    Our T@b 400 isn't even a year old yet but has served us nicely in severe weather, 30 and 100 degree temperatures, and the very rough country roads of home. It was the only trailer, after more than 5 years of serious shopping (even checked out the Oliver in Howenwald) that fit my 6'7" husband and met our construction expectations. Even then, I wish it had extra long twin beds up front with an isle. Thank you for your channel!

    We purchased our Tab 400 with factory solar 18 months ago which was an upgrade from an R-Pod 171. We have spent 88 nights and traveled about 19,000 miles so far. The build quality and NuCamp support continues to impress. We love our 400 and couldn't imagine traveling without it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your videos including your Take 5 series. Your body of work have been very beneficial to us as we progressed from newbies. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

      I was looking at getting either the R Pod 171 or Tab 400. What made you move on from the 171?

      @@infooptimalfitness7720 The Tab 400 has better suited our needs on many levels for 4 years and 35,000 miles. The build quality, product support, design and camping experience have far exceeded our previous 171.

      @@denisbrown5716 Excellent! The more I research the 400 the more I am sold on it. When I walked in the 400 I could just feel the quality.

    Great review, Patrick. You have accumulated more miles and camping nights in two years than most weekend campers will in a decade or more, which certainly bodes well for long-term reliability. As you know, we purchased @stro, our 2019 T@B 400, just this past August. Your channel was certainly influential in helping us make that decision. Between you and Patty, a high level of general owner satisfaction as evidenced in the various forums, the company’s reputation for standing behind their products, and finally taking a factory tour and seeing for myself just how well these campers are designed and built, the decision was easy. We’ve only camped a half dozen times so far, but I can tell you this much: Every time we tour someone else’s camper, from small travel trailers to 5th wheels to six-figure Class A motorhomes, I get back into this little 400 and know we made the right choice.

    We actually bought our 2018 T@B 400 on a whim. We didn't know anything about them at all--we had gone to the dealership looking for an rPod and made an offer on the 400 the very next day. It's been really great to have your body of knowledge and information to draw from, since this is our first RV experience. I think the two upgrades we'd like to tackle first are installing solar (no factory solar on ours) and the Maxx fan. We can't wait to get it out from undercover (we did spring for the Pahaque cover, which is pretty great) and go on the road! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and I'm so glad to hear that you still love your trailer after 2 years.

    I am going to purchase a T@B 400 Boondock next year. This video was so interesting because not only was it a testimonial of their customer service, many of the upgrades you talked about I was interested in are now standard on the 2021 model I want to buy. Thank you for your insight and giving me the confidence to know I am buying the right camper for me and from the right manufacturer!

    Excellent video as usual guys.
    I seriously considered a TAB 400 back in 2018 but found a used 2016 Airstream Bambi Sport (our first RV) in great shape & good price last January 2019. I may step up to a little larger Airstream or TAB 400 in another year or so when I retire. Thanks for all your info and entertaining TH-cams.

      We definitely live the Airstreams as well and had considered a Bambi when we were shopping but the new ones were a bit out of our price range. Airstreams are definitely an American Icon and my guess is someday we will eventually own one.

    I have a 2014 T@G which the left/driver’s side wall delaminated after the warranty expired. NuCamp paid to ship the camper back to Ohio. I opted to drive from Colorado to Chicago on a business trip and the kept driving to pick it up in Ohio. They had repaired the wall, made a few upgrades, and charged $0. Solid customer service!
    We’re considering upgrading to a somewhat larger camper and a T@B is on the list.

    Check the adhesive around the vent of the bathroom on the roof ,we had a leak last summer .
    Luckily it was in the bathroom.
    I replace the caulking around both vents with some sort of thick tape that they use on slide out
    Works good
    Make the scratch on plastics disappear whit a compound specific for plastic like head lights
    It will bring your windows like new and the black trims around the tab .no need for a buffer just elbow grease !
    Thank you ,we share the same feeling than yours on ´´Charlotte ´´ a 2018 as well .

    I've clicked the "thumbs UP" icon, watched your video twice, & read all the replies B4 I composed the following:
    25,000 miles in two years, 127 camping days/nights is definitely using your trailer for traveling rather than parking it in storage for 11 months out of the year like so many RV'ers.
    I have yet to see a video on any nüCamp product that has been a "Lemon"; the overwhelming consensus about nüCamp products is FAVORABLE. The fact that the 2018 nüCamp Rendezvous sold out in 8 hours just about says it all.
    I liked the part where you are specific about the maintenance you've had done & the upgrades you did to make C@RL even more suitable & comfortable for you & Patti.
    I'm looking forward to your 2021 trip to Alaska and a 5-year REVIEW of C@RL in 2022.
    I've heard some scuttlebutt about nüCamp coming out with a 4-Season option & am wondering if that is something you will consider buying?
    My insulated & converted camper is a 1992 Ford E250 Cargo Van.

    We traded our T@B 320 Boondock Edge back to our dealer and bought a T@B 400. We have only used it once before storing it beside our home for the winter. I winterized the trailer and we have a space heater inside the unit to prevent any moisture build up.
    We tow the trailer with a 2016 Honda Pilot AWD and on our first outing everything worked really well. Summer of 2020 will see a lot of weekend trips as we have 4 days a week when we are both home. A,so, we will take a longer trip probably to eastern Canada.
    I totally agree this is a quality trailer. For many years we had a 25’ Airstream and we are both experienced RVers. Our trips are usually long distances and this new T@B 400 will see a lot of use. I feel confident in the trailer and the quality.

