    People in need of repentance are initially besieged with guilt. They sometimes lie to themselves until the guilt quiets down. Sometimes they confess their sins to others, anyone who will listen, and again feel better temporarily. They can go a long time (becoming angrier and angrier) without understanding why they are unhappy. Guilt is a gift from Father. Facing guilt quickly and repenting brings peace, unknown to those who refuse to repent. Most likely these are the people who hope for no conditions on love. An understanding of, and faith in a Savior that loves us can stir us to repentance and a realization of the beauty and peace of forgiveness. When our hearts are fell of peace and love we can be grateful for a Just God.

    I love this lesson! There are conditions, and we need to be aware of them! Wow, who would you give the keys of the kingdom to? That is a powerful thought! Love it! Thank you! ❤

    “If we love people we hate sin and we declare repentance and declare Christ!” So good Lili! That is following the first and second commandments. It was so powerful when I heard you say it in your closing remarks, because it’s true.

    51:54 I just got back from serving as an ordinance worker at the temple and I thought, “heck ya, I wanna be like the people I hang with.” Maybe not every person I hang with but the people i hung with today for sure.

    We are saved by faith, not of ourselves. Jesus gives us the gift of faith, Ephesians 2:8, this is the only way we can be saved, it is through Him, His WILL works through us. Once we are saved, we learn to love Him with all our hearts, mind and soul, we then want to make Him happy, by this love we become more like Him, there are no conditions, it is called love., this is how you become more like Him.

    I just went and read some of the comments on the Shawn Ryan show John Burke interview, its episode #111. The few that I read were dreams of death and darkness, its quite moving to read of peoples experiences like this especialy after this past gen conference and listening to this lesson on Alma5-7. I also listened to the "Spiritual Survival" channel episode about gen conferennce and unbelief around miricles. This is quite interesting. Sister Anderson im glad I discovered your channel, I love hearing your perspective ❤️

    I think saying the BOM is a slanted record is a step toward apostasy

    Being chastened by God is a sacred experience - but personally, I wish I had been more diligent so that He hasn't felt the need.

      We all fall short and, even with great diligence, the Lord adds refinement. It's definitely meant to stretch us :).

    I enjoy your podcast so much. I had a class from you at BYU back in 2003. Daily I use principles I learned from you and other principles I understood at a deeper level because of the way you taught them-so relatable for me. I love being able to learn from you again! Do you by chance know where I can find that John Taylor quote about our body being a record of our life?

    • @lilidanderson
      @lilidanderson  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From President John Taylor:
      “…I could show you upon scientific principles that man himself is a self-registering machine, his eyes, his ears, his nose, the touch, the taste, and all the various senses of the body, are so many media whereby man lays up for himself a record…” (Pres. John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, 26:32.)
      From Elder Bruce R. McConkie:
      In a real though figurative sense, the book of life is the record of the acts of men as such record is written in their own bodies. It is the record engraven on the very bones, sinews, and flesh of the mortal body. That is, every thought, word, and deed has an effect on the human body; all these leave their marks… (Elder Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, 97.)

    At 52:14 you mention a statement by John Taylor but you chose not to quote it this time. Could you give a reference for that statement please? And thank you so much for this discussion, it has been very helpful.

    Of course it's slanted, towards Christ Samuel the Lamanite would agree

    We already know the Lamnites view from their perspective .they were wronged in being forced to leave Jerusalem. And they were wronged in the wilderness. And they were wrong crossing the ocean. And they were wrong when Nephi left with their brass plates, already know their point of view. We also know that it was their desire to destroy their records of the Nephites . And also to kill them at or bring them into bondage. As they did the people in the land of Nephi. After king Noah’s death. We live in a culture that wants to protect the perpetrator. And punish the victim. In contrast to the holy scriptures. I bet even Satan has a different point of view. When we know what’s right. We don’t need to walk in the enemies shoes. To see how they feel.

      I love your insights this week and always. Thank you for having eyes to see the deception that surrounds us, and showing us the light and truth from the Book of Mormon. I love your wisdom and stories that make the scriptures pertinent to our times. Thanks for all your time and preparation. ❤
