I remember the allegations of this game being dubbed the Halo killer. I remember the hype behind it and all the publicity it got. I remember playing this game and looking for something to validate that claim; I found nothing of the sorts. But what I did find was something far better. I found deep rich gameplay mechanics and so much potential. I found a multiplayer experience that was the best that I had played on the PS1. This game was no Halo killer, but it was ambitious. It remains a classic.

COD IW probably can't even lift a finger to at it. IW is too much black and white while KZ try to stand in the shades of grey. Had IW took the grey route, the SDF wouldn't be one dimensional villains and have a really solid excuse why they want independence from Earth and they try to justify their actions of doing so and Earth is not a goody two shoes, as it may use military actions in the name of security and stability and may have influenced by those who profitting from the hard labour of the colonists who claim that they're treated like third class citizens.
Better graphics doesnt make a better game, Killzone on PS2 will ALWAYS be my favorite from them all
to be fair, for the ps2 this game must have pushed that console to it's limits considering how nice it looked...heck i think all the killzone games looked visually impressive for the consoles they came out on even the one for Vita now that i think about it (cant remember the PSP one much)
Killzone 1 was one of the best looking games on the ps2. The gameplay was also awful lol.
At least in 2 and 3 the shooting functioned properly and was fun.
I loved how many weapons there were and the special abilities they had.
Own A Hole the psp had Killzone Liberation and that was awsome to play
Killzone 2 was fucking amazing too. The graphics, the gameplay, the weapons and utility with the drones and stuff was really fun online. The problem was that not a lot of people had a playstation 3 at the beginning because it was expensive so a lot of people missed out....

I remember the preview on the official PS2 magazine and it lauded it for gathering influences from multiple wars and battles :The mall and urban level reminded Sajarevo (specially with the snipers ), the trenches reminded of WW I, the jungles of Vietnam.and back at these times, where futuristic FPS were colourful and that you could feel a lot of sci fi on them, it was nice to see a gritty,dark,grim and realistic one.I did love a lot the realistic firearms and the gameplay possibilities :D

The heights had only one other planet and that was Helghan, the dangerous irradiated planet we know. The Helghast are trying to get their home back from the ISA

The world premiere live performance of this was at the first JOYSTICK game music outdoor concert in Sweden, in 2006. Composer Joris de Man was present. 18 000 people in the audience. JOYSTICK later became SCORE with +50 millions of views of Skyrim, Zelda etc on TH-cam, but this was where we started!

Man I miss the old days. I still got my PS2 silver slim that I got for my birthday back in '06. Now I'm close to 20 and it's just collecting dust. Here are some of my favourite games at least: Ratchet & Clank series, Need For Speed series, GTA SA, Killzone, Lego STAR WARS, Lego Indiana Jones, SOCOM 3, Beyond Good & Evil, Sims 2, Shrek 2, Madagascar, Over The Hedge, Bard's Tale, Red Faction 1&2 and Crash Bandicoot Titans.

Best menu music ever in a FPS
For all the time I spent playing Killzone one, easily 1000+ hours, I can't say I remember this.. I can remember parts of but I can't remember the entire theme as whole, parts of it are completely new to me.
Yeah i love the original killzone too the original and the second both have amazing music and great gameplay.
Oh and by the way to hear the entire song you have to stay in the main menu for a long time to hear the whole song because the songs go in a cycle.

The helghast trooper in this game looks cool than the killzone 2 assault infantry. Especialy because this one has some cool camoflauge

Killzone would be a good TV show
The only things what held the 1st killzone back was the poor Ai, the story and the frame rate, If they had the AI down from the start witha solid framerate, I think this game could of been looked at more positively, The Online Multiplayer holds up really well because of feeling of being ina war with real people playing along as the Helghast and ISA
I hope some company makes a game where we can chose to be male or female and join either isa or helghan to reunite all of the helghan once more.
Emperor Visari was and stil is the sole hero of the helghast species.
