I'm a half hour in and damn are these hard! I can balance and keep cruising from a push off. But can't propel yet. Experience skateboarding, roller blading, snowboarding, and snake boarding has totally helped!
Im 29 and I just bought a pair. I havent been on a skateboard or rollerblades in years and was never great at those, just ok ( better at the blades than the board). These were a bit hard at first but after about 6 to 10 hours over the last 3 weeks I can get on them and push of myself and am able to get my own momentum. Just dont give up.
When I saw these, I wanted them straight away! I thought they were going to be like a ripstick (I have two) but they are nothing alike! Great fun though and I am determined to learn how to stake on them!
The in and out motion and pushing off the wall reminds me of learning how to skate backwards. Once you get the rhythm though, you wonder why it was so painfully hard for you get moving going backwards when you started off.
I bought these today from a friend (his uncle sells them), as soon as I got home I started practicing. At first I could barely move 10 centemetres and balance for barely 10 seconds. Now, I can balance and go all the way along the path at the front of my house, and sort of do the movement (in, out) with my feet. A few of my friends can ride them and a few others are learning. Once we can all ride we will make a TH-cam account and upload videos of us riding, doing tricks.
Freeline skates are amazing. They took me about three weeks to ride really good but honestly they are so worth it. I ride down hills now and turn heads. Seriouly buy them. Freeline GROM is one that I have. they are wood but made by the same people Sweet
time is exactly what it takes. I had the same problem. Certain places I rode well but on bad terrain I felt like I took a huge step back. But in time it's all the same(although smooth is just so much more fun)
i got a pair its loads of fun took me a whole month to learn but i didnt do them everyday so like it took me a combined amount of like 15 hours to learn thats just flat ground though. but its loads of fun when u get the in and out movement its all easy and if i wer to teach it all you have to basically do is just with wutever ur front foot is let it go in and out while ur backfoot just does the same thing ur front foot just did kinda like an echo.
@GlenwoodCorp nop, I rode a ripstick and have these and they are quite differente, on the ripstick you move your feet in vertical pendulum, these you have to move feet horizontal.
Dude Im left footed (meaning I ride with the right foot on front) will this work for me? Im planing on buying a pair but until I saw that theres a left foot right foot placement. Im having second toughts about it since I might not be able to ride this
FYI I got a pair 3 days ago and I've been able to go up a very gentle slope, which isn't so bad. It seems my balance sucks though, so I find it difficult to get going on bad terrain (e.g. the pavements of Dublin) without tripping off the skates, so I look pretty dumb. Guess it takes time!
Well, I called a few skate shops here and most had no idea what they are, so I got them on eBay... not too cheap either - about €110 including shipping from the UK. If you're in the USA it should be easier to get them though...
I am thinking about buying these to ride around campus. After ample practice, of course. My campus is a lot of uneven pavement, brick, and black top. How is the ride-ability on rough terrain?
can some one tell me whether or not these work while wearing a backpack? i'm an experienced caster boarder and i know i would enjoy these but i dont want to spend the money unless i can use them to get home from school. i like them becuz they're easily portable, but i'm worried extra weight will be too restricting to gain momentum. has anybody tried it?
180faky, practice! It's all about the movement. It's the same motion you use going slow. With more time on the skates it just comes naturally, and you begin to get more speed. Keep it up!
@MuZiCL0VA2009 I mainly like it because of the fact no one has ever heard or seen these before. XD I like doing new things to grab people attention you know? and Honestly, I mainly like it cause it's alot like surfing and snowboarding (two things that I can't quite do very often) so yea. : P so what kinda biking do you do? do you do any racing? If so, that's freakin sweet! :D
Ooh, LOL I was kinda hoping that there would be a place I could buy the molds and the griptape and nuts and bolts and just put it together my self xP Still would be expensive huh?
@WeThEgReEnPeOpLe I actually made a pair of them myself out of old roller blades that had a metal frame for the wheels, two 8th inch steel plates, some bolts and rivits, and griptape. :D And they work amazing! I made them for probably 20-50 dollars. ^_^ so it's possible! Just alot of hard work, measuring, and cutting and stuff. : P
This has been very helpful, but as someone trying to learn I feel a vital component is left out: how to stop or slow down if you get going way too fast. Right now, if a hill is too steep all I can do is bail.
+Cale Harnish Braking is like braking with a snowboard. Turn your feet so the that the skates are perpendicular as to where you are facing and pull your toes back and your heel down so the skates are touching the ground and not your heels.
got my own freeliners - still practicing - hard way to learn but a lot of fun - unique, crrrrrazy and here: a great, helpful introduction... thanks a lot, it helped me a lot... see me soon movin on freeliner - crazy scot joe "bazooka" heinrich on youtube
I´ve just bought my pair of theese. They are very difficult at the beginning, but then it´s just practice.
They are GREAT!

