Hospital-grade pumps that you find in hospitals, etc., are actually serviced. For the Medela Symphony, being so expensive the company offers warranty with it; their mechanisms are fine tuned, parts changes, etc. So finding an old pump at a hospital, it was probably serviced and not in its original condition since after a certain amount of hours of pumping it stops working as well.
Your reviews are why I went with the lansinoh smart pump. And I LOVE it. 15 or so minutes double pumping and massaging and I'm empty. And the let down mode is great, I always get two letdowns. And what's even more amazing is my little one takes the lansinoh bottle great. So no transfer is ever needed unless I use my old medela manual pump which is only when I haven't washed my parts yet 😆
Thank you so very much for this. I’m pregnant with my 3rd and final baby. I pumped only a short time with my first. I don’t even remember the pump I had used. It was given to me and with my second one I don’t remember the pump I used. I loved it though. Now I’m just trying to figure out a pump that has really good suction and one I can be comfortable with.
My baby girl (her name is Remy!) was a 34 week preemie and is now 7 weeks old. We spent 12 days in the hospital, and I was spoiled with the Medela Symphony during our stay. My insurance only covered an Ameda pump, so that's what I used when we went home (I have the Ameda Purely Yours). Because of her preemie issues, I've been exclusively pumping and felt like the Ameda wasn't very efficient. I was spending nearly an hour pumping after every feed session, and still felt like I wasn't empty. I've resorted to using the hand pump that came with my Symphony initiation kit for the past couple of weeks. I think the hand pump uses the parts that would normally go with the Lactina. I've decided that since exclusive pumping is my breastfeeding journey, I need to buy a different pump out of pocket. I met with our lactation consultant yesterday, and she recommended the Medela PISA. I had my eye on the Sonata since I liked the Symphony so much, but it didn't seem like you had a great experience with it. What would you suggest? I want to order one soon because hand pumping 8-9 times a day is wearing on me. Thanks!
Aw momma your dedication is amazing! I hope your little Remy is doing amazing! That's the trouble with those manually adjusted pumps, they can slackers in the efficiency department! As for the pump, I would skip the Sonata. I too loved the Symphony and the Sonata is nothing like it whatsoever. The PISA is okay but I do feel like Symphony is gentler. I would look into the Lansinoh Smart Pump or Signature Pro. They're the same motor and the smart app is the only difference but the Signature Pro can be harder to find. I LOVE that pump because it's gentle when I need to be, high or low suction when I need with different frequencies to make it even more gentle on you. I found it to be the most efficient for me as well! Whatever you choose, I hope it works for you!
Hi, Alia. I'm attempting inducing lactation, and have questions about using a hospital grade pump as main stimulation to get me started. My questions are as follow, and would really appreciate any input or insight from your own experience using a pump to see if I'm on the right track or check for adjustments. Below are my questions: 1. When using the pump, what kind of sensations should I physically feel in order to know that my body is responding well? Should my breasts tingle afterward? Would random, tickly ripples be felt throughout the upper ribcage and breast area after pumping? Or would my nipples feel sore, and only that? 2. As far as intensity, how does the user determine what frequency will best work for them? Should it feel even remotely uncomfortable? Is a more gentle intensity better to properly stimulate? Thank you for your videos! They're very insightful, and I look forward to your next one! 💖
You wanna make sure you have other things in place before judging the pump on comfort. Things like flange size, lubing the flange, etc are also huge factors in comfort. Once you have those sorted, you can focus on just the pump. When using the pump you want it to stimulate milk without being in pain. Slowly work your way up with the suction, if you feel actual pain, lower it a little until it’s not there but you’re still getting milk out. And if your breasts are as close to empty as possible after pumping, then your suction is effective! Your nipples could be sore because you are having suck on your nipples which probably isn’t the norm but they shouldn’t be in pain, cracked or bleeding. That means something is off. Frequency will be again something that’s personal to you. I would start off just as the pump offers it. If you notice it takes longer to empty or you’re struggling to stimulate milk, I would play with the frequency. I hope that helps momma! You got this!!😊💕
Symphony for the win! I tried the pump once during an E.R. visit with one of my kids and really enjoyed the experience with it. Sadly my income doesn't allow for me to rent as the price where I am, like you is expensive. I've also used the Ameda Elite much to my dismay as it seemed like the hospital I birthed all my children in had their Elite's on their way out thus I wasn't able to express much of anything with it. The Elite is very similar to the Purely Yours also by Ameda just the Elite is muti-user where as the Purely Yours is not.
