I love that many Asian countries have healthier options available in convenience stores. I mean for less than a McDonald's breakfast combo, you get fruit, real eggs, a few veggies and it's not all filled with grease and salt.

It is considered to be a fine dessert and you can even bring good fruit as a present. Consequently the prices are higher in relation. I also wonder if import costs are a bit higher for Japan as it is situated as an island in the Pacific Ocean. 🤔
I love the convenience culture (used to live in taipei with a convenience store on every block) but one thing that always made me feel bad was the packaging. I ended up doing research on where each country stood on single-use plastic waste and somehow taiwan and japan's were relatively low??? lower than the us, aus, uk, some european countries. This eased my guilty heart the tiniest bit but it sure made me feel worse about life in the states.
Never thought Japan would be cheaper than New Zealand but there you go. I wish I lived in Japan! So good to see people wearing masks, Kiwis are too selfish to wear them 💔
