pitch to modulate to lvl2, runick for Geri to arionpos and get banish fish + get hop ear and pass turn
If ur gonna go into cupid and geri anyway, why not go make it lvl 6 so you can go into baronne. Kinda pointless imo

@@nathansullivan2204Hop Ear can make any generic lv 8/10 on the opponent's turn. And like the other guy said, if you just Baronne pass, you won't get to your Ghoti plays, which is far more powerful than just an omninegate.
Feel like instead of 1 TTT he should have just run 1 more runic card or any consistency tool like a pot given that alot of the combos are 2 card combos...
It's probably not a good runick deck, but it's a good ghoti deck. Ghoti used to play instant/ready fusion to get the extenders. Runick replaces that while also giving you a bunch of interruptions if you don't need the bodies.

Iirc when harp came of the FnL that he doesnt see the synergy between runick and orcust
He mentioned it in a stream, he thinks the engines dont synergies well enough together i think was the conclusion
orcust-bystial sounds like anti-synergy to me and orcust runick doesn't really synergise
@@Lich_V. Orcust Bystial actually synergizes pretty well thanks to branded regained allowing for a good grind, but generally it's better with the horus stuff than runick.
Runick and Orcust synergize surprisingly well since the runick package provides on-demand discards while enabling Girsu's tuner effect(only version of the deck I'd actually want to run synchros in). Plus the Orcust dark lock doesn't really matter that much since you are gonna be using your runick summons first anyway.

For more on what the best turn 1 combo the deck can do, is 2 Runick Spell + a Ghoti Tuner, Shif or Paces being the preferred, Zep as a last resort.
Runick spell 1 summon Hugin, Hugin add Fountain. Normal Summon Shif, then synchro 4 into Cupid Pitch. Cupid Pitch become a level 2, then use your 2nd Runick spell to summon another Gerry. Fountain for min2. Then synchro 6 for Arianpos, chain blocking the Cupid Search for Hopear with Arianpos' banish. Banish Psiics. Psiics effect banishing the level 2 tuner to summon from banish, then on summon adding then banishing one of you other level 2 fish (except Zep). Cards in hand is 4-5 depending on discard as you pass turn to opponent, with standby bringing back your level 2 fish tuners.
From there it's conventional Ghoti plays on opp turn, with the extra Runick cards for interruption. The game finisher for the deck is summon a god damn massive Deep Beyond, because you've been banishing your cards, your opp field, and your opp deck using Runick cards.

You still get your Runick draws in this deck and the banishing mechanic and playing on your opponents turn is quite explosive. The lvl 4 tuner will help break fish when the Atlantean structure deck lands

2 runicks and a ghoti tuner give you 4 synchro summons on the opponents turn, including 2 deep beyond nukes - no lifeless leaffish - which also give you 4 monsters on your next turn
ideally you run 10 tuners, 20 runicks, 8 non engine, and the two level 6s which are taketomborgs

Wouldn't the new white fish cards fix this issue if you mix them in. White sunfish and the other one when special sunmoned from the grave act as a tuner?
The "white" fish stuff is just...so hideously situational to an exceptionally annoying degree

@blugger if you open sardine you aren't summoning fishlamp anyways. You have full combo assuming you have the spell or another fish in hand. You can get Adam dragite out along with tuners banished and pass turn, and then have double Deep beyond field wipes on the opponents turn. Fishlamp basically exists to fix an oddly bricked hand of exactly shif and keaf. It's funny when it happens, but don't expect to use it often.
need to wait for the fish tuner lvl 4 on Legacy of destruction. Im sure that this will be a contender to out big decks

What makes Runicks so clutch for Ghoti is that fish are so tight fisted about worthwhile special summonable non-tuners, and the white fish have *not* helped at all
The fishborg duder does, at least, have a P.U.N.K Deer note effect to let you flop out the superancient deepsea king

I agree with your end thoughts that it's not as good as a runick variant, but better as a ghoti variant. I'm testing a few things out myself between runick vs white ghoti; but I'm partial to the latter--mostly because my runick cards are in other decks. I can't recall where the water lock comes from, but I think Fishlamp works with summoning Hugin?
I also like the fish variant because it's easier to get Ran Aegerine, which either baits interaction, or threatens Gymir Aegerine which prevents destruction, which is just annoying to use.
Play 3 charge of the light brigade and 3 raiden. Solves lvl 4 tuner access and you can mill fish monster and runick spells in the process. Also you end with 4 summons and arionpos, psiics and 2 tuner.
With a quem, ecclesia, golden swordsoul package the deck gets way better. With perfect hand of two runics, quem and a fish you can go:
Summon quem dump ecclesia
Summon hugin pitch the fish, summon back ecclesia
Synchro into arianpos, banish psiics
Trigger psiics, banishing the fish in grave and get one of the lvl2 tuners to banish.
Synchro into baronne with arianpos and the remaining lvl4 tuner
Trigger arianpos to get keif in hand banishing itself.
Special keif
Special geri, trigger fountain to draw 2
Link with keif and geri into s:p banish keif in grave with s:p.
Next turn keif and the lvl2 tuner come back and you have like 3 banish (s:p, keif, aksaan) and an omni with baronne + any runick that you have drawn.
Raiden Lightsworn and Charge of the Light Brigade to mill runicks or fish and add your level 4 tuner 6 copies of a level 4 tuner
Also Fishborg Harpooner (Lever 4 Tuner) is coming in LEDE, Fishborg can SS itself by discarding another water monster (Ghoti)
Arionpos is one of those cards that you read and think “this is generic - surely there’s a way to break this”.
Unfortunately, having to play so many engine requirements means you’re either playing a bunch of bricks in a non-ghoti deck to enable a line that loses to a single imperm, or you’re playing a more ghoti-focused deck with all your potential non-engine slots taken up by some goofy synchro 6 engine.
Maybe there is guu with runicks if someone cracks the code, but I don’t think the limiting factor in any runick deck is that they don’t get to pop off enough when you open perfect hands. If there is an undiscovered “best” runick deck out there, it’ll include stuff similar to the Bystials where your extenders double as non-engine.
Superheavy Ghoti makes the 6 without a normal summon, but still just lacks any extra power bc Water decks suck.