Great video! I just got the Spectra S2 with my insurance now to wait for baby to be born. The Medela PISA and Symphony ruined my nipples and Ameda was horrible for me. like you said preference over anything it is like a car :) I am just hopi g the Spectra will work out better for me this time around.
It sounds like the Spectra will be a lot better for you! Make sure to lube the tunnels with coconut oil for extra comfort! Hope your delivery goes well momma(:
How did it work out? I saw you posted 1 year ago. I pumped with both boys with the medela one... my nipples were ruined too. So so painful. Ugh I am trying to decide if I want to get the spectra s 1
@@juliakent2560 I recommend the lansinoh if you used the medela an I thought the same thing it pumped to hard but thisbis my sencond child an I love the lansinoh pump works amazing! Alot of settings makes it so useful 👍👍
I used a Medela Swing with my first & a Spectra S2 with my second. The spectra is better for me, but it does take longer to empty. I'd take comfort over time any day though.
New mom here. Thank you for making this video!! Picking a pump is overwhelming!!! I plan on both pumping and breast feeding. Which would you recommend between the Spectra S1 and the Medela Freestyle. I like to not have to be plugged in all the time because I will be returning to work with weird outlets in the area I would pump. I'm leaning towards Spectra because it's a "closed" system. The thought of bacteria getting stuck in the tubes freaks me out. How much longer is a pump session with Spectra compared to Medela? Also- what bags would you use to store milk in for Spectra?
I would go with the Spectra S1! They’re both closed systems actually and have rechargeable batteries. But for longevity and durability I’d go with the Spectra still since it also has the other features (:
Thanks for the review! It has helped me narrow down my options.... my current insurance is giving me the option to choose from 4 diferent pumps. And as a first time breastfeeding mommy Its a bit overwhelming deciding on which one to choose. Have you used or heard reviews/comments about these pumps?? Also what would be the one you most and least recomend for me to use?? Thanks soo much! And any feedback will be much appreciated! 1. Tomy Quiet Expressions Plus™ Double Breast Pump (TOMY TFY6228) 2. Lansinoh Smartpump™ Double Electric Breast Pump (LAN53116) 3. Ameda Finesse™ Double Electric Breast Pump with Dottie Tote (101A07) 4. Spectra 9 Plus Advanced Portable Breast Pump by Spectra Baby USA (JHSP10L1) By the way, I have the Medela Pump in style I recieved as a gift so I would like to get something that’s a bit different, that way I have more options and have a back-up pump.
So I am at 17+4 weeks with my first child. I am planning on breastfeeding. I have watched a few of your videos and just love the info you give. I seem to have sensitive nips every now and then, but don't know if that will go away. my insurance will cover 10 different electric pumps, but might (if I qualify) later cover a hospital grade pump. There are many factors on qualifying for the hospital grade. One questions is should I wait until I deliver to see if I qualify for a hospital grade or go ahead and get one now so I am not having to wait? My next question is which pump is preferred out of this list? Ameda Mya, Ardo Calypso, Evenflo Deluxe Advanced, Freemie Independence, Lansinoh Smartpump, Lansinoh Signature Pro, Medela Pump in Style Advance, Spectra S2 Plus, Minuet, Zomee. I also have the option of getting the Spectra s1 as a $75 upgrade. I should also note that I would prefer one that has a battery pack because I am a housecall groomer and my husband and I are very active people and like to hunt, camp, and fish.