How is it going after 8 years?
@@icebear4president definitely fallen a couple times 😉
@@zmylee8957
wow you actually answered💙
I'm just so curious how these work, I want to try it😂
@@icebear4president it's difficult at first but with a little practice, you'll get there!
I've had a ripstik for a year now and I like it a lot. I just got some freelines today but I haven't mastered it yet. Just gotta keep at it.

took me five days to get going pretty good on these things. best investment ive ever made. i love these skates

Sweet
Thanks so much. I'm still having doubts but considering how much I love to casterboard, I'm sure I'll love these.
Excellent video!

You are a good man keep it going. Be safe and lets all have fun...

@MuZiCL0VA2009 awesome! do you guys put up any vids? seeing a bunny hop up 5 stairs would be sick!
wow i have just got my freelines and i thought they were going to be the same as a ripstick, nooooope

These look great! How much effort does it take to go uphill though?
Do you wear like the old school basketball shorts when you ride your nice little roller skates?
Well, I called a few skate shops here and most had no idea what they are, so I got them on eBay... not too cheap either - about €110 including shipping from the UK.

I might get these for Christmas, I used to rollerskate (about 4 years ago lol). Are they really worth it?
What if I Cut my Ripstick into a half? Do I have a home made Freeline Skate then?
i think it kinda helps if you already know how to ride a wave board or a ripstik
@nikke1024 since it's been 2 weeks, can u skate now? I too got them today....man this is hard but practice makes perfect!
they look really cool - wouldnt it be sooo much easier if they had straps tho?
good introduction for me. i'm just a beginner. Many thanks
i hell want some freeliners man!!
can u get them in australia???
can some one tell me whether or not these work while wearing a backpack? i'm an experienced caster boarder and i know i would enjoy these but i dont want to spend the money unless i can use them to get home from school. i like them becuz they're easily portable, but i'm worried extra weight will be too restricting to gain momentum. has anybody tried it?
how do you determine which foot is your backfoot?
for him, i see he uses his right leg as his back foot
Chur!!!!
just bought me a pair and cant wait till they get here
Yea you can use them with a backpack. my friend uses them to get around his college
180faky, practice! It's all about the movement. It's the same motion you use going slow. With more time on the skates it just comes naturally, and you begin to get more speed. Keep it up!
@vboy10 depends on where u life
cuz the prisec also whill be diferent
in holland they are only 47 euro but in usa they are 140 dollar so
learned how to ride in a day. just keep practicing and you'll get it. it's just a muscle memory thing
holy shizz!!!
my sis ordered some for me
imma get them soon hopefully!!!!!!!!!!! yess!!!
think of it like ur front foot leaves an invisible trail and u gotta let ur backfoot follow exactly on top of that trail to get the smoothest ride =3
i just got my pair and its super difficult, i hope i get better at it
Best video. Thanks!

Other tutorials be like
Push off a wall

hehe. nice question...
Another note: Isn't it important to protect the arms, knees and hands?! I know it looks silly, but isn't it important?!
@smj1441 sweet. i just got mine in the mail today :)
how far can you go now? :) learned to take speed/pump yet? :)
Ooh, LOL I was kinda hoping that there would be a place I could buy the molds and the griptape and nuts and bolts and just put it together my self xP
Still would be expensive huh?
ye, by em from the freeline website. or u can get em from manly skate
I dont get it do the wheel have to be in a row togather?

@Tiggy2708 i thought so too until i bought them and they are COMPLETLY different
how much are these skates and where can i get some?
@Luqita21 did you get them online??
Ahh, 240p, we meet again.
@AntiBlast where are u buying them
i bough tsome thjey havn't came but when you turn on flats you put front foot a little forward and the other will foollow
do you get speed wobbles when you go downhill??
Great video!!!
@ladymjackson001 I also ride goofy but am right handed. Just like surfing and skateboarding, do what feels natural
you have to purchase it online on their site.
+seandawg55 , it all depends on your leg strength and your grip to the skate.
okay i cant get any speed on flats how does that work
I think I may order these.
@WeThEgReEnPeOpLe I actually made a pair of them myself out of old roller blades that had a metal frame for the wheels, two 8th inch steel plates, some bolts and rivits, and griptape. :D

so it's possible! Just alot of hard work, measuring, and cutting and stuff. : P
but there has got to be a better way... i notice when i do that, it scratches the bottom plate. for faster speeds i know there is the power slide.

google freeline skates power slides
how much r a pair of these?
The buzzing sound when you switch from Scene A to B (etc) is really annoying. Please don't use that anymore.
Whats the name of the song?
@anibioman alot harder.....the ripstick or wave board is incredibly easy (in my opinion) to get the hang of..
Looks great :D

@Daa155 nah it's a different motion, it looks waaaaaay cooler, and is thousands of times harder. XD

Thanks, glad to hear it! Will keep at it then :)
sweet its been a week since i've posted this comment. I finally know how to freeline..wooo
Nice tips :)

You use the exact same technique you would use with snakeboard/streetboard to move with this.
this is kinda awesome
so exiting!
nice, a simple tut
It's not working out for me!! I spent 6h today trying it out but somehow it's not working out for me
Da loG mAn - how's it going dude? how many hours total have you practiced now?