    What a helpful video. Thanks for the useful information. I'm about to purchase my first T@B camper and found a lot of great tips. One thing I'm curious about is electricity generation & storage. I plan on doing mostly self-contained camping so could use a considerable amount of electricity for lights, heat, computer, etc. Do you have a generator on your T@B 400? Is there a dedicated space for a generator? If not, how do you generate/produce & store electricity other than the solar panel you discussed in the video? Any tips/suggestions/information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

    We recently bought a 2021 TAB 400. The cushion nearest the kitchenette is upholstered with the wrong side up. We have asked NuCamp to send us a cushion that is correctly upholstered. The representative informed us that the cushions should be used with the brown quilted/industrial grade trim on top and that the cushion in question is correctly upholstered. It seems odd to me that the tag on the cushion is attached to that side. Cushions don’t have tags sewn into their top side. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi, Thanks for this very informative video! I have been researching this RV for some time now and am quite sure it is the one for me! I live in Canada on the west coast so experience some pretty cold weather. Wondering how insulated your Tab is?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have found it to be very good in cold weather. We have camped in temperature that get below freezing at night and have been plenty toasty in it using the Alde Heating system. As long as you keep a vent and window cracked, we have not experience significant condensation on the walls like we have with prior trailers that we have owned. I know we have had several subscribers who own T@B 400's on the west coast both in Washington and up in Vancouver. I have never heard them say they have had an issue with cold weather.

    If you upgrade to the pitched axle is it a heavier rated axle with bigger hubs and shafts? I recently purchased a Hummingbird, oh I know your issues you had, but I wanted a specific floor plan the only thing was that the dealer didn’t have it the Baja package and that’s what I wanted, however I wheeled the price pretty darn low. I wish my budget would accommodate a TAB 400 because they had a used 18 and that’s what I went to see unfortunately it was 20 miles north of the dealer at a show and we never made it there.
    I had really wanted to see one of these trailers up close I happened to run into the guy who bought it though later on when I went to pick up my trailer I spoke to him and all I can say is that he paid near what they were asking for it used and that was close to 24K still too rich for me right now.

    Hi from Idaho! Thank you for the informative update on your Tab 400. I have a 2018 Forest River No Boundaries 16.5. I love it -- it's very rugged and functional. But I'm thinking of switching to something a little more sleek and light, so I have been looking at the Tab 400 Boondock. I want the ruggedness of a boondock package, since that is mostly what I do.
    I have a couple of questions that I have not seen answered on the NuCamp site. Where are the batteries? It does not look like they are up front on the tongue.
    Also, the NuCamp website mentions 2-way fridge -- either 110V or 12V. In my experience, a fridge will use up the batteries in a few hours. Does it have a propane fridge or how does it work without using up the batteries?
    Does it have a propane furnace?
    Thanks and happy camping!

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The batteries in a 400 are located in the back of the trailer under the bed. The furnace is the Alde heating system which is a radiant heat system. It can be ran on propane or 110. The 2 way refrigerator they use is a compressor refrigerator so it is much more efficient on battery than the traditional RV refrigerator. I believe if you go with the larger refrigerator option in the 400, it is a 2 way 110/propane refrigerator.
      Hope that helps some.

    • @sk-wx1cf
      @sk-wx1cf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravelswithDelaney Thank you, very helpful. I also found a website that described the Aldi heating system. And I found your videos on how long the battery lasts when running the fridge (4 days), and how much propane the heating system used under very challenging conditions. Great job. Your videos are well done and informative. The T@B 400 Solo is very appealing to me, but it's running neck and neck with the Little Guy Max, which has way more window space and a 3-way fridge!

    Hey Patrick and Patty, Thanks for your awesome videos. I have a quick question…how do you store your Tab after you winterize it? Do you have to leave it plugged in to keep the battery charged. I have to solar, but park my Tab under an awning so it doesn’t get direct sunlight. Also is there an app to use to monitor solar and the AGM 6 volt batteries? Sorry for all the questions I’m a newbie to getting a Tab.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We keep our trailer plugged in all winter and actually keep heat on in it so that our lithium batteries do not get too cold. We use our trailer all winter long so we don’t want to remove the batteries. IF we were not going to camp in the winter, then I would remove the batteries and bring them inside and not keep the power on. Does your T@B have the Victron Solar Controller? If so, YES! Just download the Victron App and you will be able to monitor your batteries and the solar coming in.

    I noticed that your windows are starting to look a bit milky and cloudy and I am pretty sure that is not just dust from the road. Sorry to see this as I had hoped they improved the plastic bubble windows similar to the ones I had on my Chalet 2005. Our Chalet windows suffered from the sun exposure and began to cloud up after only a year or two. It was like looking at the scenery through a sheer curtain rather than the windows being crisp and clear as when new. We tried all kinds of recommended treatments to try to return the windows to a more clear (as new) state. Nothing worked. I am curious to know if you are finding the windows have hazed up and if you tried anything to make them clearer.

      Its pretty normal for any new RV regardless of what you spend. We know people who bought 100K + motorhomes and 5th wheels that still have issues. The key is to find a manufacturer like NuCamp who takes care of the issues for you.

    So I am guessing you are not charging from the tow vehicle while towing. Would have been less expensive that solar

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will charge some from the tow vehicle but not enough to charge up the battery after several days of.boo docking. Your tow vehicle takes care of its own battery first so your trailer only gets the leftover power.

    • @azclaimjumper
      @azclaimjumper 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @jerrygundrum1
      @jerrygundrum1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@azclaimjumperit most assuredly could with a bit of prep. Nucamp uses a 7 pin plug that has a pin specially to supply tow vehicle power to the trailer. With a properly wired tow vehicle it will absolutely charge the trailer.......I use it every trip