Help please!! Having another baby after 6 years, and 6 years ago I had preemie twins. Then I used the symphony and LOVED IT! Then used a harmony hand pump and a PISA. I loveddd the letdown buttons on the Pisa. I was an overproducer with my boys and I don’t think I have sensitive nips. I can’t figure out which ones to get this time. Everyone is saying three are getting more milk from the spectra after switching. I had tried sooooo hard researching and I want a pump as strong or as close to true symphony that I can possibly can. I plan on breastfeeding, but I want to pump as well to donate to NICU babies. Please help. I’m shocked that you recommend the lansihon(sp?) because no one has even mentioned that one. I want a powerful pump, but I’m nervous that spectra will be complicated because the PISA was easy, but I heard it was better, but idk anymore. I have been trying to figure it out for months and I need to decide. Tia ❤️❤️
Honestly if you know that the PISA worked for you and was comfortable with you, I think I would stick with that. The Spectra is WAY gentler than the PISA so you may find that it doesn't feel right if you're fine with how the suction felt on the PISA. I love the Lansinoh and would recommend it over the Spectra for most people. You included it sounds like. I hope you find one that works for you and all goes well momma!
I personally think the spectra gets more milk out faster and is more aggressive on the nipples than the medela. Used medela with my first and prefer the spectra more for my second I just wish it was more like the medela in the bag. If I have another baby I'd definitely checkout the lansinoh. Also can't wait to see real moms review the new willow pump that thing will be game changing if it works good.
This is exactly what I was talking about! Breast pumps feel so differently to everyone, we need to come up with a breast pump trial system or something LOL. I'm glad you found what worked for you! It does look really cool (although I do have some gripes about it) and I'd love to see what mommas have to say!
Thanks for the review and all your videos. Have you ever heard of/ used pump called PJ’s Comfort by a small company Limerick, Inc. Their patented pump that uses "both compression and vacuum" with silicone flanges is supposed to be game-changing. Currently, I have a Medela pump in style advanced from my first LO but it is pretty painful - I use Pumping Pals flanges that helped some. I was hoping you might know whether the PJ’s Comfort is as the name implies.
Happy to help! I have heard of PJ's but I've never had the chance to try them unfortunately. If you're able to get a new pump through your insurance (most have a one per pregnancy or year policy), I would check out the Spectra or Lansinoh electric pumps! They have good suction but delivered in a much more comfortable and gentler way than the Medela. Also check out BeauGen nipple cushions. I LOVED mine! Seriously feels amazing and you just use them on the normal plastic flanges. Here's my review of them if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/pcJP_FPE0hE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the reply! I am definitely going to give the BeauGen nipple cushions a try and I will probably go with the Lansinoh Smartpump -from your review it has a number of features I think I will find useful.
Hi I'm a first time mom and trying to choose between spectra 9 plus, ameda mya, and lansinoh smartpump 2.0. Which one would you better reccomend?? Thank you.
I used the medela pump with my first daughter .. And thank you for posting this video I got the lansinoh becuz of you saying how great it was! An I agree!! This pump has been amazing!! I wish i had it with my first i love love love it!! So i just want to say thank you so much for this video!! Anyone looking for a good pump trust me! Lansinoh!! Best pump ever!! #working&pumpingmom
@@mase202 hi 😊 i would say the lansinoh was easier to use, it was gentler on my breast. I feel like I was able to flow better when I was using the lansinoh then the medela pump. I feel like another thing I really liked was when I was cleaning the lansinoh parts I was able to get in the grooves because all the pieces actually came apart. Although there were more parts it was way easier cleaning took less time then Madela's parts. It's extremely portable. And I'm a working mom so i used it out side my house alot! I hope this helps.
So my insurance will cover the Ardo essential pump kit and the Medela pump in style pump. Do you suggest one or the other? I am a new mom and have NO experience with either. (p.s. your posts are so helpful, thank you!)
I got about the same with all pumps except for the Sonata and Ardo which I got less because I was in pain :/ I get the best, fastest and most consistent with my Lansinoh (:
@momma alia Thanks for that response I have the Madela pump in style and it takes me at least 15 mins just get the flow going doesn’t matter whether my son is nursing on the other side or anything. And once I get it going I feel like I have to put it all the way up the suction if not nothing comes out. I take about 30-45 mins just on one side and because of that I don’t really empty my breasts 😩 thankfully never gotten any issues like mastitis or something like that. I’m going back to work soon and need another pump that will empty me quicker been on the fence about the lansinoh smart pump bc the manual one didn’t work for me or idk if I just don’t know how to use it but I am definitely going to give it a try thanks !
