- Join me as I explain the up's and down's of my Beach Buggy (mainly downs). But it's all fixed up now and absolutely perfect, totally MINT! It's been proper hard work but finally I've been able to go on a long drive and really enjoy this totally cool classic car.

I always wanted to build one of those but the vw bit at the back always puts me off
They are just too expensive these days
I think that exhaust noise would be painful after a while

Thanks for sharing the journey and struggles of these old cars. Went through similar dramas with my VW type 3 fastback. After all the damn headaches and money, it's worth it though
Really should be a keeper...cos the times will always come around for that type of enjoyment...at that price..ahmm...no less...
Raffles are a great idea. If you split the money with a charity it a makes everyone feel great about themselves. I could win a car, you cover your costs and a charity gets some support. Make the tickets £2. Keep up the great work and honesty about how things turn out.

A few large Adel clamps and a large piece of plexiglass would solve the bug and wind problem. Also, a stronger rear axle to prevent wheel tilt.
Had my swb gp in 1988. Did it all in Coca Cola livery. It spent more time in bits than being driven. Still sold it for 20x what it cost. Best car financially I’ve ever owned
I was trying to explain how cool it is to drive, there’s just nothing else you can go in that’s close to the buggy. It’s ace!

I've just found this channel and have watched all the uploaded videos one after the other, I've really enjoyed them! Particulary like the honesty, the fails and the wins, the real things that can and will go wrong, the unforseen hurdles that need to be addressed... As someone with a fair amount of panelwork experience, I thought the lads were really brave to tackle the MK1 Escort !!! The Mini Camper looks great I'm sure that will sell easily, I think I was as gutted as them about the gearbox, can't wait to see it all sorted. Keep em coming boys!

(I call them the odd couple even though there’s often three of them) Keith is such a great guy with a hilarious sense of humour and Paul (the boss) is a real prima Donna and has to be in all the camera shots. I had one back in 89/90 with a 1800 engine running twin weber downdrafts, it went really well but I wouldn't have another one

Interesting yet odd snagging faults with the bug. Good to hear you kept your cool and got it sorted. Flat four sounds like he knows exactly what he's doing as opposed to the numpties engine rebuilders the first time around. Great looking car and worth all the hassle. Well done.

I find it hard to believe that a mechanic would use silicon on the case facings. You should use Wellseal which is a bit like Yamabond I used on the racing TZ engines. Zero leaks
I'd almost totally forgot about the buggy..! But wow, despite the down-time, what a beaut! A proper head-turner! Let's hope it's trouble-free now. Good job!

So question? All the parts failing like the HEI distributor are they by chance the cheep Asian Amazon/Ebay crap? I have to say Man! That thing pops sharp looking! I know its all personal preference but I would have went back with a windscreen and Black frame on it. But would left wipers delete as you did.
Yes all eBay crap unfortunately, went through a few rubbish parts last year even on the mini I did. Only thing with keeping the screen you need to have wipers and washers.

That buggy came out beautifully, the two of you make a great team, but I was wondering? if the 2 of you worked on it 40 hrs a week for 4-5 weeks what would the cost be then? Not trying to be a smarty and I know you never get your hours paid for, but just wondering. Nice of you to raffle it off too. Ten out of ten for perseverance . It is not my cup of tea and the noise would drive me mad . How about doing a pre war car then you and Keith do Lands End to John O'Groats in it may be a Morris Eight series E with a series of videos using no motorways only the roads there in 1939 staying in pubs along the route .
