I said to my artist that i want a "inglorious basterds / Fight club" sleeve and he rewatched both movies in one evening to make a better design and catch the atmosphere that the tattoo should emit. That right there is real passion ^^ (sorry for any missspellings, english isnt my first language 🙃✌️)
Shout out to my progressive Latina mom who, when I came of age and wanted a tattoo said, "Well, I don't like them but your body belongs to you. I will chip in some of the cost as your birthday gift." And then she came with me to my first appointment to be supportive. Over ten years later she still asks for photo updates as I work on my leg/arm sleeves. Love you, mom. Also, fun story, my mother covered for me when my conservative, patriarchal grandfather nearly saw my first tattoo. He came into the kitchen when my mother was showing my leg to my grandmother...grandfather walked in and asked what was going on. Mom didn't skip a beat, just said "Cosas de mujeres, daddy." And he turned tail and left IMMEDIATELY XD

Ohhh I love that! Normally my parents are pretty cool but tattoos seem like a big problem. I have four smaller tattoos all on places you can't really see if I'm standing normal but my father threatened to cut me of financially if I continue getting tattooed. Funny story because I paid for them myself, and the last one was a free work. I don't know why they are so strict about it, I am an adult and live over 500 km from them....shouldn't be a concerns for them. I am also working in a field were tattoos are normal and accepted.

About the awkward situations, there was this one time when I was getting my inner forearm done. The artist was a pretty heavy-set guy and because of the position of the tattoo he was sitting right in line with my arm, not laterally, and his chest was pressing up against my hand. So, as you do, I kept it nice and relaxed and closed my fingers. Fast forward, after like two hours of zoning out, as I usually do when getting inked, I suddenly came back as I realized that at some point I had unknowingly opened my hand and had basically been feeling this guy up the entire time. I was quite literally cupping his man boob. So yeah, I've been way more mentally present and careful since then, not an experience I ever wanna repeat. Also big props to him for keeping it cool and professional and carrying on with the tattoo without saying a single word about it, really appreciated

I was 19 or 20 at the time. I had 4 hidden tattoos before I finally told my parents I had tattoos. I was 31 then. They almost "disowned" me (if it's possible to disown a married, 31 year old who lives nearly 3 hours away in the house she owns.) Now, two years later, they don't really care, and I have a half sleeve and plan to get lots more tattoos soon. They'll get over it eventually, but it might take until your early 30s.

Mind u this was like a year or two since I had gotten it. We hadn’t been spoken she just randomly decided to send them too me with out any prompt to do so. Lastly it’s on my lower back who the hell at work is gonna see it? I legit didn’t even respond to her bc why be so evil to your child

Literally HATE the term "tramp stamp." Why does that part of the body have such a negative term associated with it, but no other body part?? Like, you're not getting in my pants because I have a LOWER BACK TAT, or any other placement for that matter. Seriously, so stupid. And that was my first thought too about the job thing. I have a big Anime tattoo on my shoulder and I knew who the character was because she is my favourite from the show she is from, the artist smashed it , there are so many small details that are just insane

I'm so glad my parents are chill 😅 dad joked I was going to whistle in the wind when I went through my piercing phase and was getting a new piercing every few months. My mom loves my tattoos though. To the point that when I went wedding dress shopping I tried on one with sleeves because I know my grandma doesn't like my tattoos and my mom said "but you're not you if we can't see your art" 😭
I was worried my parents (Indian) would freak if I got a tattoo but my first one ended up being a memorial piece for my cat that passed away and they were surprisingly encouraging despite it being in a highly visible area. Currently have an appointment for a back piece and the only reaction they had was why I'd voluntarily put myself through that pain 😂
can you imagine the ITCHING of a full back piece in one day? like three days later when the bloody ITCHING starts, I would want to remove my whole back with a screwdriver