Thanks for the great review! My insurance is letting me pick between the Hygeia Enjoye, Pump in Style (not advanced) and Spectra s2. What do you think about the Hygeia? There aren’t many reviews.
I got the Hygeia EnJoye through insurance and just bought the Lansinoh smartpump and really enjoyed the let down button on the lansinoh since I didn’t have to be adjusting through out my session if I was using my hygeia. I finished around the same time and got the same amount of milk as well.
Hey, thanks for this video. Super helpful. I love my spectra but I feel like i need a stronger suction. I’ve tried the medela pump in style and I feel like my spectra does a better job at emptying me. Would you say Lansinoh is an option for me? I just don’t want to purchase a pump if you think I shouldn’t. I’m open to other suggestions as well.
Hi Alia, I am a first time mom, expecting our baby girl in June and already have an spectra s2. My insurance covers the following pumps: . Ardo Calypso Essentials to go. . Medela Pump in Style Advance. . Spectra s1. . Medela Freestyle I will be only using the breast pump to bring to work about two times per month, I want to also take advantage of the free pump through insurance to have a back up in case breastfeeding goes south. Upon a loss we suffer a couple years ago I think I may have sensitive nipples because the morning after having a D&C my breasts were super engorged to the point that I had to use a manual lansinoh pump and it was torture and I didn't get much out. Again, I don't have any experience with pumping nor breastfeeding so the discomfort I felt may have been due to a number of things related to my inexperience. Given this information, what breast pump would you recommend for what I need? Thank you for in advance for your time.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m a first time mom. My insurance covers both the medela symphony and the lansinoh smart pump. I’m torn between thinking I need the hospital grade bc, well it’s hospital grade! But I also know that I PLAN on breastfeeding mostly and pumping occasionally. My nipples have never been very sensitive and haven’t been my entire pregnancy. So with that being said, which of those 2 do u recommend?
Momma Alia They’re actually covering the machine itself, not just rental! It doesn’t include the double pumping kit tho so that would be a separate purchase. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for being such a supportive partner! If she seems to have sensitive nipples or doesn’t need a super high suction level the Spectra will probably work well for her! However if she does need higher suction or isn’t sensitive, I’d try the Lansinoh!
If I am planning on exclusively breast feeding, how long should I pump after leaving the hospital. Do you suggest keeping a pumping although I plan on EBF?
If you have to return to work I would start pumping about 3-4 weeks before your return. Starting out I would pump after only 1 nursing session and slowly progress that over the weeks. Too much of an oversupply can damage a good nursing relationship so it's a delicate balance. If you don't have any anticipated time you'll spend away from baby, I would wait until 6-8 weeks postpartum before doing what I mentioned(:
Hi Alia, I am using medela and Phillips avent storage containers to store my pumped milk but when I transfer into my feeding bottles creamy milk residue gets stuck around the bottle. You mention in your other video that you would try to get it off, if I don't do so is my LO missing any of the good stuff? Now I'm worried that she's not been getting the nutrition she needs...
Oh no, she's still getting what she needs! But I would encourage to try to get that extra fat off the sides. You work so hard for it and it does offer extra nutrients(:
Hi I've been watching a lot of your videos and still have questions. My insurance is covering the following breast pumps - Motif Twist, Medela Pump in Style, Lasinoh Signature Pro, Unimom Zomee and Ardo Calypso. I'm leaning towards a closed system, but there are still so many options to pick from. Which one would you recommend?
hi. which spectra so you recommend 1 or 2? or another pump version from spectra?. I'm exclusively pumping and find medela freestyle takes more time and not enough suction. I went for this because I used medela symphony in hospital and it was awesome but same cant be said for the freestyle. please could you let me know. do you have video on spectra 1 vs spectra 2. I'm just so frustrated by the freestyle even with parts connected properly it would be low suctioning. end up returning. would appreciate your reply many thanks
Hey momma! I’ve only ever used the S2 from Spectra. However everything is the same on both pumps with the exception of the rechargeable battery on the S1. It sounds like from your comment that the rechargeable aspect is something you might have been looking for. For that reason I would suggest the S1 for you!
my insurance will cover a breast pump at 100% i do not work i stay at home, these are my best options that are covered Medela pump in style, the NEW ameda Mya which claims to be hospital strength, but is really small and compact, Lansinoh smart pump and signature pro, and the spectra s2plus, and spectra 9plus, and also the ardo calypso essential....... out of these which would you choose?
