It makes sense as well. Humans today have some vestigial shit we don't really need anymore. Why would the evolution of Vampires be that different, if we shared a planet?
2:57 If you take a look at Zephon's "closed" face, the yellow... uhm... thing on his forehead makes much more sense. From an artistic point of view, I mean. The upper part of his skull structure forms "horns" and the yellow thingy is the "sun" (or "central object") as seen in ancient art styles. I guess, since Legacy of Kain as a whole takes a lot of inspiration from Egyptian mythology, it seems fitting.
As for the brightness. Yes developers upped their brightness so you could see the details more clearly. Playing the game will most likely be closer to the original darker environment.
I can see what you mean about the brightness in the banner of the SR2 scene, but overall I don't think you were fair. I mean, Melchiah looks fantastic and I dunno how you're getting a "cyborg" vibe from him. Zephon's yellow head spot is indeed larger than it the original but it is there. Also the head isn't a weakspot so your rant about making it easier doesn't make sense actually. Rahab's little legs were always there albeit barely visible in the original. You can say you simply don't like it and would prefer Rahab without it, but there's that to consider. If you're worried about being faithful we can't really complain.
Don't agree. The grey part on his face totally looks like metal so the cyborg thing is pretty intuitive. You don't know if Zephon's head isn't a weak spot. OG you just tossed the burning egg towards his general direction and it auto locked to the center of his body. Remake could add free look aim making his head a weak spot and the egg sack could have actual physics. "You can say you simply don't like it and would prefer Rahab without it." That is what he said. They didn't need to add a 3d model for the vistegial legs. They still look goofy af and should just be a texture like the OG. He was very fair in this video. He layed out what he didnt like and said why. What exactly do you want?
You complain about the Banners and the ground being to bright because it doesnt Cross your mind that the soul Reaver creates light now. It is so bright because the Soul Reaver is glowing now.
I like that the Wraith Reaver actually reflects a bit of light now, it's just a bit weird to me that, while the ground is clearly being affected by the light coming from the Reaver, Raziel on the other hand doesn't seem to suffer the same effects. Though I guess this remaster doesn't intend to bring in some global lighting effects, shaders, bloom effects and things like that. It would be nice to have that, maybe a mod could do the job. But yeah, lot of his complaints comes from either ignorance or false memories, Aspyr is going hard for the original designs and concept arts in this project, and we can clearly start to see that with the new trailer.
I think I agree with the author of this video, if it was the light from the reaver surely his scarf/head which is next to (and actually blocking) the light source would be brighter than the flag?
@@EdingardSIGMA well if that is the case it cannot be the "light from the reaver" as people are suggesting above. Crying? I think it looks fine and it's still in development. You might be projecting a little as you're the one typing in caps. Visuals are very low on my priority, i'd sacrifice it all for cut content.
Rehab has legs because before he was a fish he was a human. His vampiric evolution helped him overcome the acidic effect of water. So basically he evolved into part fish part vampire. His former human legs would still be visible because as you play you find his kin can also walk on land too.
I see an improvement over several issues, but I'm still not sold on the Rahab face. It looks WAY better than the previous one, but I don't understand why they can't get closer to the original look. At this point I'm not sure If I'll buy the game, I have to see if they made more changes like the altar statue in the rest of the game. I'll watch some gameplay at launch and then I'll decide.
Great analyses. I cant wait for these remakes to get released. I have awesome memories of playing the first one on my Dreamcast after my first child was born. Kain kept my wife and I company on many sleepless nights.
I once posted on another channel about Melchiah in the original Soul Reaver was horrific and if the game/series ever got remade on modern hardware, that he should ought to resemble something from John Carpenter's The Thing, I'm not disappointed. Thank You!
I saw it the first time I saw the trailer in my phone, and I saw it when I was editing the video, but not when I play it on my PC at fullscreen. I think the color of the iris is so light that it gets lost. I was going to included in this video but didn’t because I didn’t wanted to sound too picky, and my son didn’t see at first…now he does and he can’t unsee it as well.
"When we encounter Rahab in Soul Reaver, we see him in a devolved state-a representation of fallen characters in the world of Nosgoth. His body has adapted to his new, monstrous existence. But what does this transformation signify? The smaller legs are a critical visual cue reflecting his adaptation to the water-dominated environment where he resides." "Rahab’s small legs can be interpreted as a symbolic representation of his connection to aquatic life, emphasizing not just functionality but a deeper thematic meaning. In many ways, they mirror the design of various amphibious creatures, which rely less on their legs for mobility and more on the overall fluidity of their forms. This change highlights Rahab’s alienation from his former self, a creature once driven by noble goals, now reduced to a primal state."
What are you trying to do here? Sticking to minimalistic details to complain about, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the second trailer, you had some valid points for the first trailer, not only you but the whole community as well that's why they fixed it, rahab is amphibious in nature as he is a vampire, thus the legs, there are themes of evolution/devolution for Raziels brethren at play in soul reaver 1, same should go for zephron and his cyst I'm sure someone with some entomology knowledge would enlighten us, melchiah as you sure recall suffers from vampire leprosy his skin is falling apart that's why he sews corpses on him, the metal mask might just holding his face so it won't split apart.
That original design was dam near a deal breaker for me I honestly hated it. I’m glad it got fixed the only other thing I think they could fix are the soul reaver 1 pillars they look exactly the same as they did on ps1 they needed to be updated to look alittle bit more like the soul reaver 2 pillars add those symbols and if they can’t still clean them up add the gold trim to the symbols at the base of the pillars. Add better textures to the pillars themselves.
I feel so much better about the visuals after this update. I can't belive the hate your last video got. The original trailer was way off the mark. I still think they should have kept rahab's face more similar to the ps1 version though. I know it's a low poly mess, but you can see they went in a very different direction. But I'll take it; he looked like a spyro dragon in the announcement. THANK YOU FOR RELEASING ME. Also, Kain really does look freaking awesome
Rahab has vestigial legs in the original model too, the script also describes him having them.
My Thoughts, Exactly
It makes sense as well.

I came here just to find a comment like this. 👍🏻

OMG Kain looks awesome
Wow, you clearly have zero knowledge about art and lighting....

That is exactly what is going on!
Some people do not deserve to have a TH-cam channel, because all they will do is complain.

@@phillbaska The game is not using sophisticated lighting techniques, or ray tracing. STOP THE CRYING!!

pre-ordered and have it in my steam library just awaiting it to unlock and enter my chamber door. Playing this on the steam deck for sure.