I just got my first lower leg tattoo on my inner ankle, my foot was going crazy!!! My leg would jerk, my calf muscle was twitching a lot. I felt so bad, turned out great though. Legs are weird
When I first started getting tattoos, one of the first things I wanted to do was get something over my SH scars, I went to some of the longest running tattoo studios and got turned down by every single one (ironically most are now shut down because they were like the Freemasons guy where it's all men in the studio, only want to do their own flash, which is fine but eh), I just wanted linework over it. So for years I just never asked again, I go to the same two artists for all my work, brilliant and talented ladies and I just enquired with my usual lass and she was like 'yeah, let's do it!'. One night she put a design on her instagram and because I couldn't sleep, it felt meant to be as my arms are all linework animals. I knew that was the one. Zoe at Curiosities is amazing.
I keep forgetting some parents are really strict, I have a few and my parents haven't hated or reacted badly to any of them. Some friends of mine are like "I wonder what they'll say" and I'm like??? When I got my newest I sent them a gc message and was like "getting a tattoo tomorrow if anyone wants to chip in"
I always used to say in my teens I’m getting a tattoo, Mum used to say I can’t stop you when you are old enough but just think about what you are getting! She was right of course! I have six tattoos now at 48, all smallish and only one on my inner wrist is particularly visible. I actually paid for my Mum to have a tattoo for her 60th which was a bit of a turnaround! My last tattoo I had done at end of the first lockdown and she paid half! Funny how things turn out x

My mom was shocked when she first saw mine.(it’s a yin-yang with scorpions instead of the dots… surrounded by a fire/water burst)…it’s now almost 25 years old and beyond saving… the color is still pretty solid… but the black /skin tone areas are blown out and virtually unrecognizable.

I came in to my artist to get a tiny matching tattoo with my mom. He treated me so well and his portfolio was so nice I ended up getting 3 huge expensive pieces and am working with him on a sleeve. always be nice regardless of the tattoo (as long as its not hateful)

never ever eveeeeeeeeeer do what that tshirt girl did ripping it off. you can very easilly do so much damage, the best option is just fucking pour water on your back over the tattoo. wet the fabric, itll losen the grip and you can remove it without ripping out ink
I’ve had my left shoulder tattooed and that was not fun, pain wise. I can’t imagine getting my whole back done in one go. All I have to say is ouch, and I admire this guy’s pain tolerance. Also the tattoo looks cool.

I 100% agree that the client is responsible for knowing what they get tattooed on them. You are given the chance to check the design and the placement before work even begins. When I got my cats names I was asked to write thier names and still double checked the spelling before work began.

I got my septum pierced as a fully grown woman who already had a professional job. My employer was not bothered by my piercing. My mom’s reaction? “Omg, omg is that real?!?! Omg omg I’m going to throw up!!! omg this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.” My response “glad to hear me dropping out of college has been downgraded” (went back to finish my degree a few years later before I got this piercing). I’m now in my mid 30’s and still no one in my field (special education) has complained or commented. I shudder to think how she’d react if I got a tattoo.
I had a tattoo booked for January but had to cancel because I became homeless 😭 I’m now in temporary council accommodation waiting for suitable permanent housing (I’m disabled so it needs to be accessible). Hoping I’ll be able to get rebooked ASAP but it’s going to take so long to save up for it now. It’ll be worth the wait though!
My partners mom reacted really bad when he got his first tattoo (a snake sleeve on his bicep). She woke him up in the middle of the night freaking out crying and screaming telling him he was possessed by the devil.
Just a tip to help you remember which way videos will be on screen for us - it’ll always be the same way you see it on your phone. since you don’t mirror the video when you put in the clip, it should always be the same sides as you’ll see. I edited a lot for college and I hope that helps!
My mom actually got me my first tattoo as 21st birthday gift and I just got my 7th tattoo recently. The only thing hate about getting tattooed is the single needle liner for lettering and for white highlights.

So I've been at home all day stuck in my room after being sick all this morning. I'm exhausted and feel like shit, but these videos always put a smile on my face.
I went to work 24hours after getting my back piece done and when I got home I couldnt get rid off my bra. It was stuck.. went in the shower with it and it was still stuck, sooo scary and I panicked :D Luckily the colour stayed in somehow though.
I started having tattoos 14 years ago my dad was heavily against them didn’t like any type of tattoo then my mum got a few well this year me my mum and my dad all got tattoos on the same day so I managed to convince him in the end that it’s not a bad thing at all.
Man im so happy that even tho my mom doesnt like tattoos terribly much she just gives me a disapointed sigh and a "i mean i guess its done very well just dont get more" everytime i get a new tattoo but she never freaked out as i think at this point she knows that she cant stop me. she didnt even freak out when i got my hand tattooed and now she actually wants to get a tattoo herself so ehehe

He said it was because he was tattooing on top of a long muscle and it gets irritated in a way and plus I’m paler and have thin skin so the nerves made my leg jerk.
Omg happened to me too on the backside of my thigh, the tattooing wasnt that painful but my leg started shaking and i could not controll it :D