The Ameda is tempting since it’s new! But I haven’t used it and haven’t heard much about how it is so I can’t recommend it right now. Also, Lansinoh is still my top favorite. Id get the SmartPump as long as it’s no extra cost as it does come with extra features. If it is though, get the Signature Pro. They’re the same motor but different add-on features!
Hey I already have a medela PISA that I used with my first baby and I’m having a bother baby in April. I’m planning on getting the spectra S1 with my insurance but also want a small portable pump, would you recommend the spectra s9 or lansinoh smart pump for that?
Hey momma! Well I’ve never tried the 9+ so I’d have to say Lansinoh. It’s small and portable too but packs all the power of a typical pump. It’s my favorite!
Momma Alia thanks so much! I found the lansinoh on sale on amazon for $100 so I went ahead and got it! You should do a review on the s9+. I’m curious to see how it compares to the s1 and s2.
When you say you have bought/sold used pumps are you talking solely about multi-user pumps? Do you think it is safe to use a single-user pump that was used if the pump parts have been sanitized? Or do you just buy new pump parts and re-use the motor only?
+Megan W The only true multi-user pumps are hospital grade and I’ve never bought/sold those. I’ve only bought and sold single user pumps. I don’t think it’s the safest and best decision to buy a used pump but considering the need vs the access, it’s a necessary evil. In order to have women not do this, breast pumps would need to be affordable and not so expensive. With that being said, obviously I’m okay taking that risk personally. I ask specific questions, buy all new parts and inspect the pump when I get it to make sure I’m comfortable with it🙂
We're 16 months in breastfeeding and I'm getting a little tired of nursing, but I want to continue giving her breastmilk, so thought about starting to pump, is it to late?
Absolutely not momma! You should be able to transition to EP as long as you pump as frequently as your little nurses, empty your breasts each time and make sure you have the right flange size! And Abigail is right, I do have a video on how to transition (:
Ok so if u had to chose between avent single comfort pump vs lanisoh double signature pump, which would u choose.?trying to increase milk productiin and exclusively pump.daughter wont lattch .i want somethig that would last as i cant afford to buy a new one,so buying preloved bd wont have waranty(both are in good condition ).i need durable, good suction ,dobt really mind single or double pumping.
I was looking to join the bbb group on Facebook. I see that there's a disclaimer, saying that I have 24 hours to answer some questions. How do I answer the questions? I have no clue where they are.
+Angelica Perezbernal it can be, just be careful! I believe if you have the serial number you can call Medela and make the sure the pump wasn’t stolen. Triple check everything before doing it!
Which pump would u recommend for one with bigger nipples?I use s1 for my first and I had to get the biggest flange. Still in the end I just did hand expressing which was fastest but this time I'm looking to try other more effective pumps.tks.
It's not necessarily the pump that would be the issue but the size of your flange. I'd recommend to get your flange sized and my favorite pump is the Lansinoh SmartPump!
@@MommaAlia I watched yr review of that pump! The price point is really attractive but can I replace with spectra parts like membranes and backflow protectors?because the parts are not readily available where I live.
Have you tried the Spectra 9 Plus? I am currently trying to decide between the Spectra 9 Plus, Medela Pump in style advanced and the Motif Duo Double Electric breast pump. This will be my second time attempting to breastfeed (I had issues with my supply the first time around and stopped producing after a month). I had a Playtex Nurser back then (5 years ago) and it didn't do what I needed it to at all I think it only had 3 settings. I really like the idea of the 9+ and the Duo being rechargeable and portable. Any information/input is appreciated!
Nope, I haven't had a chance to test that one out. I'm hoping when we have another kid, I'll be able to! If you like the portability aspect, I would go with the Spectra or Motif! I can't speak to the Spectra obviously but the Motif is awesome!
