Good vid mate - only thing others may not know or do (i asm sure you know) put as much kit as you can under the bed - rod sleeves - unhooking mate etc etc to trap air and stop the cold getting under you even with a ground sheet.

      Hi thanks for comment
pleased you mentioned it as I’d forgot that one ,
But it did do this on a spur of the moment 😂
I do do this but then I carry lots of kit these days so have to use every bit of the bivvy 😂
      Cheers👍🏼

Thanks for the tips... Couple of things I try to do in Winter, which I find helps me. First thing, always double check the swim for any possible trip hazzards, like tree roots or bits of metal work. Its wet and slippy in the dark in Winter and quite often you can be the only one fishing. Take a few minutes time in being safer.... Secondly. I find that its very easy to fall into the trap of just sitting in the bivvy. The less you move around, the less you feel like moving around. Every now and then, I just walk up the bank, looking for signs or checking snags for fish. Quite often wind in altogether and do a lap of the lake, before redoing the rods. It gets the blood flowing, warms you up a bit. Keeps you more in touch with the whole lake, instead of just what you can see through a letter box bivvy door.. Surprising how many times you find fish in the edge a couple of swims up. One fish sighting can change your entire Winter results.. And catching fish, or feeling like you are getting closer to a Winter result is the best way to keep your energy and enthusiasm up... I had Winters before, when I thought all the fish had migrated to another country. Sometimes, just seeing a couple is a real boost, if you're on a tricky water..

I always have a bivvy Matt, helps with the cold coming up through the ground, managed to ‘borrow’ a produce Matt from tescos, it’s massive, waterproof and green so it fills all the criteria with the carpy police, and keeps your toes warm and extends outside the door and under the bed chair.

Hi thanks for comment, I acquired something similar if you meet the Matt’s they have at the entrance to stores I use it in winter on longer sessions

Scrap the hot water bottle and get a heated sheet for the sleep system. absolute game changer as you can take the top layer off and save some weight too and still be toasty.

Hi thanks for comment, yes I do look at them before, but I’ve just bought a new bed with system so want to see how that goes first but definitely another option for those reading and watching

Where to start, some good advice there but first two was pointless when it comes the third point (sleep system/sleeping bag). The type of bivvy isn't going to protect you from the cold, wind yes, cold no. Secondly, size. Bigger isn't better in this situation, more space equals more cold spots, more space to heat up and further from the heat (top of your bivvy). Next the direction doesnt matter when you're going to be zipped up, if you're looking out on the lake in the day well you should have layers on and two summit to cover your face.

      Hi thanks for commenting
I don’t use all of them every time is just a quick some that you can use to help and was aimed at people who have not really fished much in the winter to help them find what suits them then they can decide what’s best for there style of fishing
Like I said in the video I’ve got mates who fish through out the winter and use hardly anything and me myself have fished with just a bed no bivvy quite a few times over the years
I guess we all have our own ways and styles and that’s what we all have to do is find what suits the individual best
      Cheers👍🏼

Sorry but you lost me at number 11. Head-torche with longbeam to see where you recast😮 What is with anglers these days that need to have a light for everything they do? Surely you've witnessed a couple of anglers in the swim chatting both with Head-torches shining all over the place as they move.
That was the only thing as for rest at age 65 in a couple of weeks you reminded me of my 45" umbrella weighed down by a smelly tarp laying on a nylon sun lounger in the 70's

    • @TymsCarpTv
      @TymsCarpTv  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi thanks for comments
Yes as I said I don’t use head torch that much and are always mindful of others on the lake, the spot I wanted to recast to was a very tricky one and there were no visible features in the night to see and had to be perfect the head torch for that is a zoom one so I can focus just on that spot to cast then turn off again
And yes had torches on for no reason walking round there swims chatting to each other looking all over the lake does my head in and is quite bad on a couple lakes I fish but what can we do😂
Yes mate back in the day beds and I won’t call them bivvys but make do shelters were very make do😂 shame I’ve not got any photos from some of the things Ive slept in/under as you know by the sounds of it
      Cheers👍🏼