I just got my first lower leg tattoo on my inner ankle, my foot was going crazy!!! My leg would jerk, my calf muscle was twitching a lot. I felt so bad, turned out great though. Legs are weird

When I first started getting tattoos, one of the first things I wanted to do was get something over my SH scars, I went to some of the longest running tattoo studios and got turned down by every single one (ironically most are now shut down because they were like the Freemasons guy where it's all men in the studio, only want to do their own flash, which is fine but eh), I just wanted linework over it. So for years I just never asked again, I go to the same two artists for all my work, brilliant and talented ladies and I just enquired with my usual lass and she was like 'yeah, let's do it!'. One night she put a design on her instagram and because I couldn't sleep, it felt meant to be as my arms are all linework animals. I knew that was the one. Zoe at Curiosities is amazing.
I love when I find new amazing artists thru this series like that wholesome artist with the self harm scars.
I keep forgetting some parents are really strict, I have a few and my parents haven't hated or reacted badly to any of them. Some friends of mine are like "I wonder what they'll say" and I'm like??? When I got my newest I sent them a gc message and was like "getting a tattoo tomorrow if anyone wants to chip in"
I always used to say in my teens I’m getting a tattoo, Mum used to say I can’t stop you when you are old enough but just think about what you are getting! She was right of course! I have six tattoos now at 48, all smallish and only one on my inner wrist is particularly visible. I actually paid for my Mum to have a tattoo for her 60th which was a bit of a turnaround! My last tattoo I had done at end of the first lockdown and she paid half! Funny how things turn out x

My mom was shocked when she first saw mine.(it’s a yin-yang with scorpions instead of the dots… surrounded by a fire/water burst)…it’s now almost 25 years old and beyond saving… the color is still pretty solid… but the black /skin tone areas are blown out and virtually unrecognizable.

I came in to my artist to get a tiny matching tattoo with my mom. He treated me so well and his portfolio was so nice I ended up getting 3 huge expensive pieces and am working with him on a sleeve. always be nice regardless of the tattoo (as long as its not hateful)
I was tattooed by Jamie a few months ago for a big piece of my thigh and honestly, it was the best experience I've ever had when getting tattooed! I felt so comfortable and the tattoo came out great! 😅

I’ve had my left shoulder tattooed and that was not fun, pain wise. I can’t imagine getting my whole back done in one go. All I have to say is ouch, and I admire this guy’s pain tolerance. Also the tattoo looks cool.
In regards to parent's reactions, my mother gets mad, then gets over it, occasionally spouts out an "ugh" and "how can you do that to yourself?"

I 100% agree that the client is responsible for knowing what they get tattooed on them. You are given the chance to check the design and the placement before work even begins. When I got my cats names I was asked to write thier names and still double checked the spelling before work began.

I got my septum pierced as a fully grown woman who already had a professional job. My employer was not bothered by my piercing. My mom’s reaction?
“Omg, omg is that real?!?! Omg omg I’m going to throw up!!! omg this is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.”
My response “glad to hear me dropping out of college has been downgraded” (went back to finish my degree a few years later before I got this piercing).

I had a tattoo booked for January but had to cancel because I became homeless 😭 I’m now in temporary council accommodation waiting for suitable permanent housing (I’m disabled so it needs to be accessible). Hoping I’ll be able to get rebooked ASAP but it’s going to take so long to save up for it now. It’ll be worth the wait though!

Just a tip to help you remember which way videos will be on screen for us - it’ll always be the same way you see it on your phone. since you don’t mirror the video when you put in the clip, it should always be the same sides as you’ll see. I edited a lot for college and I hope that helps!
My mom actually got me my first tattoo as 21st birthday gift and I just got my 7th tattoo recently. The only thing hate about getting tattooed is the single needle liner for lettering and for white highlights.

I started having tattoos 14 years ago my dad was heavily against them didn’t like any type of tattoo then my mum got a few well this year me my mum and my dad all got tattoos on the same day so I managed to convince him in the end that it’s not a bad thing at all.
Man im so happy that even tho my mom doesnt like tattoos terribly much she just gives me a disapointed sigh and a "i mean i guess its done very well just dont get more" everytime i get a new tattoo but she never freaked out as i think at this point she knows that she cant stop me. she didnt even freak out when i got my hand tattooed and now she actually wants to get a tattoo herself so ehehe