Ok thanks! I was hoping one of those would be a quick and wireless option for my middle of the night pump. My LO only feeds on one side at for that feeding (snack time I guess lol).
Peggy Gabaldon I've used the evenflo single electric. It worked great with batteries but it was VERY loud. If you're looking for a wireless option i suggest a manual pump. They're really great.
Bryanna LaValley thanks! Glad to know that it's loud, that makes it a no for me. I have a manual pump, just looking for something a little easier than my medela or S2 and faster than the manual.
Would you recommend the freestyle by Medela as a good recommendation for first time moms? I was going to get the lansinoh but I like the freestyle as well and they seem almost comparable?
I haven’t tried the EvenFlo. I don’t see how it could be the same since they’re separate companies and the pumps don’t look similar but I’m not for sure on that!
+Lekika Porter It's about 5-6 inches across, 3-4 deep and and probably 4 inches thick. It's not very big at all. I have her bag made for a pump in style advanced and it's smaller than that opening🙂
Awesome! Thank you so much. I'm getting a Medela PISA from insurance but was able to pick up a Lansinoh Signature Pro for $40 at my Walmart on clearance! I'm feeling excited and ready to start my breastfeeding journey.
Now that you’ve tried the motif duo, would you add it to this list? Would you recommend the motif duo for someone pumping 8 times a day for relactating? Also, have you tried the spectra s9?
I have a full review if you're interested in all my thoughts but basically I thought it was all right. It took double the time for me to empty and I would rather just bring another pump and get it done quickly. But I would recommend it if you needed to be cordless(:
Hmm weird that you mention the Medela has stronger suction. It goes up to 250 mmHg when the Spectra S1 goes up to 300 mmHg (more than both the pump in style and freestyle). Is there something I'm missing??
Lansinoh doesn’t make that size but Spectra does. I’m not sure 100% if it would work but there’s a good chance you could use the tubing of the Lansinoh and just use Spectra flanges. Hope that can be a solution for you!
Hello thanks for sharing, what Warner do you use to warm your breast milk? And do you know of any warmer that will allow you to place the frozen milk directly in it to thaw and warm? Thanks!!
I haven't used many and the ones I have were kind of meh. I plan to try some out with my next baby but that won't be for awhile. I hear amazing things about the Lansinoh manual pump!
Aw that makes me so happy to hear! I'm so glad you guys are loving it(:

So happy to help momma! Good luck, you got this!!(:
Good to know! So glad you didn't do what most women do these days and just say "spectra!" Like its the only pump out there lol!
I can see how it's appealing to some but just like with everything else in life, it isn't for everyone (:

+sw33tnycandy I wish I had the money for a Symphony! It's amazing!
Yes! I totally agree with you on that one.
It's all preference though, moms need to know this!
I totally agree! Totally depends one each momma!
1. Tomy Quiet Expressions Plus™ Double Breast Pump (TOMY TFY6228)
2. Lansinoh Smartpump™ Double Electric Breast Pump (LAN53116)
3. Ameda Finesse™ Double Electric Breast Pump with Dottie Tote (101A07)
4. Spectra 9 Plus Advanced Portable Breast Pump by Spectra Baby USA (JHSP10L1)
By the way, I have the Medela Pump in style I recieved as a gift so I would like to get something that’s a bit different, that way I have more options and have a back-up pump.
Lansinoh, Lansinoh, lansinoh!!! My absolute favorite!! Least recommended would be the Tomy. I’ve heard not so great things about it:/
So I am at 17+4 weeks with my first child.
I bought a second hand medela symphony..paid only a couple of months worth of rent money
I hope it works well for you momma!
Momma Alia thank you!
Literally so helpful! New mom and you gave me information on a little of everything. Thank you!
Happy to help!
Just an FYI guys if you order from the breastfeeding shop there’s no upgrade for the spectra S1.
Thanks for the info!
Definitely wish there was a way to try them out before deciding, trying to decide between the lansinoh and medela swing for portability and ease
Wow I didn’t know the spectra was same in suction as the Medela in style
Thank you.
Just an FYI accordance with the Affordable Care Act, all insurances offer no cost breast pumps
Unfortunately not all do but most do!
