    Great review Luke. I run the ILBE version 2 as my main pack and just love it. Makes a great multi day pack. 47 lbs in winter and 37 lbs in summer with lighter gear. The overall comfort is exceptional for such a large pack. Really like that tango version. Good review as alway. You never disappoint.

    I have an ILBE pack. Very comfortable and built like a tank. Well worth the purchase if you can find one complete.

    The pouch on the front is meant for a hydration bladder, it's a very awkward place I know especially since it will exposed to the elements a lot more, but guess it's a bit more comfortable than having it squeezed between your back and the load and probably popping.

    • @floydvaughn9666
      @floydvaughn9666 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can do that. But, that pouch is meant for your Kevlar helmet. But really, it'll hold whatever.

      Great pack! As for the viewer who sent in the Tango, while not my best friend I do appreciate it. I'm glad that I was able to share it with the viewers so at least they know that it is out there. For some that incredibly high price tag is worth it.

    it looks like recon ILBE main pack. I like the full surface of molle webbing on the front and the sides. but this pack is so freaking expensive with no good reason at all. I'd rather get the recon ILBE main pack which is bigger and more modular than the tango pack.

    Firstoff, I appreciate your reviews.
    I am just about to buy an Arc'teryc Echo Pack ( I found one!! only €250!)
    but i cant seem to find the size difference between the Tango and the Echo. How many litres go into the Tango here?
    I know Echo holds about ±54 liters.
    Cheers from Holland

  • @condaryt
    @condaryt 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    wow!.... nice and beautifull backpack!. My Gen 2 ILBE have the same Lid design, with the pocket outside and the zipper to the back, but with molle under it (The orginal lid). The front flap has 2 functions:
    1.- To carry your Hydration System Carier: it has a small pocket inside.
    2.- To Attach the Assault Pack: If you put your Hydration System inside the main pack, the Assault pack can be attached to the front with the buckles. The flap goes around it to keep it tied and closer. In that way you can carry a 100 Liter backpack... it's a huge monster with the Assault pack attached ;)
    Thanks Luke ;)

      new with Assault pack and hydration system on ebay a couple of years ago. but this days it's really hard to find one ILBE on ebay in good conditions at a low price. most of them are now too pricy or too damaged or both to be a good investment.

      condaryt With a little searching you can still find good deals and a good condition complete set. I did a little searching a moment ago and found excellent condition complete systems for $119 on ebay with free shipping. With a little more time looking around and asking questions you could find a complete kit in really good condition for less than $100. ;)
      Cheers amigos.

    Dude...you're a luck man. I love coyote brown and this Arc'teryx Tango and the all coyote brown improved sleep system (which you got before I even knew it existed) is some great kit. It would match my all coyote brown Propper Adventure Tech 7 Level ECWCS. The Tango pack is actually perfect. It's a better version of the Gen 2 ILBE (with more PALS and no assault pack foldable cover with snap) but in the FILBE color (which is more MOLLE 2/ALICE than ILBE).

    Cool. Arc'Teryx has some interesting rules about their pro deals. Good on you for not disclosing the person's name who sent you the pack. They could lose access to their pro deal if they were outed. Arc'T usually deeply discounts items in their pro purchasing programs from what you see in the retail market. Years ago I was able to participate in that program and I was very thankful that I could get such high quality gear at those discounts, Gear that is still going strong more than 10 years later. Even at the retail prices their packs are a bargain.

    • @TheOutdoorGearReview

      It's considered the 'Civilian' ILBE because of the color and lack of camo pattern.

    How much does it weigh? Lighter than USMC ILBE?

      ***** If it was a 'mil-spec' toothbrush it would weigh 3lbs, be a foot long and would last forever. Just saying. ;) I do agree 100% in regards to the LEAF program though but it's just like any military surplus in that it eventually makes it's way out on to the open market. No different really.

    I'd take Kifaru packs any day over Arcteryx. This pack is heavy, packs extra weight with unnecessary and gaudy amount of PALS webbing. Plus the frame's load bearing abilities is not great when you try Kifaru Duplex frame.

    I walked in to my Local Military surplus store today, and behold this bad girl lay so elegantly still beneath it's brother the ILBE. The price tag is rather large on the tango compared to it's brother. So lemme ask you, seeing that you have more use out of both rucks than I do, aside from the fact that one is MARPAT, which one would you go with? Thanks for the help, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth haggling a trade for it.

      Destriathon Roseanne You can buy all kinds of Arcteryx stuff in any outdoor retail store. Most are made in China. Would you support a communist regime before a company that has a LEAF line of products? These are costly to make with more expensive fabrics and components, and take longer to assemble. They are not mass market items which is why they are directed to a specific target.
