thank you!!! i have owned my freelines for almost 10 years and i have watched probably as many turorial videos as you have and i couldnt get the motion down. but i tried every time i had time to practice. Your tutorial helped so much.
Dude, big thank you from Hungary. And I mean BIG thank you. I had a quite serious knee injury, gained a lot of weight. All of the tutorials I found was telling me to twist my feet and so on. But to tip my toe to the ground and back, it looks like i could learn how to ride this god damn thing without killing my knee. Tomorrow will try again with your method, will post an update if you would like to know. More videos are welcommed :)
Thanks for this! I'm really not into sports (Badminton when I was younger. But well..) and I got this on a whim. I've been thinking of a hobby I can bring when I move to Japan and so I've been trying. Your tutorial was really helpful!!
nice tutorial! just an FYI for everyone, the company freeline isn't really doing anything and according to the original creator it was ruined, so if you can please buy from jmkride instead
or any other company works well, I just recommend jmkride because of their quality. plus the way they are made means they can't crack as much as the s shaped ones
yes, the company went bankrupt and they don't make anything anymore. all the ones you see now are the ones they previously made that has been bought by third companies to make profit.
yes, other company bought only their assets, not the company itself. they're just selling the assets they bought for profit. if they sell enough, they'll probably produce extra as needed, but i don't think the sport is big enough for them to make extra skates right now. But hopefully, the sport will grow, if people like you support other companies out there that still makes them instead of the one that is selling for profit.
wamsoon that's what I'm hoping, this sport has so much potential but it just isn't getting the publicity it deserves. anyways have a great day and keep up the good work!
How do you slow down if you are going down a steep-ish path? tried to head down yesterday but realized i didnt know how to slow down... i tried making smaller S's and kind of tripped over myself and wiped out. yikes. i then tried approaching it like a snowboard (just leaning to one side), felt kind of uneasy.
Thanks for the video. What do you think about the cheap freeline skates for learning? $40 seems a lot easier to spend than $100 or more for the name brand ones...
i actually learned how to ride with the cheaper freeline skates (with the 40 dollar ones). However, it'll take longer to learn (not by much). I had one of my friend try both of them out and he managed to learn how to ride the freeline pro before the cheap ones. He still has problems riding with the cheap ones, but he can ride the pro no problems. The bearings on the expensive model gives you more glide, so you won't need to make as big of a movement then you would on a cheap one. But all in all, yes! you can learn how to ride on the cheap ones.
with the cheap ones($40 or less), replace the bearings with some quality ones like redz($10 on amazon etc) and they will react a lot like the freeline ogs.
i just picked up the movement and can stay on with a push from the wall... but after i turn, i lose speed and cannot pick up speed with the S movement. instead it creates a lot of friction on the ground and causes my foot to move and flip the skate. any tips on picking up speed?
The one i'm using in this video is the PRO. There are also JMK rides (jmkride.com/) that are similar to freelines. Freelines went bankrupt, so they don't make those anymore (so get them while you can, they're pretty rare to find). However, there are companies like JMK who still make freeline skates and are constantly making it better, if you want to support them.

glad it helped! if you need me to make video on anything free line related (tricks, types of freeline, etc.), feel free to ask.

How about the update? Are u a master in freeline skate?!
Thanks for this! I'm really not into sports (Badminton when I was younger. But well..) and I got this on a whim. I've been thinking of a hobby I can bring when I move to Japan and so I've been trying. Your tutorial was really helpful!!
this hobby is not really popular in japan anymore, but it's decently big in china.
but good luck, it's a fun hobby. you just need perseverance.
Perfect tutorial on all points, brother. Thank for sharing your time and insight.

yes, the company went bankrupt and they don't make anything anymore. all the ones you see now are the ones they previously made that has been bought by third companies to make profit.
wamsoon I heard somewhere on Reddit that a company associated with freeline may still be producing them but I might be wrong, I'll link the post

hi the video was really helpful. I struggle with my balance and it would help to know how long you think it would take me to learn
keep at it for a week to 2 weeks.
Thanks for the video.

Thank you very helpful
Great tutorial! I'm making a video of the best freeskate tutorials, can I use some footage in this video?
yes, you are free to do whatever you want
can you tell me how its mechanicly possible to steer? for example a bike needs a steer to take a turn.
steer like a snowboard!
Thank you

It seems like you are forccing it rather than being smooth. Try turning your legs a bit so it doesnt feel like you are pushing but doing tiny turns
thanks i think i've got the hang of it now
Th thank you very much
Thanks dude
np! glad it helped
Leo Beardsmore aye!! Blackriver logo i see👍👍
Is it keep kind of like a rip-stick
a little bit. less restrictive
Question, is it anything like riding a ripstick?
yes
I have a problem, im trying it but my back foot is going away from my front foot. Do you have a solution for that?
Watch some jmk vids there helpfull
Also your gracilis musle is going to hurt at first but the more you ride the less itll hurt becouse youv buld up musle
where do u get the covers for the skates
i got mine with the skates.
I bet for everyone who already know how to ride a ripstik are all home that the free line skates are like ripstikes
Im a master of ripstick rideing so i thought id be good at this but rideing this is soooo much diffrent
So.. it's like riding a wave board (or ripstick) but the feet placements are individual
Ryan Lum I thought the same thing
No its not like rideing a wave bored if you go in with that mind set you will fall like 1000 times like i did lol
Would it be the same of riding a wave board/ripstik ??
yep
ripstik is lot more easier in my opinion. but pretty similar.
Does it feel the same as waveboard ?
a little bit
A little but is still very different
thanks !!
Are they electric???
sadly, no. that'll be awesome if it was
Where to buy those and how much? Pls give a link
www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=freeline+skates
which one tho the one that cost 150 dollars? :O
that'll be the GROM, those are very sturdy and you can do a lot of tricks with them.
which one are u using on the video?
The one i'm using in this video is the PRO. There are also JMK rides (jmkride.com/) that are similar to freelines. Where can I buy one?
Are they both same ?? And how long the tires will last ? Are they normall tire or some different one. ?
Drift skate?
So thats how its done
instead of saying using an s motion try saying keep turning them opposite from each other
it's the same bruh
Noice**!
Sadly I’m still lost
Te amo
It’s just a rip stick with missing parts
you look cooler ;)
Trust me its not these ride diffrently
This remind me of a ripstick
He acts like he’s super amazing
i wish i was
Y the dislikes tho
You look so much like ricegum
glad it's not ricecake
Where can i get these?
On amizon theres a cheap version for around 35$ that are ok and good for begginers but if you want something profesional go to jmk