Mine only included a manual breast pump
Love this video! Been wanting to know your opinion on this topic forever! thank you!
Thank you for this video! I always love watching them!!
I love making them!(:
I used the medela pump with my first daughter .. And thank you for posting this video I got the lansinoh becuz of you saying how great it was! An I agree!! This pump has been amazing!! I wish i had it with my first i love love love it!! So i just want to say thank you so much for this video!! Anyone looking for a good pump trust me! Lansinoh!! Best pump ever!! #working&pumpingmom
Yay! So happy to hear you found a pump you love momma! That's so important!
Caitlyn Patten hi i have low milk , first baby 3 weeks old can you tell me why you didnt like the medela compared to your lansinoh?thankyou
Caitlyn Patten thankyou!
So my insurance will cover the Ardo essential pump kit and the Medela pump in style pump. Do you suggest one or the other? I am a new mom and have NO experience with either. (p.s. your posts are so helpful, thank you!)
Thank you for watching and I'm happy to help! I would go with the Medela(:
hi Alia
do you think that you can compare the pump output for each one? i would really appreciate it
I got about the same with all pumps except for the Sonata and Ardo which I got less because I was in pain :/ I get the best, fastest and most consistent with my Lansinoh (:
The Hygeia is good, as long as you're familiar on how to work a manually adjusted electric pump. If not, I would skip it and get the Spectra S2!
I got the Hygeia EnJoye through insurance and just bought the Lansinoh smartpump and really enjoyed the let down button on the lansinoh since I didn’t have to be adjusting through out my session if I was using my hygeia. I finished around the same time and got the same amount of milk as well.
I know this is old, but I actually got better output with my Hygeia Enjoye LBI than the Medela Symphony. It matters how your body works
My daughter was given a Motiff Luna through her insurance, I was thinking of buying her a Medela freestyle flex. What do you think ?
Hey, thanks for this video. Super helpful. I love my spectra but I feel like i need a stronger suction. I’ve tried the medela pump in style and I feel like my spectra does a better job at emptying me. Would you say Lansinoh is an option for me? I just don’t want to purchase a pump if you think I shouldn’t. I’m open to other suggestions as well.
Happy to help momma! I would say try the Motif Luna. From what you’ve said it sounds like it’d be a great fit for you!😊
Momma Alia You’re amazing, thank you for getting back to me. I will definitely try it ☺️
Thank you so so much! I think I will get the lansinoh.
Hope you like it!
Pls suggest a portable one similar to Symphony’s suction pattern
Hi Alia, I am a first time mom, expecting our baby girl in June and already have an spectra s2. My insurance covers the following pumps:
. Ardo Calypso Essentials to go.
. Medela Pump in Style Advance.
. Spectra s1.
. Medela Freestyle
I will be only using the breast pump to bring to work about two times per month, I want to also take advantage of the free pump through insurance to have a back up in case breastfeeding goes south.
So sorry for your loss momma and congrats on your little one
Momma Alia Thank you so much for your reply and all of your videos they are very helpful. Keep up the good work 😀
Thank you so much for this video!
+Sharon Dickson if they’ll cover the cost of renting the Symphony, I would go with that!!
Momma Alia They’re actually covering the machine itself, not just rental! It doesn’t include the double pumping kit tho so that would be a separate purchase. Thanks so much!!
That's so awesome! Happy to help(:
Hi, I’m trying to choose between Medela Pump in Style Advance and Motif Luna. I was wondering which one you would recommend.
Motif Luna!
My wife is pumping every 3 to 4 four hours with a noname electric breast pump, what to choose between Spectra S2 and Lansinoh Signature Pro?
Hi Alia,
I am using medela and Phillips avent storage containers to store my pumped milk but when I transfer into my feeding bottles creamy milk residue gets stuck around the bottle.
Lansinoh!!
@@MommaAlia Thank you!
hi. which spectra so you recommend 1 or 2? or another pump version from spectra?.
My pump in style advanced stopped working at only one month of use.
I’d definitely call customer service! They can replace pumps in certain situations!
my insurance will cover a breast pump at 100% i do not work i stay at home, these are my best options that are covered Medela pump in style, the NEW ameda Mya which claims to be hospital strength, but is really small and compact, Lansinoh smart pump and signature pro, and the spectra s2plus, and spectra 9plus, and also the ardo calypso essential....... out of these which would you choose?
I ask specific questions, buy all new parts and inspect the pump when I get it to make sure I’m comfortable with it🙂
Thanks for elaborating! :) Throwing out a perfectly good pump just seems so wasteful to me.
We're 16 months in breastfeeding and I'm getting a little tired of nursing, but I want to continue giving her breastmilk, so thought about starting to pump, is it to late?
Kiara Brown
It's never to late to start pumping!
Kiara Brown She has a video on how to transition from nursing to exclusively pumping.
Lansinoh signature pro!
If u haad to chose between lansinoh compact single pump and avent single comfort pump.your pick?
Lansinoh!
This was so helpful thank you
Happy to help!(:
I was looking to join the bbb group on Facebook. I see that there's a disclaimer, saying that I have 24 hours to answer some questions. How do I answer the questions? I have no clue where they are.
KirtBean Same! I couldn't find them either.
They could come up in your notifications that you need to answer some (:
Would u reccomded the lansinoh pump for a working mom who pumps more than 4x a day?
Absolutely!!
Is it safe to buy a used a medela symphony?? I've seen them on eBay, let go and offer up.
+Angelica Perezbernal it can be, just be careful! I believe if you have the serial number you can call Medela and make the sure the pump wasn’t stolen. Triple check everything before doing it!
Momma Alia thank you
Which pump would u recommend for one with bigger nipples?I use s1 for my first and I had to get the biggest flange.
Lansinoh 2.0 or motif duo?
Close one! Lansinoh!
Have you ever tried the NUK expressive single electric or the Evenflo single electric pump?
Nope, I haven't!
I wouldn’t. If you need a portable pump I would recommend the Motif duo. But the Lansinoh is far superior to the Freestyle in my opinion!
does the Lansinoh pump fit with Joovy glass bottles?
Yes ma'am!
Have you tried the evenflo is it same motor as lasinoh?
I haven’t tried the EvenFlo. I don’t see how it could be the same since they’re separate companies and the pumps don’t look similar but I’m not for sure on that!
Have you tried the FreemieUSA?
I haven’t, I’m sorry!
Dose anyone know the size of the Lansinoh Signature Pro Base? I have a EllaAlana bag and i'm wondering if the Lansinoh would fit.
Have you tried the Motif Duo double electric pump yet?
Sorry momma, I've never heard of that one!
Now that you’ve tried the motif duo, would you add it to this list? Would you recommend the motif duo for someone pumping 8 times a day for relactating? Also, have you tried the spectra s9?
I'm a new mom and I have the Medela freestyle. Any thoughts/opinions on that one?
I have a full review if you're interested in all my thoughts but basically I thought it was all right. It took double the time for me to empty and I would rather just bring another pump and get it done quickly. But I would recommend it if you needed to be cordless(:
Hmm weird that you mention the Medela has stronger suction. It goes up to 250 mmHg when the Spectra S1 goes up to 300 mmHg (more than both the pump in style and freestyle). Is there something I'm missing??
Nope, you're right & it's technically true. But I never found that to be what it actually felt like
Have you tried the freemie pump?
I have not but it’s on my list for next time!!
Is there a Manuel pump that you recommend?
I haven’t found one I like after trying many ☹️
I have the Lansinoh smartpump, but it takes me an hr or so to fully empty, is that normal or should I switch to the spectra/medela?
If you're single pumping, it may be. If you're double pumping, probably not. I'd try a higher suction or try the Medela Pump In Style Advanced(:
do you know what the sucking force for the lansinoh is?
Not off hand, sorry momma!
Does lansinoh have larger flanges (I need one side at 32)
Lansinoh doesn’t make that size but Spectra does.
Thanks!!
Philips Avent Bottle Warmer Premium

Ameda?😢
Sorry momma, I would recommend it!
Is there a manual pump you recommend?
I haven't used many and the ones I have were kind of meh. I plan to try some out with my next baby but that won't be for awhile. I hear amazing things about the Lansinoh manual pump!
Momma Alia you're so amazing, thank you!!!
